Gay Pastor Claims Whole Foods Wrote Anti-Gay Slur on Cake

File under "Stuff That [Probably] Never Happened":

A gay pastor from Austin, Texas ordered a cake from Whole Foods, with the words "Love Wins" written at the top.

"When I got into my vehicle," he says in the video, "I looked inside and I saw that they had wrote 'Love Wins Fag.'"

Now he's suing....

Quote:Quote:

AUSTIN - Austin-based Whole Foods is being sued after a pastor alleged that he ordered a cake from a store on North Lamar Boulevard with the personalized message “Love Wins” and instead received a cake with the words “Love Wins *gay slur*.”

According to the Kaplan Law Firm PLLC, Pastor Jordan Brown, an openly gay African-American man, reported the incident to Whole Foods. Kaplan Law Firm said Whole Foods said they investigated the incident and allegedly told Pastor Brown the store and its employee had done nothing wrong and no action would be taken.

YouTube comments overwhelmingly do not believe his story.

As you can see in the video, the cake box has a clear window on top. He says he did not see the slur until he had received the cake, paid for it, then brought it out of the store to his "vehicle."

But instead of documenting what happened in the car, and/or taking the cake back into the store, he drove home with it and shot the video.

He makes a big to-do of the fact that the box is sealed, and insists that he hasn't opened it. In fact, there is only a price sticker holding it shut. Those can easily be peeled up & re-stuck.

I think this is a case of someone trying to capitalize on the "anti-gay cake-baker" trope for attention, sympathy and money. I predict that this will be exposed as yet another SJW hoax in short order.

Mike Cernovich covers the story at his blog:
http://www.dangerandplay.com/2016/04/18/...ole-foods/

Whole Foods has responded with a statement:

Quote:Quote:

Our team member wrote “Love Wins” at the top of the cake as requested by the guest, and that’s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive. Whole Foods Market has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination. We stand behind our bakery team member, who is part of the LGBTQ community, and the additional team members from the store, who confirmed the cake was decorated with only the message “Love Wins.”

I can tell how progressive the staff at Whole Foods is by how badly-decorated, uncreative and downright ugly the cake is. Remember, Progressives are uncreative by nature.

Yeah that's a load of shit.

If you're going to try and make some money off of an "intolerant" business, pick Mcdonalds, or Wal Mart.

Not Whole Foods.

Anyone that's ever been in a Whole Foods, knows that they're the most left-leaning, tolerant, and "socially aware" of any grocery store. Just take one look at the people that shop there. You've never seen so many white people with dreads. The entire place is about being "non-conformist", organic, free trade, and protecting animal rights. They go out of their way not to offend groups like PETA (And PETA got upset anyways).

And for the record, I'm not just talking shit here.

I used to work in a Whole Foods bakery, a couple years back, for about a year. I've never in my life worked with so many gay dudes, phillipinos (really hard workers!), and middle class white girls. While some of the phillipino guys I knew were catholic, there's no way they would've wrote something like that on a cake.

So this guy couldn't even come up with a believable place to smear. I mean shit, there's plenty of places that'll write on a cake for you. And this idiot chose the most progressive one.

In my dream court proceeding:

Judge: Sir, you say that you found the word "fag" written on your cake that you purchased from Whole Foods?
GayPastor: Yes, by Johnny, the bakery boy.
Judge: Johnny, did you do this?
Johnny: Yes, sir.
Judge *Turning to GayPastor*: Why are you suing Whole Foods over what this wimpy highschool part time worker did?
GayPastor: THEY CALLED ME A FAG. I'm so hurt by this, I've lost sleep and had to get my friend to cover my shifts at the church because I couldn't stop crying!
Judge: Son, I was called a faggot all the time when I was a kid because I was a scrawny little boy. I never cried about it, I just sucked it up and accepted that some people are assholes.
*Turning to Johnny*
Johnny, what you did was mean and wrong. Will you apologize to this man and in so doing I will drop all charges?
Johnny: ....Yes, yes sir! I'm sorry for writing that on your cake, GayPastor.
GayPastor *Eyes start welling with tears*
Judge: Okay, we're done here. Now get the fuck out of here before I fine you for contempt, faggot.

Gay cakes and trans bathrooms: now those are the most important human rights issues of our time, surely.

Jesus, I went to the Whole Foods is Portland, Oregon, and it is a safe place for liberals. Pierced noses (septum rings, I think?), tats, dreadlocks and wide rimmed glasses were permitted by store's manager. It was a case where everyone who worked at that location was looking to one-up the other with weirdness.

Probably looked like an easy target. If whole foods has a reputation for being progressive, he reasoned it would be quick to pay money to a gay man claiming discrimination, without a thorough investigation.

I don't think it's unbelievable that a story like this could be true. It's easy for me to imagine a disgruntled employee doing this as a way of making a spiteful exit from whole foods. The details of this accusation point to "lie" however.

This is just so wrong in many levels. Am I the only one who thinks being a pastor and openly gay does not compute?

On top of everything else Whole Foods is expensive as a muthafucka and you're really paying for their ambience and mood lighting and quirky posters and other shit.

Damned if it isn't a good place to run daygame though.

