Instead of protein powder and shakes, does anyone recommend some pills that I can take to supplement protein?
Protein pills
Proper diet is a better route to protein, and pure bulk whey powder is the best way if you absolutely insist on supplementing.
Pills are not cost effective.
Period.
Same thing for creatine.
Buy powder bulk.
Same for preworkout.
Buy your own ingredients, mix your desired formula.
And don't pay more to not have to research your own ratios, etc.
Do you research everything before you buy a car?
Make sure the price your paying is justified by the performance you're getting?
If you could get Porsche looks and performance for Geo Metro price, but you had to spend a few nights researching the materials... you would.
This is your own body.
Buy a lb steak, or buy protein powder by the 5lb bag.
Chances are you cannot possibly need more than 150g of protein a day.
And that's assuming you're 200+lbs, and on a heavy workout routine.
Cook a lb steak for dinner (roughly 100g protein along with valuable fats) and eat a couple yogurts (7-10ish g of protein depending on brand etc plus valuable microbiotics) and you're there.
And not chugging some barely good shake daily.
Or eating a hand full of pills.
For basically the same price.
Or buy chicken breasts and get the protein for even cheaper than powder.
Plus you get better at cooking.
Self improvement in multiple aspects.
Sorry for not having pills to suggest, but they just aren't an effective or logical approach, because it can be done much more cost effectively through diet, and proper diet will have far better results than just upping protein intake.
Or if you like milk.
Half a gallon is like 60g of protein and a shit ton of carbs if you're trying to gain weight.
Probably not the best choice if you wanna lose it though haha

I ditched protein powder years ago. This is the only supplement I use anymore sans vitamins. They are also packed full of aminos.
I usually just quick down 4-6 of them before meals, and of course my meals are packed with protein as well. The majority of your protein intake needs to come from actual food, pills like these just give you a little extra boost.
They are pretty cheap too.

Edit: Forgot to mention I feel noticeably stronger when I'm on these.

The devil is in the details, and probably, I am NOT being too cooperative by NOT recommending getting nutrition from powders and supplements.
And, getting nutrition from pills seems a somewhat ridiculous idea to me, even though I know people buy them.
I am NOT even much of an enthusiast for the various powders, but they seem a little more food-like. Pills seem unnecessary and expensive compared to buying a steak and cooking it yourself, and sometimes you may NOT even realize the benefits of eating meat and fat together or adding butter or coconut oil to your meats. Or even eating anything with bacon.
It really seems that real and whole foods is the solution to get proteins and fats in any guy's diet - meats, eggs, fish, and raw dairy, if you can get it.. otherwise high fat dairy. I really wish that the USA had fewer misleading campaigns regarding raw dairy, and the westin price foundation has good links on their website. Also, organ meats, broth, cod liver oil and sardines can be good too to get nutrients out of meat and some healthy fats.
Get rid of the processed foods when you can.. and boxes that say healthy.. which is half of the time bullshit and get a higher percentage of natural whole foods into your diet that have NOT been processed.
It is funny how really smart people can be mislead. I have a guy friend who is really into healthy food and living, and I saw the carton of his eggs, and I said.. WTF? The carton said vegetarian chickens... That is really fucked up b/c chickens are NOT vegetarians... and really the best eggs would come from chickens that are naturally grazing and eating bugs.
Anyhow, sorry to go on a rant, but if you are already eating whole and good foods and find supplementing with the protein to be necessary, then something seems wrong with this picture - especially if you think that pills are really going to do any good. Of course, each of us come to our own decision, and ultimately the decision is yours to buy protein pills, if that is your choice. Seems like a big waste of money to me, with NO added benefit and potentially a false sense of well-being.
