What's your morning ritual?

I've been reading a lot about having a morning ritual. I figured that getting a good, positive start to the day would be helpful in improving oneself. So I gathered every bit of advice that I could find, and took the bits that I liked, plus some ideas of my own, and I came up with this. This is what I'm doing now, but I'm going to keep improving it. Actually I have much more written down, containing stuff that I'm gradually building towards. The idea is to make progress at a realistic rate :

* Get up at 7.15am (I'm aiming for 6am)

* Jump out of bed, and do 30 explosive breaths

* Have a piss, and while I'm at it, I grab some coconut oil (which is on top of the toilet) and start oil pulling for 20 minutes (I melt the oil, then freeze it in ice cube thingies, then I slice each one in half)

* Cross trainer for 5 minutes

* 20 curls per arm

* 5 pressups and 5 situps

(Yes I know that's lame, but I haven't worked out for a very long time so I need to work my way up, but the workout is only to wake myself up, not an actual proper workout. The important thing for me is just to do something rather than nothing)

* 5 minutes of qi gong

* 5 minutes of prepping my home made protein bar (for the next day)

* Grab my home made protein bar and fruit/veg smoothie from the fridge, and a banana

* Do 5 minutes of work on one of my books (I like to work in 5 minute intense bursts. It works very well for me, and it's surprising how much can get done)

* Eat while listening to a positive podcast (I hardly watch TV any more) and reading some affirmations that I created. Basically filling my brain with constructive stuff

* 5 minutes of work on my book

* 5 minutes of chores



That's it, for now.

Eventually I will be adding other things such as meditation, facial yoga, going for a walk, and whatever else comes to mind.

The recipe for my protein bar is :

8 heaped tablespoons of oats
2 heaped teaspoons of peanuts
2 heaped teaspoons of sunflower seeds
2 heaped teaspoons of pumpkin seeds
1 heaped teaspoon of goji berries
1 heaped teaspoon of chocolate spread
1 heaped teaspoon of honey
A splash of milk
Sometimes a vitamin tablet

The recipe for my smoothie is :

1 broccoli floret
1/2 a celery stick
Some spinach
Some kale
A chunk of ginger
20 blueberries
10 raspberries
1/2 an apple (everything except the seeds - they contain arsenic)
1/4 an orange (everything except the seeds, there's arsenic in them too)
1/8 a lemon (same again, whole except the seeds)
Green tea
Occasionally cod liver oil

My affirmations are about : Feeling awake and alert and energized, my personal values, my business values, my purpose in life, and a ton of other stuff. It's actually more of a speech, which I'm gradually forming, and which I'll memorize.

It feels good to do all that. I don't have a job and I'm struggling to create my business, so I do have a hell of a lot of time on my hands, so this ritual gives me a reason to get up early in the morning, as well as a sense of purpose and getting the day off to a good start. I'm not sure if it's made much more of a difference than that, but we'll see. I also have some ideas for a bedtime ritual, but I'm having a hard time getting myself motivated for that. Also I plan to have a work ritual.

So what's your morning ritual? How has it affected you? Do you think they're a good idea?

My morning ritual is very simple.

I get up and go to the bathroom.
I go to the fridge and grab my water bottle
Open iTunes and start my the morning workout playlist
I start my warm up
I start my workout
I take my breakfast meal blended meal
Get dressed and leave for work. If i'm not working that day i take care of the errands for the day.

Wake up @ 5am.
Drink glass of water, take shit.
Have big cup of black coffee no sugar, a bowl of quinoa flakes/oat bran (no sugar or toppings added) and a banana.
Go to gym.

Repeat 6 days a week.

I like your routine OP.

Mine is something like:

Shower (Hot while I shave and clean myself, etc, followed by about 3 minutes of freezing cold)
Cook breakfast (Oats and brown sugar)
Meditate for 15 minutes

Go to fucking work.

My bench press has been pissing me off lately so I have been doing several sets of pushups each morning, once when I get up, once right after a shower, and another between making coffee and flossing. Then read the news on the shitter, have two cigarettes, and figure out lunch.

