Indonesia.....you have the ring of fire, loads of volcanoes and great surfing. Nightlife/Picking up is not as good as Thailand though

I prefer the nightlife in Indonesia, but the problem with Indonesia is that I don't know where both nature/beaches and nightlife are good or at least decent. Can you recommend a place?

I'm curious about the anti-white feelings/deeds that have been mentioned. Can anyone elaborate more on this? Is this in reference to a general hostility towards outsiders coming in to partake of the local's "own" tropical paradise, or is it specifically directed against white people and the locals are cool with blacks, hispanics, etc?

There are a shit ton of Asians and Asian Americans in Hawaii. Do they share these anti-white sentiments, or is it mainly people of original Polynesian stock that are the culprits? I'm asking all this because it has crossed my mind before to do a stint in Hawaii at soome point, but not at the expense of getting my sweet pasty azz beat to a tropical pulp [Image: confused.gif]

Double B,
You're a Hawaii boy? I was under the impression you were a Cali beach boy!
Damn, we learn new things here everyday!

I am not from Hawaii, guys. You're misreading my posts. What I said was that where I'm from is like the non-tropical version of Hawaii. I'm from Northernmost Cali - Humboldt County. The Lost Coast. A world apart from the Cali most people think of, but California is 15 hour drive from top to bottom, so it changes a lot.

No redwood forests in Hawaii last time I checked. lol Those pics I posted are of the cold (at least in winter) Northern Cali coastline.

Regarding your question, I'd say Palawan would be your best option. Has it all.
Btw, how are the beaches in Cambodia? Have you been to any there? If yes, you know the drill: drop a data homie![Image: wink.gif]

I don't really do data sheets (and I don't feel bad about that because I don't really use other guys' either). I may be heading to the beach this weekend, though. If not, the following weekend.

I'll give my general impression, but as I understand it, the beaches in Thailand and other places are better.

Partly about outsiders but specifically against whites. You can Google it or check out forums about living there. And no, the Asians don't involve themselves in this stuff.

You'll probably be fine on a vacation, though it doesn't hurt to be careful on local beaches at night. Just use your street smarts.

Live there long-term, though, and there's definitely a chance you'll bump into some tense moments here and there.

We actually get a lot of people who have homes in both Hawaii and Humboldt partly due to the similarities. And vice versa - there a lot of Hawaiin guys who end up going to college in or moving to Humboldt.

Some are the chillest guys you'll ever meet, and I'm friends with quite a few of them. Others are some of the biggest assholes you'll ever meet if you're not part of their circle.

A lot of them seem to have a very tribal mentality.

BB, I have spent a good deal of time in the 808 and up in the golden triangle. Kauai mostly, all told about a year. Riding my bike and walking down the road I have been swerved at, shit thrown at me, and I wouldn't doubt I would eventually get jumped or run over. I thought Hawaiians disdain for haole was pretty well known, maybe not. On the other hand I have made great friends with some over the years, who are just genuine good people.

Subscribed to the thread and I would be very interested in this too. No SEA experience, but the PAC islands would most resemble the Garden Isle; Tahiti, Somoa. A friend just posted a pic today from Sempu Island in Indo that looked pretty nice, definitely dryer. Bali?

I think the whole anti-white Hawaii thing you read on the internet is overblown. I've lived on Oahu for 15 years, and never had an issue with any racism of any kind, actually quite the opposite, most of the local people are some of the coolest most friendly people I've met in my life. Thats not saying that it does not exist, but on a much smaller scale just like anywhere else. However, there is defintely an air of prejudice against military folk around the islands, that i know for sure, but again not to degree that they make it to be on the internet. It basically boils down to this, go there with respect and you will receive respect. You act like an idiot, and trouble may present itself.

As far as hooking up with the local hawaiian mixed girls, I would agree its not so easy, best bet to stick with Jap tourist, local asian and haole chics.

I was born/raised in Hawaii and I get the look and feel you're going for. I thought I would point out though that Hawaii isn't really paradise these days -- meaning in case anyone was wondering, it's not even in the running for consideration. It's not like Hawaii is a pretty good place but maybe you could do better in Asia; Hawaii is a terrible place for just about anyone who frequents this forum on just about all counts and it's unique physical beauty doesn't come even the slightest bit close to making up for this. And a lot of it is straight up physically ugly to boot. Once you get beyond the shithole sprawling urban/suburban areas that dominate much of the landscape, you can find some nice physical beauty but it's fraught with perils and drawbacks. Kauai, as mentioned, will have the best scenery with the least shithole-ness ratio. But it's tiny and has a lot of the other drawbacks that go with this place.

