Does anyone know how to set up a private email account?

For example, if I wanted a @runsonmagic.com email address, and I've already got a url and server, how would I do that?

your host should be able to help you with that.
Most hosting packages have email setup included.

This. The hosting provider that serves your files will also receive the incoming email traffic on the same domain. If they have a control panel, it's usually a few clicks and done.

That being said, I recommend simply forwarding the messages to a better email provider, most hosting providers' web clients are crap. So if you have a gmail or similar, just use the option to forward it there. YMMV.
