Once upon a time when I was younger, I asked myself this same question. But as you grow older, you learn more about the nature of women and you get an answer. (I've also learned more about the nature of people in general, but for now we'll focus on women.)
To answer your question, the type of woman who would have herself filmed having sex and put before the world is the type of woman who thrives on drama and hysteria. We all knew girls like this in high school. And we all know them now.
There are two types of drama they feed on: Attention whoring and playing the victim. It's one or the other each day -- sometimes both.
These are the women that wear the most revealing clothes, post hundreds of selfies online, and talk sexually to most every guy. That's the attention part.
Then there's the "victim" side. When the wrong guys respond to their clothes and manners, they go batshit insane about being harassed. When it comes to boyfriends, these women magically seem only land "abusive" ones. They're also constantly in a state of conflict with other women. And their families are all "dysfunctional" and hate them. If it's not that, then it's an eating disorder or a drug problem.
What could feed a woman's need for drama bigger than having -- OMG! -- the whole world talking about her being naked on camera! On the plus side, it fills her need for attention-whoring. On the flip side, it makes her an eternal "victim" as we see with Bree Olson.
Bree isn't the only one like this. Check the Facebook and Twitter feed of most any woman in the sex industry (or entertainment industry, for that matter) and you get a stream of problem after problem. Unlike guys, their posts are not music videos, insights, and jokes. It's the out-of-control redneck-ish high school girl you once knew, but now she's in front of the world, not cloistered in algebra class.
As I've said before on this forum, our grandfathers (and great-grandfathers) knew women had a propensity for this type of behavior and, as such, didn't take them too seriously and didn't let them into public life.
But we've been brainwashed by the (mis)educational system and mass media and have grown up thinking women are in most ways the same as men. They're not.
To be clear, most women *don't* have the massive need for drama that Bree Olson clearly has. But I believe there is a little Bree in all of them.
Watch for this if you get married. Because it can come up and bite you in an unexpected way -- as it did to me. Even the most logical, brainy women have this quality...and the smarter they are the harder it is to see because you don't expect it. But I digress.
I just recently started a thread called "Another Day, Another Hashtag," that examines why women seem to be in a constant state of contrived crisis. I'd urge you to read that, because it will explain a lot about what's going on here.
Finally, to answer the other part of your question, yes a lot of women in porn were abused and are on drugs. However, that doesn't quite answer why they'd want themselves naked on the Internet for eternity. A lot of people endure various crises during their lives, but their response usually isn't "I'll get naked and suck dick on camera! That'll solve everything!!"
