Recently reading all the threads about celebrities getting played by sloots (mediocre ones in some cases too) had me like many others wondering why these ballers put up with all that shit when they could easily be swooping 9's every single day of the week.

I've finally concluded that it is what i'd like to call Male Hypergamy.

We all know its not all about the sex but the validation you get from it too. I'd actually say it mostly about the validation. That is why men fork out thousands of dollars on Game seminars instead of shelling out the same for a constant supply of bad escort pussy for a year.

I've know a guy who rejects hot asian bitches throwing themselves at him on the reg because asian girls are foreigners with "low value" and don't feed his ego.

Same can be said with celebrities. Being at the top of the totem pole status wise, they can fuck a solid 9/10 HBB blonde, wanna be model from Nebraska who'll worship the ground he walks on while fucking his brains silly daily. But being of lower value than he is, she doesn't provide validation.

That is why he'd rather take a 6/10 hollywood slut who's being passed around in the industry. If rapper x banged her … she must have value. He can say he fucked rapper x's ex. Instant validation and someone you can parade around.

Also heard a lot of guys say stuff like" i banged this girl … 29 y/o, dentist, went to Texas Tech … " ! Them fucking a doctor who could have had her pick of more higher value guys gives them that much needed ego boost so they'll drop their standards in exchange for validation.

Just the other week, I smashed a girl who has a serious BF. She enjoys sex but wants a BF too.

This is untrue - men are not hypergamous.

Hypergamy is "dating/marrying up" where the person(woman) will shack up with someone higher status than themselves. Men basically never do this. Women almost always aim for men who are more valuable than them in every aspect (looks, wealth, power) where men almost always date equal or down save for the minority of men who have cosmic status and can have their pick of 9's even if hey are not as attractive.

Men tend to be more realistic with their pursuits.

EXAMPLE: Fat and/or incredibly average women who only want attention from men who are in the top 10% of looks and are successful.

To answer the OPs question as to whether or not men will trade up for the sake of being with a higher status girl, I would say not. You're going to pick the hottest girl.

I think this is all just a matter of semantics.

Women love status.
Men love beautiful young women.
Status has value to women.
Looks have value to men.

Any rational person is going to trade up and get more value whenever possible. Hypergamy is just a word that describes a female trading up to maximize the value she is recieving. If we so wished we could expand it to be gender inclusive, or we could pick another word. In other words, it doesn't matter.

I have to respectfully disagree somewhat with the prior posts. I have noticed that a quite a number of men are indeed hypergamous with respect to status as well, though of course not to the explicit extent of women.

Not in terms of notches, but LTR's.

ESP in DC and NYC I have seen many men who notched up 7's and 8's on a frequent basis only to 'settle' with a 6 or low 7 for LTR where the 6/7 was much higher status than the 7/8's he was notching. These are men that are also somewhat red pill.

The 6/7 they get into LTR's with are much more highly educated, often equal or greater than the man, from elite schools, good/strong families, elite careers (if not in remuneration then in status) - essentially matching SES with the man.

The segment of population that I've noticed this phenomenon in is men in their late 20's/mid 30's, upper middle class, 6 figure salaries, top 25 private college undergrad/grad schools, and/or strong prep school backgrounds as well, maybe West Point and/or OCS stint.
