Sweet tooth bingeing

I have a similar problem. There are times when I go for weeks without eating any sugar, but there are binges too. It won't make me fat because I walk and exercise a lot and have a great metabolism, but I'll still get acne and feel uneven. I dislike ice cream (yes, you read that right!) and am not fond of eating pure chocolate, so my sweet tooth food of choice is usually something baked and chocolaty, like this:

After a long period of fighting this, I've simply switched to eating sugary stuff more regularly, but in smaller amounts. I'll have a very small portion (like 25g) of these things shown above, or put some sugar in my coffee, or have a slice of cake at a caffe with a friend. I won't, however, ever combine them. If I've already had coffee with sugar in the morning, the rest of the day I just tell myself "it's ok, you'll get your sweets later" and wait to have them until tomorrow or in a few days. It's been easier to keep myself in check that way.

I also ate fries and some cake today. Can't believe I've been eating this shit for a week now.
I must have the worst metabolism in the world.
As soon as I'm not eating strict I'm starting to swoll up. Where is the balance?

Gonna be great to soon have access to my own custom kitchen again.
But first some legendary BBQ sticks in Thailand... And all the other little things.

Have dealt with this a lot.

Ultimately I think it's psychological - but there are behavioural and environmental steps you can take to mitigate it.

-Eating big meals with lots of protein and good fats - coconut oil, grass-fed butter, etc - then you're "satisfied". You might indulge, but when you're full of substantial macronutrients you're way less likely to smash half a kilo of chocolate

-When you're bored and "thrillseeking" from food, go with a healthy buzz - coconut oil and green tea is a great combo here. The MCFAs in coconut oil (or coconut chunks) give you an uplifting mental-energy, combines well with the caffeine and theanine in green tea.
Dark chocolate too - less sugar than milk choc - although I find it too easy to abuse and actually get a real crash from the caffeine/theobromine/sugar. Coconut oil+ green tea is cleaner.

-Not shopping hungry.

-Drinking a large glass or 500ml bottle of water or water + protein powder before indulging a craving. Actually, drinking lots of water in general throughout the day is good for keeping cravings lower.

-Replacing your indulgent sweat binge with a slightly-less-unhealthy-but-still-similar indulgent sweet binge. Example: Instead of 250g of maltesers or a tub of ice cream, go with a tub of organic greek yoghurt with honey and fruit.
Still very dense in calories but it's much less poisonous/damaging to your body, and still gives you that "mmm I just ate a whole chocolate cake" kind of tasty satisfaction. Then you dont feel totally wrecked after.

-Supposedly glutamine is great for suppressing sugar cravings

For the last two weeks my caloric intake has been about 600-800 calories /day with no persistent feeling of hunger. 150 mg of wellbutrin on wakeup and 2.5 mg of cabergoline every 3.5 days. Eat in an intermittent fashion, one or two small meals a day, all in the evening, whithin four hours of each other. Paleo/keto friendly. Eggs, beef, chicken, fish, green veggies. About a handful /palm sized amount abates any feeling of hunger. If stressed / anxious and may become to feel hungryish i take another 150 or wellbutrin. Also seem to give even less fucks about stupid shit that would get a rise out of me

I need something sweet too to cleanse the palate after a meal. I keep a big bucket of twizzlers (brand of red licorice) around for that. Yes it is still a candy, but one or two twists are a better choice than a handful of oreos. Going from an old habit of after dinner cookies to water or hot tea can be a big jump, so it works as a 'shift down'.

This facepalm is for myself for suggesting eating TWIZZLERS in the fitness forum, and an 'eat less sugar' thread no less.

As a guy who's dad was a chef and mom a supreme baker; there was ALWAYS a Red Velvet Cake or Sweet Potato pie within reach

If it was for sports growing up; I can imagine I would be pushing 300 easy right now

All time favs : chocolate chip cookies

When I got my 1st place, It was nothing to wake up to a moon pie and wash it down with some 'red' kool-aid *cringe*

Luckily - as I've gotten older my tastes buds have changed and so now a lot of the shit I tortured myself with in my 20's are now too sweet to me.

Instead like some others it's more fruits : strawberries, bananas, cherries...and I've come back full circle to eating more yams

I still cheat on the weekends, but now I try to hold my more accountable

I suck at resisting sweets when I'm around them, every time I go visit my mother she has shit like chocolate eclairs, cupcakes, cookies and candy around the house and I always eat that shit, go home and wake up the next day with a bunch of pimples feeling like garbage. My apartment is void of that stuff though and as long as its not around I don't really crave it and if I crave something sweet I'll have a couple bites of dark chocolate (which I do keep around, but its better then milky ways and cupcakes). Sometimes I'll eat my eggs with a little maple syrup or have butternut squash with a tablespoon of brown sugar, those things satisfy my urge.

Listen to your body. If you're craving chocolate, that normally means your body wants more protein and fat. If you're craving sweets, it means you need more simple carbs in your diet. Eat more healthy saturated fats and protein. Bacon in the morning is a good source for this.

Try upping your protein and eating more fresh fruit. I have one hell of a wicked sweet tooth, but I satisfy it by eating a lot of fruit sugars and consuming protein.
