What Coca Cola does to your body in 1 Hour
The simple rule us that all processed foods are bad for you in large quantites. If you eating a processed food make sure it is as natural as possible.
A sausage for instances is "prosessed" but you can get a natural sausage link with just meat, seasonings, and a natural casing. It shouldn't be laced with nitrates and other preserveatives.
Cola that is natural is just a few ingredients, some natural and organic colas only have around 5-7, it does take a whole lot to make (spiced cola syrup, soda, simple syrup, water). You contrast that to the almost industrial grade coke syrup you get for the pop machines and the stuff with stain and grout concrete if you spill it.
Where coke gets you into trouble is the fact that it triggers addiction receptors to crave that sugar hit and you start to change your pallets to crave more sugar which means you will be more likely to eat crappy foods.
I have not drank a can coke in 10+ years now. I took a sip a few months back and I started to gag as it is way to sweet for my pallette. Once you cut it out your body doesn't miss it.
If you crave "fizzy drinks", just drink leamon seltzer which is basically just natural flavored pop. Seltzer is what they cut coke syrup with and is what gives the "fizz" so just cut out the junk and drink the source if that is what you like most about coke. Seltzer is my mainstay drink that isn't normal water, I drink a bottle every other day. It is zero calorie, has two ingredients in it, and actually has a good amount of calcium in each serving surprisingly.

I stick with the refrescos, the natural sodas from Mexico (go to any Mexican grocery store, and pick up a bottle of Pepsi, Coke, or even Fanta, the glass one's, if you want to get something tasty, and a little more healthy than the HFC-laced US stuff).
I wonder if there is anyone brewing original recipe Coca Cola down in the Andes
With all the bad press Coca Cola is getting, a real coca-based drink may seem (be?) healthier.

I guess I'll change my drinking habits from Rum/Coke to beers and wine.
Bye bye Cuba Libre...
