I'm having great benefits adding more green vegetables to my diet like spinach. I feel better, more alive.
It's ancient wisdom and now common scientific knowledge that greens are among the most powerful food you can add to your diet.
I even have friends who are on a raw vegan diet and they juice a lot of greens. They swear by the positive results.
I wanted to open this thread to see if anyone else has gained positive results from adding more greens to your diet.

For sure.
Broccoli has a compound that clears excess estrogen from the body.
Not to mention how fiber helps to ahem...move things along.

Yes it does, and not just broccoli, but all of the vegetables in that family group including cauliflower. And all vegetables and fruits have abundant fiber. Greens almost have a mystical health benefits to them from what I understand. Very curious to see if anyone did a green juice thing too.

That would be the brassica family, which includes broccoli and cabbage. Speaking of cabbage, I've got some sauerkraut that is now ready to eat, thanks to this thread:

All of this is good (I have a juicer and juice vegetables) - Just be careful not to overdo it.
I read about a guy who juiced a lot of spinach every day and he died.
The reason is that it has a lot of oxylates that wrecked his kidneys.

Broccoli helps the skin quite a bit too.
The taste is awful but if it's extremely healthy i'll deal with it.

I enjoy the fresh cabbage, the most simplest and cheapest one. Its season right now and their very good. I just eat it raw or put into salads.

Boiling dino kale/broccoli/spinach and other oxalate rich veggies removes most of it. Another thing is to add in a source of calcium as the oxalates will bind to it and reduce/eliminate the detrimental effects. I heard somewhere, if I remember correctly, massaging your kale prior to boiling it helps with releasing the oxalates. Happy ending

Here's some good info on oxalates.

I have friends who drink 10 big batches of spinach per day and some more. Normal healthy people will never have to worry about talking in too many oxalates as their body processes it all fine. Good link from @birdie
What was Popeye's motto? I'm strong till the finish cuz I eats me spinach. This seems to be ancient wisdom. Wondering others results. Perhaps try adding 2-3 batches of spinach to your diet for 1 month and see if you feel better, stronger etc...

After struggling to get enough vegetables in my diet for years, the key for me has been getting a blendtec, and freezing ALL my vegetables - kale, beats- everything. That way I don't have to put as much energy into keeping track of what I'm running out of, or what is about to go bad.

I agree with the sentiment food is the best medicine and the best thing for preventative health. I planted a garden this summer nothing big or huge just like 5 or 6 potted plants. I got fresh cilantro, butter lettuce grows back really quickly after picking, various types of peppers.
Not that Um saving a ton of money as I can only grow so much with my setup but its a nice hobby gets me a little bit of free strawberries and veggies and os sorta rewarding eating what you grow.
Just last night I broiled some cod with tajin spice and made a pineapple chutney with sum fresh peppers and cilantro from my garden.

No better feeling than eating what you've grown! Definitely a rewarding experience.. Knowing what has been put into it. I grew an heirloom tomato plant a few years back.. ended up harvesting 30+ pounds of delicious tomatoes. Think the biggest was around 4 pounds! Miss having property.

My girls family turned me onto ceboilletas I probably spelled that wrong but badically small onions you can eat raw or grilled. Really great grilled with some lime. Goes great with steak. You can grow them easily as well. Some call them green onions but some will refer to them as knob onions. You can grow them yourself or pick them up at mexican grocery stores. I also like putting tajin seasoning on them
