Shooting On UCLA Campus, 2 People Injured

Based on testimonies of fellow students, I'm more inclined to believe them or the professor himself. Even if the professor did indeed steal the source code..psycho boy didn't have to resort to that. Shooting his ex-gf = further proof of his insanity.

Not to go off topic, but I also read the man was an "associate" professor. There are times when these professors without tenure will steal research from their graduate students and use it as their own.

These teachers are evaluated on:
A) How "effectively" they teach within a 3 year period.
B) The content of their research (4 publications per year in a 3 year period)

There are instances when these professors are handed "busy" courses to teach like say 4-5 classes per semester. Even if you say "yes" to overworking yourself, you can still be refused tenure if your publications are deemed "unworthy."

Then are cases where even tenured professors will stimulate great research out of their students only to use that material (without permission) for their own publications or in house promotions = more $$$ in their pockets.

So yeah academia can be a very cutthroat world...though you never want to see it end in murders.

Interesting that the police haven't found this guy's car. You'd think he drove it to campus and parked close by.

I'd venture a guess that this guy sold the car and sent the money back home to India, then took the bus to the UCLA campus.

I'd recommend Voxday's book & tell her to never apologize, yet I wouldn't want to assist in this regard :

Many slammed the actress for being a “narcissistic self absorbed celebrity” and “an attention whore,” the Daily News reported.

I think she was paid off by the government to distract everyone from the shooting.

Unfortunately the biggest law breakers, statistically by science, have a somewhat darker skin hue to the majority population.

Mathematically, if a crime is committed, you would win a bet by betting on a lower hue skinned human having committed the crime. (science m8)

You can see these humans on tv programs proclaiming "I dindu nuffin" (best translation) despite being caught red handed.

It's a play on words man.

The joke is funny because America is for Americans, not the people you're getting offended for.

Explanation - Its an internet meme about black criminals in the USA.

Guess it's bittersweet irony that these liberal college campuses and public schools are the ones which always get targeted by these crazy shooters; so much for "safe spaces".

So not a white shooter, nor muslim shooter, but a deranged IRT who held a grudge for over 3 years ?

There's a new type of shoot every day.

I see plenty of news about it, but that's probably because I'm local to the area.

I think you might be confusing associate professor (who are tenured) with adjunct professors (who are not tenured nor tenure-track - would have incentive to steal code and pad up their research career).

Not happening. - redbeard in regards to ETH flippening BTC

My finance professor published my work as his own. 4 months of original research and I didn't even get a co-authorship. I was a little pissed but it's kinda expected in academia.

The only time you get furious is when they make a billion dollars off your idea like the Stanford kids who did the research that became Cisco.

Dude is probably in the most relaxing place possible - fishing on a beautiful day, calm waters, not a cloud in the sky, yet you could transpose a background of a tiny, cramped, depressing office space with no windows and it would be more compatible with his demeanour.

Maybe he was pissed that he couldn't catch any fish - they just kept stealing his bait?

Omega's gonna Omega I guess.