What's your morning ritual?

I've got to be honest: my morning ritual is this:

Do whatever feels best.

Have one coffee? Have two? Have three? Depends on how I feel.

Eat straight away? Eat after an hour? Depends on how I feel.

Shower immediately after getting up? Just before I leave the house? Depends on how I feel.

Etc etc.

I trust my mind that if it wants some extra stimulus or some extra nonsense time (i.e. watching boxing videos at 7am) to process stuff, so be it.

It's my extension of my "listen to my body" training mantra.

Works for me.

What's your morning ritual?

I wake to my alarm at 10am and have to solve 3 math problems before the fucking thing shuts off.
After I make coffee.
I read my precepts (newly added) on the front page of my workout journal.
I read my emails and some of my favorite blogs.
I look through my phone and try to set up a meeting with a girl I met that I am trying to bang.

I turn on music usually something like you hear in the club with high BPM or classic rock.
I stretch for 30 minutes and warm up (read:fuck around)
I do convict conditioning workout if it's M/W/F
T/TH I meet my friend at the lake to train muay thai.
Saturday I walk if I'm not too hungover.
Sunday I lay in bed or call my girl to come hang out.

After I eat 300 gram box of chicken rice and steamed veggies with only a tablespoon of soy. It costs 3.20 (USD) at the chinese place next door. I eat this 3-4 times a day for 32 days now with bananas and peanut butter for snacks.

I've been doing this for more than days faithfully. Most of this is inspired from what I've read here on the forum and Roosh's blog. I can't say that all of this has "changed my life" but I was telling my Dad on the phone today that this has been the best/most productive month of the last 2 years easily.

Up around 7ish
Breakfast is either fruit....yogurt/granola/fruit....or whatever protein leftovers from previous night dinner.
Grab my coffee (with a drop of milk and honey) and go.
Smoke 2-3 butts on the drive to work and pray I make it there before I shit my pants.

(On military base)

Out of bed 5:30am.
Take a piss, get dressed, brush teeth, shave, moisturise, tidy room.
Leave room 5:55am, walk to mess hall and eat bacon, eggs and a bowl of yogurt with 2 glasses of water.
Cigarette.
Form up 6:30am.

I save all exercise for the afternoon.

M-F Try to wake up at 0530 (I can if I got enough sleep)
Make a coffee with soy milk but no sugar, clean up (dishes, etc.)
Bright light therapy box for 30 minutes while I write in the journal
Get my work clothes ready in my bag, pack my lunch (which I made as a big batch Sunday night)
Bike to yoga class, yoga for an hour, bike back and shower
Bike to work

Weekends
Whatever I feel like

Being disciplined seems to come much easier after having disconnected from the Internet at home. That could be a thread in and of itself - I should write it.

What's your morning ritual?

Wake to soul destroying alarm sound on phone/cheap digital clock with fuzzy head due to hangover/late-night fap session.

Turn alarm off immediately on my phone almost by out-of-body experience as my subconscious does not want to get out of bed.

Alternate between opening each eye whilst the other is closed for 5 mins. Ultimately this does not last and I drift off to sleep again.

Have amazing, vivid lucid dreams. Realise the reason I feel so good is- i'm late. Again.

Wake up late for work, decide I'm gonna be late anyway so might as well masturbate and have a cup of tea and arrive for a bollocking refreshed & relaxed.

drink 1l water
drink green tea and listen to music while going over for plan for the day.

cold shower / brush teeth / get dressed
ready for the day!

What's your morning ritual?

Wake up at 6:30 AM.
Shower: wash in hot water, shock the body with ice cold water after that.
Get dressed.
Eat 2 or 3 slices of bread with either meat or cheese. I also always have 1 glass of milk and 1 glass of orange juice.
Take my multivitamin, supplement an extra 1000UI Vitamin D3, take extra Zinc, Magnesium & Calcium, 1 spoon of Extra Virgin COD Liver Oil.
Ready for the day!

- Walk straight into a cold shower.
- Have breakfast [Always Rice Porridge w/ a scoop of Whey].
- Head to the lounge room and start work.
