Other nations with higher(or roughly equal) per capita GDPs to America have higher quality women, so that's not it.
It is unique to the culture. America's unique blend of puritanism, isolation, and diversity during its formation created a unique set of results. The relatively low quality of the women here relates to puritanism and adversarialism, both key aspects of American culture.
-
Adversarialism: Americans like conflict. It isn't a cohesive, united culture-people here like to pick sides and fight doggedly over things. This makes the gender war here more antagonistic than it is in many other places. This also makes American feminism far more hostile to men than the kind seen in other cultures.
With the death of the patriarchy in the 60's/70's and the more restrictive gender roles that came with it, the women have gotten a bit of an edge in power, which is why so many more American men are complaining about female entitlement, bitterness, etc, etc. Feminism is no longer about equality here-it is a power grab.
-
Puritanism: Puritanism is the core from which American society grew, and it is the source of many of this nation's social hypocrisies. The ball-busting "career woman" type of feminist we so often complain about here is a direct offshoot of puritanism. The Puritans encouraged a strong work ethic among their women(to try and match men and double their labor force) and tried to remove some gender roles while also repressing sexuality.
This is why American women have historically been seen as "more masculine" than others-that's not a new trend. It is also why they've worked harder than many others(even the relatively progressive Scandinavians) in creating "equality"-that is, being "one of the boys". Not just having sex like one of the boys, but really
BEING one of the boys.
The only other country that really comes close to America's level of gender tension is the UK, more distantly followed then by Canada(only Toronto really comes close to a US-style environment) and Australia(far more laid back, less adversarial culture).
You won't have to worry about Russian women adopting these problems. For that to happen, they would need to come to the US and live completely immersed and consumed by this culture, losing almost all ties to their own (including parental influence from more recent immigrants). Unless she moves here as a young child, lives with American parents and grows up here, she likely won't reach that level.
Just don't ever move your woman here.

Very interesting analysis. I feel I learnt a thing or two just by reading it! Still I'm somewhat concerned that the American media/celebrity obsessed culture will manage to seep in everywhere eventually. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I remember really looking up to the US when I was a kid. The media can be very powerful when you're not mentally prepared for it.
