That's not correct, there are. Some minor tax ones to start. But the biggest reason is that if you have kids or get a house with someone then marriage provides better protection from the significant others eventual debt or family.

The common taxation on income for married couples was abolished in 1971. The last tax break was abolished in 2007 when wealth tax was abolished. To the best of my knowledge there aren't any tax incentives for married couples, not even minor ones.

You can get similar protection by writing a will with the exception of a small amount. At the same time dissolving the relationship is easier and less costly if you aren't married.

The real economical difference (that can't be overcome by other methods) comes if the couple moves to other countries that have different rules for couples thst are married. The most extreme case is in the Middle East where getting married might be the only way to be able to legally live together.
