^ Fun fact. A few people I met in Tomsk always carried pepper spray in case if some gopniks showed up and wanted trouble. Both guys and girls. These gopniks can be very unpredictable.

Several gopniks has approached me but usually they only ask for smokes.
Never had a problem with them though. In most cases they are drunken loudmouths.

I also carried pepper spray and even threatened to use it a couple of times on gopniks (not in Tomsk, but I imagine Tomsk is similar).

Asking for a smoke is a common way for them to see what your deal is and what else they can get from you. Depending on who you are and how you carry yourself, a number of things can happen from them being friendly to beating the shit out of you and taking all your belongings.

Don't know that from experience, but I think having an obvious foreign accent (being from far-abroad) and speaking some Russian to gopniks shows respect and probably reduces the risk of having problems with them.

Yeah. Lean some "bratva" language. They will respect you even more if you need this sort of "respect".

I'm curious as to whether or not what you've been experiencing is simply a regional culture, or something that would be nation-wide. I would imagine you'd have much more success in Vladivostok, Moscow, St. Pete, or any other major city. So far, it seems like Poland or Croatia would offer a better ROI than Russia. This is a double-edged sword as both are also more Americanized.

In any event, keep up the good work

I lived in USSR then Russia for 29 years. Believe me, going to Tomsk, Siberia (or, god forbid, Irkutsk) for notches is the same as going to Boise, Idaho for the best pussy USA has to offer.

If you like Siberia so much, go to Novosibirsk (https://www.google.com.au/search?q=novos...sch&sa=X).

Otherwise it's Moscow, Piter and (maybe) Yekaterinburg.

Armenian, because the people are Christian. I suspect it's worse to be considered Muslim in this part of the world, but it probably depends on the girl.

I don't know if you know but everyone in Russia knows that Russians dislike anyone from the Caucasus area (Armenia/Azerbaijan/Georgia/Chechnya/Dagestan/Ossetia/etc.). They are all considered backward peoples (kinda like Turks in some parts of Europe) not suitable for dating by a Russian girl. So I suspect you'd be better off naming a country further from Russia to sound more mysterious, not sound like a Caucasus wanker. [Image: smile.gif]

I suspect being Iranian would be less frowned upon than Armenian despite the fact they are Muslim because it sounds more mysterious (Russians don't know much about that country). Some of the Caucasus nations are indeed Christian, but most people don't care to differentiate and most people just generalize (perhaps unfairly).

It's not called "bratva language", it's called "fenya."

"Fenya" is a hardcore criminal language. If you start talking like this and you didn't do some serious years in Russian prison and earned a "reputation", you'll be in trouble.

I was referring to an average "gopnik" "bazar".

A lot of Russians I met didn't like those from the caucuses, if you said they looked Armenian or Georgian, they would get offended. If you were a light skinned Turk or Arab however, I could see being an advantage.

I was referring to street slang, not prison slang. I haven't been in jail so I don't know "fenya" that well, only some words and phrases.

You don't want to use "fenya" unless you know it very well. People who have been in jail are very careful with their words. The phrase in "fenya" for that is "filtrovat' bazar".

For example, the word "kozel" in fenya means "a faggot", but kids on the street may call each other that thinking that it just means "an asshole". If somebody in prison calls somebody else "kozel" for no reason, he may be even killed for that.

Well, a Russian girl will not come out and say "I don't believe you," but if your story is not strong, she will not commit further time to you. Sex tourism never came up, because what idiot would come to Siberia for sex? Now of course I want sex, but I thought I truly wanted to live in such a city for the long-term. Tomsk dispelled me of that notion, and now I'm considering larger cities.

Somewhat unrelated, I learned something interesting. When I would tell a girl where I was from, about 33% of girls would ask "But where are your parents from?" If she did that, it would soon be over. These are the types of girls who wouldn't date a man with a Middle Eastern background and wanted to quickly know my bloodline.

The exception is if she asks about my parentage later, like on the first date. But if it came immediately after I said "I'm from USA," she has a specific preference when it comes to heritage.

Yeah - Middle Eastern origin is a problem to some girls in the East. A friend and fellow Alpha Player is from Afghanistan and he does not do so well when going further than Poland. Plus his father is an Imam so heritage is indeed a bit tricky.

As far as background story goes I always tell that I am travelling since I a can do my job from anywhere in the world. With Russian girls I try to put in the little story I have about a good friend of mine - it is a true one. He is from Norway and met a girl online who was living in Krasnoyarsk. They talked and visited each other 2 times. After 2 years they got married and are now living together with their child in Norway. And he is even black - well - as black as Obama with a blonde mother and a black father.

And frankly I cannot even say that it is untrue that I absolutely rule out such a thing happening to me. In my opinion that should be enough as a background story for a relationship minded Russian girl. Her inner hamster will do the rest.

Another thing I tried is to hint that I could take her with me to the next city I visit. But then of course you should actually do it - with a girl especially beautiful - at least for a short trip. Going on a trip with her for 3 days is adventure and shows a certain kind of commitment that the girls like.

Some Russian girls in a way need to be wooed a bit more like the mistresses of previous generations.

Great to hear that you made the most of it, these 2nd or 3rd tier cities are so hit and miss, I have found both heaven and hell in two cities which on paper should have provided similar experiences. Am hoping for you to crush one of the 2 big cities, and then give the provinces one more shot once uni starts in the fall, with even better russian, and rebuilt confidence.

Almost all clubs/bars mentioned in this thread and also Slubu's are now closed.

I have the choice between Tomsk and Novosibirsk tomorrow. The latter being a direct 1h flight, while Tomsk has annoying train transfer in the middle of nowhere.

Not sure if the risk is worth it w Tomsk, Roosh?

Here now. Teatro still is happening and Studio46 renamed to "Place club". Can report back if anybody interested <3

City itself is really nice compared to the dump of Krasnoyarsk. Lots of student, but I am really not seeing much quality in the streets. They are too young too. But then again after years of travel in FSU I have quite high standards.
