Unlocking phones in Canada (and general I guess)

I'd rather not have to buy another phone if I can help it, but I've heard about unlocking my phone to use other SIM cards. I currently have an Android phone with T-Mobile as my provider, and would like to use it for when I go into Canada next month and in future trips. However, I have no idea how to go about this.

Theres two ways, contact T Mobile tell em you're gonna travel in about 24-48 hours maybe less they will have provided you with an unlock code for.. obviously you're account needs to be in good standing if its prepaid you may have to be a customer for some time now that will not cost you at all..

The other one is do it through ebay search for unlock codes on the model and company of your device in this case T Mobile.. it could be expensive depending on your device Samsung is usually the most expensive sometimes ranging up to 30 dollars. Other option which could be a little bit more complicated do a google search for wholesale unlock codes theres a few however be careful sometimes these pages are just scammers if you find a good one you will most likely get it cheaper than Ebay.

Root and unlock it yourself. Its not that hard, just Google for your exact make and model.

Does anyone know where to get Cheap Phones... I brought back a bunch from China and I can't find any place to get a simcard or a cheap plan (10 bucks a month)... I don't have many friends here and no interest in surfing the net or anything, just want texts.

Oh and none of this Iphone shit either, android only so I can install my own apps from my computer... I have no idea why anyone would buy an iphone. I'm used to buying phones for about 15 bucks for a decent one and 30 for a higher end job but from the prices here in Canada, looks like it starts at nearly 300 bucks for anything nearing half decent...then they have this weird bullshit about PLANS... I don't want a plan and finding prepaid is nigh impossible.

If your asking for spots in Canada, I did mine thought this site: http://www.buyncell.ca/categories/unlocking/

You can do it online. Very simple and their price was good!

Others have told me to head to Pacific Mall but when I went, I found too many vendors giving me whacked prices and long turn around time!

T-Mobile will unlock it for free if you have been a customer for a while. I believe its 6 months.
