Women Call In Sick 43% More than Men

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...212846.htm

I have helpers , college girls. who clean my apartment, and with these young women you generally are going to get almost 1/10 to 1/6 calling in sick.

I looked up an article and voila, strong independent women aren't so strong.

What's so funny is they reframe it as "women being better at recognizing when they're sick"

Clearly with this data + the fact that they are on an emotional roller coaster ride once a month during their period it means that women should not be trusted working in an office environment or heaven forbid running a company!! I'm outraged!!!

My father owns a children's nursery and thus only employs women

The average cumulative time taken off per year due to sickness is 2 weeks

That's going a bit far, but when I am running a two person company-- me and an assistant, and then on certain days I bring in five highly paid actors, cinematographers, etc-- all of who can only be there the specific days they committed to-- and all of whom are needed at the same time, what am I supposed to do?

Take the 1/5 chance little snookums is feewing bad that day?

That actually doesn't sound that bad-- figuring 220 work days a year roughly, and 10 sick, it's only about 1/22 days.

I'm getting much higher than that but they're spoiled, young, American girls who are not really making a living off the part time work I can offer.

Working with women is a constant motivator to check out of this society, avoid women outside of work, and focus all my attention and energy on moving out of the USA.

They compare overall pay of men to women to come up with the bullshit of a woman only makes .76 cents for every $1 a man makes.

I want to see a comparison between how many hours WORKED (not paid vacation) between men and women.

In all fairness, men get sick and/or call in sick too. While this sort of thing certainly (further) demolishes the gender wage gap claims, I wouldn't not hire a woman based on this data.

Anyone read this story where this female producer opened a company and hired women only?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/articl...lict-.html

She did not know what she got herself into - hehe.

Of course women can be diligent and disciplined workers. The seamstresses in the abject industrial era conditions before the 20th century were working while spitting blood. Women are more prone to disease and do have a higher number of weaker days - nowadays probably caused by highly toxic food, drinking alcohol on the level of men and they comprise the majority of smokers already - so yes it will impact them more than men.

But the more important reason is likely that they can get away with it in our feminized system. Feeling bad? Call in sick. Boyfriend left me? Call in sick. Rainy day? Call in sick.

This is totally illegal here but I would never hire a woman under 50 years old for anything.

Could be worse though…if you really fancy a laugh check out the statistics for the UK public service (gov jobs)...

For a nursery, that's pretty good actually. (Re: two weeks off a year)

We'll you're allowed some paid sick days at most companies. And if you don't use them by the end of the year you lose them. It's a free day. Guys tend to be martyrs at work to brown nose and move up. Women are there for a job not a career despite what they say.

^^ Yep that was me back in the day. Not using my damn sick days...even if I wasn't feeling well or terribly busy at work.

If it's only 43% more, seems like it could easily just be period / emotional. Think about it. That means if I take 2 per year a chic takes 3. If I take 5 per year a chic takes 7-8. Doesn't seem that outrageous.

Now that I've glanced at the study...it was pretty narrow in scope. Muni workers in Helsinki between ages 40-60.

Women call in sick 43% more than men. Women claim they make 23% less than men.

My math says women are overpaid by 20%

Also, a lot of women take sick days to do chores, or if they are parents to deal with kid stuff. This is one of many reasons a female manager/CEO will often try to hire men rather than women.

My own opinion is that "sick days" in workplaces should be regarded as just part of an annual leave entitlement. If you're sick a lot you use up all your days in bed. If you're healthy you still get the days off, but get to do whatever you want with them. If you contract some disease, or are involved in some accident that requires a lengthy absence, the law should protect your job, but the time off should be unpaid. Employees should be encouraged to take out loss of earnings insurance if they would be unable to cover this eventuality.

Everyone's interests are covered by this sort of deal. Except people who want to abuse the "system" and the co-workers who have to take up the slack.

...

This should be of no consequence why they take days off. Over 80% of women are secretaries (assistants), nurses, teachers, clerks or service workers just like they were in the 1950s.

If they had not been sold the lie about the "empowerment" of having a job, then most would have stayed at home, but that would have made them dependable upon their "oppressive" husbands, so here we are.

