Haven't found any English reports, so I will summarize the story. City of Bs As legislator Maria Rachid has proposed an AR$8000 per month pension for transexuals over 40 years old who live in the capital and make less than AR$22,400. 8000 pesos is around US$600 at the blue exchange rate, US$940 at the official rate. Not chump change.

Rachid's goal is for this law to help those who are 'excluded from society'. "The average age of this population is 35, therefore those who reach 40 are survivors. We estimate that there are no more than 100 in Buenos Aires. The average age is very low because they were excluded from society from a young age and forced into sexual labor and prostitution."

I'm not in favor of sexual slavery, but this is preposterous and rectifies nothing. I doubt this will pass into law.