True. Guy might as well have saved himself a few bucks by sticking the icing bag up his arse and decorating a plain cake because it would have looked better than that shit.

I'm sure Whole Foods will cave in and try to show their support with a line of gay pasta.

The lawsuit has been posted online:

https://www.scribd.com/book/309636893/Jo...ds-Lawsuit

A few highlights:

Quote:Quote:

II.
FACTUAL BACKGROUND

7. Pastor Jordan Brown grew up in a family of pastors and was called to the ministry at an early age. He began preaching at age 14, and is currently the founder and Lead Pastor of Church of Open Doors.

8. Pastor Jordan is an openly gay African-American man.

9. The Church of Open Doors is a non-denominational, Christian-based church in Austin, Texas. Pastor Jordan founded the Church in 2014. It stands as a safe place welcoming all, including members of the LGBT community.

10. In its first years, the Church conducted a clothing drive for the homeless, did monthly outreach providing food for the homeless, supported LifeWorks, and raised money to support single-parent households who lost their homes in the flooding that took place in Austin, Texas.

11. Pastor Jordan’s ministry focuses on people who have experienced “brokenness,” and creating an atmosphere where the members of his congregation can have the freedom to experience God in their own way.

12. The Church’s ministry delivers a message of personal empowerment. For instance, on February 24, 2016, the Church posted the following message on its Twitter account: “God didn’t create us to live our lives in fear. He created us to live with power, love, and a sound mind or courage.”

13. Pastor Jordan’s sermons regularly touch on these topics. For instance, a recent sermon was entitled: “Growing in a Dark Place.” He preached that God expects us to use our places of hurt and pain to grow as individuals.

14. Pastor Jordan is active in the local community, serving as a member of the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and its Toastmasters program. He is also a volunteer for the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce.

15. He in a six-year, committed same-gender relationship. One month ago, he got engaged to his longtime partner.

Pastor Jordan is a Really, Really Good Person. He is also thoroughly, undeniably gay. (He's also African-American. Did we mention that?)

Quote:Quote:

16. On April 14, 2016, Pastor Jordan went to the Whole Foods flagship location at 525 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, Travis County, Texas 78703, to pick up a cake for one of his congregation members. He was planning to deliver the cake around lunchtime as a surprise gift.

17. Specifically, Pastor Jordan was looking for a cake with the personalized message: “Love Wins.” Pastor Jordan approached the bakery counter, pointed to a blank, pre-frosted cake in the display case, and asked for the words “Love Wins” to be added to the cake.

18. The Whole Foods bakery associate removed the cake selected by Pastor Jordan from the display case. She brought it over to the prep table and began writing on it in icing. She then sealed it with a Whole Foods sticker, and handed it to Pastor Jordan. Once it was sealed, there was no way to alter the cake without breaking the Whole Foods sticker.

This is not true. As I mentioned before, the sticker can be carefully peeled and then re-stuck.

The "LOVE WINS" on the cake looks quite different from the "FAG" written below it, as if the latter was added by someone less experienced at writing with icing. According to the lawsuit, the cake was initially blank and was handled by only the one employee, apparently within view of Pastor Jordan.

Quote:Quote:

19. Pastor Jordan rushed out the door with the cake.

This makes no sense. Why did he rush out the door with it? Did he pay for it? In every Whole Foods I've been to, if you get an item at one of the various counters, you still have to take it to a check-out counter to purchase it.

Quote:Quote:

20. He set the cake on the floor of the passenger seat side of the car. While stopped at a stop light, Pastor Jordan looked down and saw for the first time that the cake had a terrible anti-gay slur written directly across the middle of it:

21. He immediately pulled the car over.

We get details about where he set the cake inside the car, and how he pulled the car over when he saw the slur, but no real explanation of the most obvious question: How was it possible for someone in his position not to have seen the face of the cake before he left the store?

Quote:Quote:

26. Approximately two hours later, [the store manager] called back and said that Whole Foods had come to the conclusion that the store had not done anything wrong, and that their bakery associate had done nothing wrong. Nothing in his statement revealed whether or not he had actually spoken to the bakery associate or what kind of investigation he performed. Pastor Jordan asked Nunez directly, "if the bakery associate did not do this, then who wrote this on my cake?" Nunez responded to the effect of, “I don’t know, and we can’t help you,” and hung up the phone. This call lasted approximately 54 seconds. There was no apology, and it appeared that the offer for the gift card and replacement cake had been revoked.

The manager probably checked security camera footage and saw that the employee did not write the slur Pastor Jordan claims.

Quote:Quote:

27. Pastor Jordan spent the remainder of the day in tears. He was and is extremely upset.

Quote:Quote:

43. Plaintiff suffered severe emotional distress, including painful emotion and mental reactions like embarrassment, fright, horror, grief, shame, humiliation, and worry, of the kind that no reasonable person could expect to endure without undergoing unreasonable suffering.

Pastor Jordan's attorneys are seeking a jury trial.

Whole Foods is one of the most liberal, hipster organizations in America, full of overpriced organic products that are environmentally safe. They advocate for LGBT rights. South Park had a whole season about how a Whole Foods in their town liberalized and gentrified it. And this is how the LGBT left pays them back? With this bullshit money-grab defamation hoax?

Fuck loyalty, I suppose.