It is fine, if they take care of their children, but don't think that you should be treated equally in the job-market. This was one of the reasons for feminism - 50% expansion of the taxable population and more wage pressure, since women were pushing needlessly into the job-market.

My little brother works in restaurant as a bus boy for the summer and he tells me that the majority of the people who complain are the waitresses who are pure 8-10s. He told me that a week ago they had like a little protest and the main people behind the protest was an 18 year old girl and 3 other waitresses. They were complaining that they work so hard for very little pay (which is not true by the way). They make 400-500 bucks a week being waitresses.

The owner grilled them and told them "you act like I need you, I can replace you in a minute, if you don't like it you can work somewhere else". Its funny because the Mexican cooks weren't even complaining at all and they make less than all the waitresses. My brother told me that the owner then told him after the protest was over "If you ever get a business, try not to hire girls that are too hot, because they feel they are entitled and think everything should be given to them" These girls are really attractive at his work, but the entitlement complex with these girls is through the roof. Their "protest" failed completely and were asked to sit down, shut up, and get back to work.

One facet of my job is financial consulting for a few small businesses.

One guy in particular is under considerable stress, and it's largely because he has so many women working for him. They complain so f'ing much it's ridiculous. To be fair, a couple of them are really good at their jobs. But it just astonishes me, and not just there but everywhere, two things in the modern workplace:

1) How bringing one's emotional baggage to work, and how expressing those emotions is not only acceptable, but in some cases considered a sign that that person 'cares'.

2) How difficult it is today to fire someone. So many businesses are loath to fire someone due to fear of a lawsuit.

My father taught my sisters something that every girl should learn. "You are not entitled to shit. If you want anything in this life you earn it, you sweat for it. If what you want something that costs money work for it. If you want something more expensive you better work harder because no one hands you anything in this world so get hustling."

I've seen this happen during my working life.

One job i worked at my manager took off more time due to her migraines (which i also suffered from) than the 4 other people for the year.
Slowly everyone lost respect for her, not because she was sick all the time but because she was weak and couldn't lead a team for shit.
Last few jobs i've had there was always some young girl who had "personal problems" and needed time off. In the end they never came back after being gone for a week.

In my experience the main cause of sick leave at work is weight issues/obesity. Fat people are sick more often. Men seem to be able to handle carrying the extra weight around better than women, so fat men take less sick leave than fat women. I have worked with a number of women over the years who took a day for menstrual sick leave almost every month, but then worked a little harder to keep up with their work and did fine (and they were not overweight, and they were not American). So, if you are screening job applicants, I would first look at their girth before their sex as a discriminator.

A female boss told me over 15 years ago that she would never hire a young woman because a lot of them have to take time off to have kids and always need to take sick days for some reason.

I’ve worked at a few large companies in Corporate America and nearly all of the capable female admins are 40+ years old and at most a 6 looks wise. They’re hired for their capability, not because of their looks. Some of them can make over $150k/year if they work for the CEO. I've only seen very hot admins at some very small firms.

I have worked in an office where I was the only guy. However, it wasn’t that bad. The women were all counselors working for the government so they weren’t into shallow crap like handbags. Also half of them were gay, but not feminist man hating gays. You would never they were dykes unless they told you. They were pretty feminine.

One of my brothers worked in an office with a lot of women about 15 years ago. He’s a good looking guy and some of the women made it known to him that they wanted to bang, but he was loyal to his girlfriend (now wife) so he made it plain that he wasn’t interested. After that they started acting like total bitches towards him and he got out as soon as he could.

I wish more companies adopted the 3-weeks off policy. You have a total of 15 days for sick or vacation. If you use 15 sick days then you have 0 vacation time. This will reduce the desire to call in after an extra thirsty Thursday, or just to skip a day because someone does't "feel like going in".

For those who work in an office, watch the ones that are sick a lot. You will notice that they will come in while they have a cold and also during the worst day of allergy season. However, it is quite peculiar that they mostly call in on Mondays or Fridays. I wonder why that could be...
