A monumental ruling in BC, he has just won the right to sue the woman who has falsely accused him of rape. Even if he doesn't win his libel case I hope future people who consider filing false rape accusations as a good form of retribution think twice before crying 'rape-wolf.'

However, there is nothing the courts can do to erase the time this poor fella has lived in fear and agony.

Not a rapist nor a false accuser, be!

Well, I think this case has a relatively good chance of succeeding, since this guy is 100% airtight - they were hundreds of km apart when she made the accusation. I hope this guy has good legal counsel and wins, AND the media takes some notice. Women HAVE to know there are consequences to false accusations.

If the media does take notice, I unfortunately see the narrative being at best split between the reprehensible actions and malice of the accuser and the affects such cases will have on women coming forward in the future.

I was reliably informed by a friend with a degree in law in Germany that making a false accusation of rape does constitute a form of perjury over there and is punished accordingly.
