Sticking Points

Hey all,

I've been lurking for months now. Since I hadn't been doing any approaches, nothing to post. A few weeks ago I started going out 3-4 days a week, mostly daygame on the street. I've probably done 30-40 approaches at least during the day.

At first I had a hard time just getting them to stop moving long enough to listen to the opener (direct- "thought you were cute/looked incredible so I had to say hi").

But lately I've been pretty good at getting them to stop long enough to listen, but almost always, they say "thank you!" and then move to walk off. As if I just said that to say it, and not continue talking. After the opener I usually ask her name and what's she's up to.

If she says somewhere interesting and she's open, I can usually lead the conversation from there. That's not the case most of the time though, and I feel like there were quite a few girls I could have had a conversation with, if only I could've gotten them engaged.

I'd like to get past this point, and I'm going out day and night Friday. Does anyone have any ideas or tactics I could try out?
I'm doing this on the streets of Manhattan, if that matters.

Are you using a time constraint? Making it clear that you're you're busy too and that she'll soon be on her way can work wonders.

What are your favourite day game spots in Manhattan? I like the Apple store, Met museum and bookstores.

Hey Caligula,

I haven't used the time constraint in a looooong time. In a lot of the stuff I've read about daygame, it says to try and go for the instadate. If I say something like 'waiting for my friends etc', how could I swing the date later? Just curious. But if you say it works, I'll try it out Friday.

I've been doing exclusively street game at Union Square. I've done a handful of approaches in the subway too. Maybe 5 or 6. I live in Brooklyn, and want to try Harlem at some point. I think I need to try different areas and see if my results change.

How long have you been working at daygame? Do you have a method you stick to?
