Sports Commentators... Ultimate Betas?

Is it just me or are Sports Commentators the prime example of beta behavior?

Arguing about shit they have no control over...
Losing their tempers over stupid shit...
False macho personas...
Pussies IRL...

The list could go on.

If anything, I think that video proves the opposite. For a small, regular-ass dude, Rome was mad ballsy for talking shit to the guy's face and not backing down when threatened with violence by an NFL quarterback. His voice didn't even quaver.

Otherwise, I'd agree that a lot of these guys make a living analyzing something they'd never be able to do themselves and talking shit they would never say to anyone's face. The Bob Costas, Marv Alberts, and Stan Van Gundys of the world conform to that model.

But for every Bob Costas, there's a Charles Barkeley that actually used to play the game and kick ass day in and day out.

Jim Rome doesn't strike me as beta. My impression is that he is more alpha.
