Um... yeah...

Quote:Quote:
You know, I need a maternity leave!” I told one of my pregnant friends. She laughed, and we spent the afternoon plotting my escape from my 10-hour days, fake baby bump and all.
Of course, that didn’t happen. But the more I thought about it, the more I came to believe in the value of a “meternity” leave — which is, to me, a sabbatical-like break that allows women and, to a lesser degree, men to shift their focus to the part of their lives that doesn’t revolve around their jobs.
And yet, you also want equal pay...?
Also, this is more proof that women simply aren't happy in the traditional structure - spending their most fertile years going to school and working, only to realize they've hit the wall.
I agree with her in principle about doing things outside your job, which is why I'm self employed. However, I'm saving up money and structuring my law practice so that I can take a year off. This lady expects her job to hand her paid time off to eat pray fuck.
Quote:Quote:
It seemed that parenthood was the only path that provided a modicum of flexibility. There’s something about saying “I need to go pick up my child” as a reason to leave the office on time that has far more gravitas than, say, “My best friend just got ghosted by her OkCupid date and needs a margarita” — but both sides are valid.
Actually, both sides are not valid. Raising a child is a contribution to society, and it's something I'm willing to give you some latitude with. Your friend's desire to ride the cock carousel is not.

My company should finance my ride on the carousel without expecting me to work. And I want all of the perks of being a wife and mother without any of that awful responsibility stuff.

This fucking ogre can't be serious. What would she even do with that time? Sit on her ass watching Netflix, drinking box wine, getting fatter, and petting her cats? What the fuck does she think she contributes to the society or at even her employer where she thinks she deserves that much excused time off?
Maternity leave in the US isn't even paid. If she wants a few moths of unpaid time off then she should just quit her job then find something else later.
Just another example of how women are just not cut out for the workplace. Her 10 paid holidays, 2-3 weeks of paid vacation time, and week and a half of paid sick time just aren't enough. She thinks her company should owe her another 12 weeks of excused time off just... because. Because she wants it. So she can stay in bed Friday morning after a cuhrazzzzyyy night of irresponsibly getting hammered drinking a few Sex on the Beaches with her gurls. Fuck this entitled delusional swine.

As soon as men get a "frat-ernety" leave where they get a month of paid time off to chase sluts, get boozed up, and shoot pool with the guys I'll be all for this.

The only real reason to get time off from a job is children. The only reason to have a good job is children. This bitch is taking up space that should be reserved for someone who has actual responsibilities, like raising new human beings that will later continue civilization.

Of course she has no kids, she'd have to find someone to willingly fuck her for that to happen.

What a massive sense of entitlement. This is why society needs a plurality of strong-minded men to keep their women folk in line. In times gone by, she would have been told to shut her foolish yapping. Now, she is given media space to spout her utter mental nonsense. Let this be a reminder to all men that you must hold frame in relationships, otherwise women will always keep testing your boundaries. This "meternity" is just another manifestation of a shit-test.

The title of this article was "I want all the perks of maternity -- without having kids."
What this writer doesn't realize is they used to have that. It was called being a housewife.
But women said they didn't want that. They preferred wage slavery. They wanted to serve corporate masters instead of husbands.
Now they're stuck in jobs they don't like, desperate to find a way out, even if it's only temporary. Sad!

This is just a call for extra holiday...since men work more hours and die younger, shouldn't 'Meternity' be available for men only?

This reminds me of an article on lesbian bed death, that is the decline of sexual activity in lesbian relationships, I read once, in which they interviewed actual lesbians about why there was less sex in their relationships, and one of them whined, "It's harder for us because we don't have the men forcing us to have sex."
The minute you give them what they want, they will find a way to still feel oppressed and left out somehow.

I would actually support this if everybody could get it - men and women. Equal rights to get time off and flexible work arrangements regardless of family status or having children. Asking why you need extra time off or to work part time/from home would be discrimination. If a company provides 6 months of paid maternity leave to a new mother, it should also provide the same benefit to me so that I can fly to Poland or just sit on my ass and drink beer.
I would also question the notion that having children means doing society a favor and requires benefits and sacrifices from other members of society towards parents. A brief visit to a third world country where people have many children despite not getting the benefits is enough to understand that there is no shortage of children in this world.

Don't men get paternity leave? Probably depends on where you work, good union, etc.

I understand why corporations are laying off so many American workers. They never stop demanding things, what a pain in the ass.

Yup. I figure the maternity benefit is an instinctive recognition that children are the future, and so that the population can grow, and replace valuable members so that they can resist foreign invasion rather than import gazillions of immigrants to keep things afloat (whoops). Even in ancient times the tribe would rally round mothers of newborns to provide support in a primitive form of maternity benefit. If you haven't had kids yet you won't fully appreciate the care that's required. It's like subsidised healthcare, really: some use it a lot, some don't. Can't really micromanage that sort of thing so everyone contributes.
But yeah, 'meternity'...more solipsism from worthless idiots. "Reflect on their lives" (caption underneath cat lady) = check social media 24/7 for validation that their lives aren't wasted by not fulfilling their biological imperative.
Childless women who are 6/10 and above should be allowed 'meternity' leave - to get knocked up. Six months to get preggers or you're back in that cubicle until you die. 5's and under can go to the newbie forum for practice or something. Either that or Soylent Green.
