Smoking in Jamaica

No this is not a weed question. My brother has a case of asthma and allergy to cigarette smokes especially indoors. I can't find any information on if smoking is allowed indoors (especially on resorts/hotels) in Montego Bay, Jamaica (Well I can but the google information is conflicting - some say it is banned in government buildings some say it isn't and wiki says nothing so I'm confused). So his coming with me on this trip is dependent upon the smoking rules/practices there (as it is entirely possible especially in a 3rd world country for people to ignore all the smoking rules). I don't want to be baby sitting him if he just gets sick all day or worse end my trip early.

I figured here'd be a good place to ask since there are Jamaicans on here and many travellers who been there.

I'm not too sure if there are smoking laws in Jamaica, if there are, they certainly aren't enforced very well! I haven't been to any resorts, so can't comment on those but pretty much every bar and night club that I went to (several all over the country) allowed smoking, both reefers and cancer sticks, so you might be out of luck! Some of the bars that I went in were VERY smoky, especially strip clubs, I hope this helps but its too bad about your bro man, Jamaica is an awesome place!

So would it be possible I just dump him off at a mall or a coffee shop or something or do they smoke in regular malls and restaurants too.

I'm not too sure about malls, most restaurants I went in allowed smoking, its gonna be hard man, if its that big of a deal, I wouldn't take him or at least find another place where smoking is banned in doors. I know that here in Bogota, you can't smoke in any of the bars or restaurants that I've been to, maybe consider a trip to Colombia?

Also, if you plan on going partying and clubbing (which I highly recommend) it WILL be smoky, so are you just gonna leave your bro at the hotel, that doesn't sound like too much fun for him!
