Travel Report : Budapest

Hi guys and Happy new Year !
So I spent New Years Eve in Budapest and stayed there 3 days.
First of all, I have to say that it was maybe a bad choice to go there in winter. It was quite cold as a wave from Russia arrived 2 days before. I didn't except that and I hadn't the appropriate equipment.
I visited a few things but the 31st everything or almost was closed.

The city is pretty, especially the part close to the Danube. You can visit beautiful places like the Parliament or the Basilica.
The bridges are also cool.
Maybe one of the coolest thing are the thermal spa all accross the city. You can find a lot of them with different temperatures baths (from 16 degrees to 70 degrees).

Now regarding the partys. I went to 2 clubs and 1 bar. The first club (Moulin Rouge) was quite bad. Hot chicks were in the VIP part with some hungarian rich boys and you couldn't get closed to them. They were maybe 70% of men and 30% of women. I met an hungarian hot chick. She was smiling to me and invited me to dance. When I told her I wasn't hungarian she totally lost her interest in me and looked disappointed. I thought foreigners would have a better reputation but that wasn't the case with her. She then told me goodnight and left with her friends.

The second club (Studio) was amazing. Maybe the best club I ever been to. It was huge, with 3000 persons. It was for the 31st so the club was full. There were a huge number of hot chicks. You couldn't make 3 meters without seeing a hot girl. I saw a lot of perfect 10s.
Problem is, as it was the 31st, most of the girls were accompanied by their hungarian boyfriends. The others single ladys were not so easy since they don't speak a good english. With the music it's almost impossible to start a conversion in this place and the only game that works there is to start dancing with the chick hopping she will like it.
We were approached by some chicks but they were quite ugly (like 5-6).
Another thing I noticed, hungarian guys take a lot of drugs. There was an amasing line in the bathroom and the boys entered at 3 or 4 to sniff things.
This club is located on an island on the Danube. Actually on this island you can find 4 or 5 clubs so you can change. For example at 6am you have the official after party/breakfast in another club.

Cost of life: It's obviously cheaper. You can eat in a good restaurant for 10€. Menu burger King: 3-4€
Cost of beer in a bar: 1€
Vodka in a club: 4€
Only bad point: the taxis. Maybe because we were strangers but a 10min taxi trip = 40€ !

I would recommend Budapest but definitely not during this period. If you have to go there, go from April to October when the weather is nice and you can walk in the city without feeling like a Mister Freeze.
It must be really hot in those clubs during the summer...

I enjoyed the report.

FYI, a lot of people do a lot of drugs everywhere. It's not exclusive to gender or location. But, whatever...

You mentioned "we." How many people were you with?

Yes I totally agree with you on the drugs, but it's the first time I saw in a club a situation like that, maybe 30 persons waiting to take drugs and nobody told them anything but whatever

Only two friends could come with me, we were a small group...

It's quite strange when girls become unattracted to you when they learn you're in a foreigner. Maybe they are searching for something long term?

Good report

I like your numbers. Anything more than 3 is just cumbersome. At any rate, glad you enjoyed yourself!

@ Roosh
Yes, I find it strange too...

The same thing would happen in Prague. I asked one of my Czech friends about it (a guy), and he told me that Czech girls wouldn't be attracted to foreign guys because of how homogeneous Czech society is (and I imagine the same is true of Hungary). There's not as much of a precedent for dating outside one's "race" as there is elsewhere in the world.

Hi all -- I'm very late to the message board here and sorry to try and revive a dead thread, but I can weigh in on this one with some authority.

I'm one of the aforementioned foreign guys who's been living in Budapest for going on 8 years now, and while there's some truth to what Eric says, it all depends on what kind of girl you're dealing with. Hungary, like the Czech republic, does have a sort of monolithic, homogenous society, but even within that there's all sorts of variations on that. You have party girls, indie chicks, hipsters, homebodies, countryside girls, and so on and so forth. Some would entertain the idea of hooking up with foreigners, and some wouldn't. It's common sense, basically, but essentially, the more educated the Hungarian girl -- and this is a huge one, the more time the Hungarian girl's spent outside of Hungary -- the more likely she's to have any sort of interest in a foreign dude.

So, foreign dudes should try their luck in more unassuming places like Szimpla, Godor, Mumus, Corvinteto, etc... basically the sit-down boozecans where you're more likely to encounter liberal-minded hipster chicks. Blingy megaclubs like Studio and Bed Beach and Coronita are more of a crapshoot, full of peasant-minded nouveau riche girls who probably speak little English, and while you're guaranteed to have your eyes pop out of your head at those places, your chances of pulling are significantly lower there (unless you run really really really tight game and have a ton of cash to throw around.)

And of course, there's always Piaf for when it's 5am and all other options are no longer on the table!

Good Reports. By the way everyone talks about Hungary being the Porn capital of Europe, where hot girls only get paid $150 per film, I had this wild image in my head that the girls would drop their panties at their first sight of a foreigner. Saddening to see that image shattered ;'(

Yes, sadly, it's not 1997 in Hungary anymore. As far as I can tell, it's halfway to turning into Austria: boring, middle-class, and static.

Having said that, there are still great places *outside* of Budapest. I highly recommend Szeged, Debrecen, and Pecs. They're all apealing college towns and full of friendly people. And gorgeous girls with little to no attitude, attitude being something BP has way too much of.

Budapest like all capitals in Europe are difficult to score. It was never easy. It's easy only in the secondary cities and towns. Unless you are mentally retarded, you would know that. And besides the girls are hotter always outside the capital.

Hungary is not a homoegenous country. If you lived there for many years, would know that.

Hungarian DNA is filled with huns, avars, agyars, goths, slavs, mongols, turks, and even gypsie - whether they want to accept it or not. Does that type of DNA sound like a homogenous country ??? NO.

Even the Czechs are not homogenous. They are filled with west slavs, goths, and celts.

Only nations that are homogenous are Britain, Germany, and the Nordic countries. All have those are filled with the ugly women.

I don't know if this is a joke, but Britain is definitely not a homogenous society. Their history is filled with invasions. Germany and Scandinavia may be relatively homogenous (if you don't count the immigrant populations), but definitely not filled with ugly women. The German girls I've seen, especially around Saxony and Bavaria have generally been beautiful and had amazing skin. Berlin on the other hand...

@ Romulus -- By "homogenous" I wasn't referring to ethnic makeup. Of course I realize that Hungary's been a crossroads for various invasions and migrations all throughout (and before) its thousand-year history, and that it's led to the hybrid vigour you see everywhere (different coloured eyes, hair, etc.) What I meant was that Hungary is *culturally* homogenous, even after Magyarizing so many Croats, Serbs, and Slovaks back in the pre-Trianon days. It's 95% white Hungarian people nowadays. Aside from that, there are gypsies, a couple thousand Chinese immigrants, a few thousand expat d-bags from Western Europe and North America, and that's about it.

In other words, you don't get the same cultural variety you get in immigrant-heavy places like the UK or Canada. Nor do you get the vast regional differences you find in countries like Italy or Ukraine.

Went there a long weekend in November... easy approachable, but a lot girls don't speak english at all. And the hungarian language is way too difficult too understand. Cheap city and cheap beers!
