First of all, the WWE has no room to talk or be some kind of moral judges on anything because they are as racist as they can get. Over the years they have promoted lame stereotypical racial stereotypes with some of their superstars and gimmicks. Vince McMahon has said the "N" word multiple times and live on TV. I recall him calling Booker T the "N" word.

I don't know if you guys remember back in the 90s a wrestler named "Kamala" from Uganda. It was a fat African who was uncivilized, vicious, cannibalistic, who pranced around in loincloth and face paint. He was always inside his cage during his entrance and had a handler who told him how to do a pin.

Another horrible gimmick was the one of three Mexican wrestlers who were called the "Mexicools". They would come out wearing matching overalls and riding to the ring on a lawnmower. Their special weapons? Rakes and brooms.

Also, Vince McMahon couldn't let a good Muslim situation go to waste post 9/11 with the wrestler "Muhammad Hassan" where they debuted in Alabama of all places. His heel gimmick was so good that he even got death threats.

Hulk Hogan (The All-American hero) saves Shawn Michaels from what seemed like some kind of hanging over the rope by Muhammad Hassan. Shawn Michaels later said after the match that he's never heard the crowd roar and pop like that in his professional career.

Can't forget about Shelton Benjamin's Momma

Alberto Del Rio slapped a WWE employee for calling him a wetback.


I must admit though that Vince McMahon is a marketing genius and isn't scared of using racial stereotypes to promote certain gimmicks, but he is no moral judge when it comes to racism. They want to get rid of Hogan for saying the N word? The WWE? Give me a break.

WWE has trolled everyone. The Iron Sheik, all the Soviet Russian characters over the years, etc. etc.

About five months before he passed away, I was at the Toronto west end YMCA checking in and look behind me - and there was Roddy Piper also checking in. He looked great. I did not say anything to him bc I did not want to invade his personal space.

I give up on modern wrestling. It has become too scripted, Hollywood, and over superficial. It has also become a lot more dangerous - with wrestlers trying to maintain the very unhealthy life style - steroids and the over the top gymnastics moves.

Old wrestling had a realism and mystery. The best for me was the original Sheik. He sent terror and mayham wherever he went. He only weighed 240lbs and never spoke a word of English. Back then wrestlers rarely got hurt but wrestling was real as ever.

I got a wake up call after finding out about the company's response to incidents like owen hart's fall to death in front of a live audience, and of course when they simply ghosted when Chris Benoit literally went crazy from years of Brain trauma sustained in their rings.
As an aside, there's several legitimate websites reporting on the deaths of current or past wrestlers. Almost all of them are dying prematurely and painfully. WWE is never held accountable for this.

Owen's death was unfortunate, and WWF/E did end up paying $18 million in a court settlement to the Hart family.

Benoit's death I think is on him more than WWE. Not only did he kill himself, but he took two others with him. At most they could have stopped him from doing certain wrestling moves (diving headbutt), but Benoit had a lot of personal issues regardless, within his own introverted mind shutting out a healthy social life in his teenage years to focus on working out. He was on his 3rd marriage in 2000 by the age of 33 with a woman with her own issues - a known reputation for kinky BDSM, who had filed for divorce from him after 3 years (later withdrawn).

There's even a theory he killed her during sex, as Xanax, as well as codeine & morphine-related drugs were found in her body with no signs of restraint. She died in their bedroom, limbs bound, of asphyxiation, with bruises on her back and stomach and a pull cord around her neck - of course, he may have intentionally set this all up to kill her. I think it may have been unintentionally, possibly some role-play sex gone wrong, but who knows.

I love wrestling, been watching it off and on since the attitude era. The Royal Rumble on the 29th already has an exciting lineup.

I kind of doubled down on my mma/wwe/nfl watching after the streep rant a couple weeks ago. They announced that Kurt Angle is getting inducted to the hall of fame this year, so he might finally be coming home. Overall I think the show has gotten more interesting these past few months.

NJPW has come a long way since Inoki-ism. Hell, they even overcame WWE raiding their talent one year ago. It's a testament to how completely stacked the roster is; four top talents leave and the product is right back on schedule 365 days later.

NJPW is far ahead of WWE in terms of in-ring matches. WWE has the most stacked roster in its history, and far too many in-ring limitations for wrestlers to work with. Not to mention it's over-saturation.

In these coming years, we'll see guys from the Indies(Omega,Ospreay, Zack Sabre Jr., Chuck Taylor..etc) who aren't willing to relinquish 'artistic integrity' for a meaty contract. NJPW's expansion into the West will prove beneficial for those guys.

Puroesu(Japanese Pro-Wrestling) is rooted in tradition which ironically is what makes it so fresh. Japanese guys who utilize a more 'stiff' and 'shoot' moveset call it 'Strong Style'. A number of guys who work on the Indies in the states use it as opposed to 'Flippy Shit'. Though, 'Strong Style' that's used outside of Japan is toned down.
No one would book a mofo who legitimately beats the shit out of guys, unless the guy is a big draw.

Went into Wrestlemania 33 with low expectations because of its lackluster build, and it turned out to be perhaps the best Wrestlemania is the past ten years. Watched it at a bar with a bunch of passionate folks. The place shook when The Hardy Boyz' music hit.

These are guy who have been working still, since the day they left WWE. They've been a fixture on the independent scene, and actually managed to have a career revival with the BROKEN gimmick on TNA. The shit is so hilariously bizarre, they became the biggest thing in the business for a hot minute:

A brother nearly shed a tear by the end of the show with The Undertaker; dude is an institution. Mark Callaway has been present in every single era of that company's existence since they've been on television. The decision to have his demise come at the end of Roman Reigns(discount Jason Momoa) is understood, but lackluster nonetheless.

My earliest memories of Taker date back to the Ruthless Aggression era of 'Smackdown!', with the rest of the Big Five(Eddie,Rey,Benoit,Angle,Cena). Guy creeped me the fuck out, but managed to capture my imagination while doing it. One of the guys who I'll cite as to why I decided to get into the industry. Much respect.

In one year's time, it'll be Reigns vs. Lesnar. The only two men to have pinned Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Can't imagine how much of a debacle that'll be considering how hated Reigns is and how over Lesnar continues to be. Case in point:
