It's like saying I've only got time to shower but not to brush my teeth. Playing sports isn't going to put on much muscle and won't help you lift more, lifting weights complements everything. Lift first and play sports second.
Playing sports vs. Lifting
I do sports for cardio and lift for gains and aesthetics. If I only had time for one, I'd choose sports. More fun and I think the overall health benefits are greater.
While lifting obviously does more to build muscle, I find that playing sports builds confidence, character, and inner game. Do both.
Both!
They complement each other.
Sports provide cardio, fresh air, total body movement, friendship, a simulated battle against an opponent, balance, coordination.
Lifting provides muscle, power, size, intensity, shape, form, look, a mental battle against yourself.
Stretching is the next level.
It's all connected.
