Some girls have a very countryside look, but even for those who don't, generally it's easy to spot with a little conversation.
China is very classist, which is funny for a society that basically started from scratch less than 50 years ago. Parents are heavily involved in their kid's marriage choice and that goes doubly when the parents are rich and going to be passing a lot of money down.
It's not stretch to say that the parents are going to want a girl who is "good enough for their son."
I'm sure that there are some rare 9's who are marrying well outside of their social class, but when you have solid 7's with great boobs (in a country where even 7's are hard to come by) who exclusively seem to date foreigners, you can tell that they aren't getting interest from Chinese guys who have much to offer.
These girls are often so poor that they share a bed with their roommate, so a guy wouldn't need to offer much to be pretty much be giving them the world.
So, yes, these girls are easy to spot. Poor girls are 95% of the female population. In China, most people are still poor and unlikely to even meet a guy with cash that matches their natural beauty.
This is why you see so many attractive girls passing 30 without marrying. They won't marry without marrying up, but they are getting literally no attention from guys who could offer them the opportunity to marry up.

Chinese guys are really particular about things like porcelain white skin, a small mouth, big eyes. There's a certain specific face that is considered attractive.
For foreigner guys, there's a huge range that they consider beautiful, which often does not overlap with what Chinese guys like, oddly enough.
I've felt my preferences change a bit as I spend more time here. Definitely prefer high quality skin more than I used to. Can also see the appeal of big eyes and small mouths, but I'm not dead set on it.
The funny thing about Chinese guys is they'll frequently pass over a girl for some apparent flaw that pretty much any non-Chinese guy in the world would have no problem with. A girl that would get tons of attention internationally might be considered ugly in China. It's weird.
But remember, this is the country where parents literally refuse to let their kids marry certain people, because they were "born in the wrong year" according to some fortune teller. These are not peasants doing this, but every day rich people who drive BMWs.