There's relatively few places to actually go into the ocean that are actually pleasant to swim / surf at. And when you do there's a variety of ways you could die or get injured fairly easily if you don't know what you're doing. The nice spots are overrun with obnoxious locals or obnoxious tourists. You rarely see anyone that you would want to see. Picturing long, remote coast lines full of crystal clear aqua lagoons with deserted crispy white sandy beaches? You will never find this anywhere in Hawaii. You'll drive for miles in traffic to find the one white sand beach that's packed with fat tourists and angry locals. It's like the Disneyland of the Pacific.

The hostility toward foreigners and particularly white males (haoles) is a real thing. Being respectful goes a long way, but some locals have a bone to pick no matter what you do. Especially when it comes to the few nice spots to get into the water. More and more of them are ice heads. If you're alone, you or your stuff might get ganked.

What was once the most biologically diverse and pristine ecological areas on the planet has been trashed biologically by all manner of extinctions and invasive species. Mosquitoes, centipedes, rats, spiders, fire ants, coqui frogs, rat lungworm, leptospirosis, vog (volcanic air pollution) etc make the pretty landscape a lot less fun to actually spend time in. Not to mention all kinds of crazy volcanic steam vents/lava tubes to slip into, super steep valleys to fall in, and the potential to get very, very lost in the jungle (while under siege from the afore mentioned pests).

And of course I need not mention that on average Hawaii is a sausage fest with a plethora of ultra alpha males and masculine-leaning nothing-too-special women. Actual Hawaiian women (not filipina/samoan/tongan/japanese girls that act like they're Hawaiian) are kind of special but good luck A) even finding them B) getting the time of day unless you were friends with their friends in high school or grew up with their family. Or you're Hawaiian.

It's one of the most expensive states in the Union. It borrows car culture straight from L.A.: you'll be driving everywhere you go and there's few decent alternatives on shitty roads with terrible traffic for no good reason (well I guess because everyone drives, everywhere). You can walk or ride a bike, but you'll be doing it while dodging cars on 2 lane roads with lots of blind turns and little to no shoulder.

If you're polynesian (if you haven't figured it out yet I'm not) and have your shit together it might be a kind of paradise. They can do pretty well here.

Otherwise, if there's somewhere out there that looks like Hawaii and doesn't suck like Hawaii, I'd like to know too. My guess is it doesn't exist and probably most tropical Asian destinations with even remotely similar landscapes would run circles around Hawaii in every other aspect.

Possible exception: you want to buy relatively cheap U.S. real estate in a place with year round sunshine and be a hippy in small towns and not really run game. On the East side of the Big Island, you can buy land pretty cheap and live off the land and be self sufficient or whatever. That's kind of cool.

What's hard to find is climate / weather like Hawaii. Not too hot, ocean breezes.

In SE Asia you have to gain altitude to get similarly moderate temperatures. So places like Cameron Highlands and Kinabalu in Malaysia, Baguio in the Philippines.

Or is there another place with a prevailing breeze off of the ocean? Even downtown Manila is OK when the wind's coming in off of Manila Bay.

You're right about that and I forget about the weather. Not everywhere is so great -- it's highly variable depending on what side of the island and what elevation you're at, but there are sweet spots that have basically the closest thing to the perfect climate for the human species I've ever experienced.

Damn that was a dose of negativity bro. lol I feel some of your points but the glass can't quite be that empty, can it?

Anyways, that small towns on the big island is where most people where I'm from end up when they get a place in Hawaii. A lot of Humboldt people on the big island.

I was talking about Hawaii but easy on the dumping words in my mouth, Bud (especially if you're going to use quotes).

The closest thing I said to that was:

The gist of it is the same but you blew up what I said a little bit.

From what I can see, the tension is high enough that I wouldn't want to live there as a whitey, but it's not a war zone or anything.

Sorry for large pic, no idea how to scale.

Just wanted to add in Cape Town. This city has really beautiful nature.

Don´t think many RVF will go there as the girls are nothing spectacular.

That's what I'm talking about! Nice. Not as tropical (not that I'd be complaining) but those bluffs are awesome.

Probably quite a few sharks in that water though, eh?

I''m checking work emails on a white sand beach right now, by the way. This is the fucking life.

Just asked how much if I pay a month for a guesthouse right here on the beach.

$450.

Lots of sharks, yes! But if there is something to worry about, that would be crime.

South Africa had some of the most appealing nature I´ve seen from my travels.
If you like wine, visit the area Stellenbosch

If the girls were hotter, and not so much crime, I would be back in an instant.
Walking around Cape Town never gave me the same relaxed feeling as walking around in a big city in Asia.

I can't be certain but that looks like the vineyard/bed and breakfast I stayed in whilst visiting Stellenbosch. Great wine and definitely worth the drive come Capetown for a night. Also, if you're there, make sure you visit the southern tip of Africa, the real Cape.

Nothing like Hawaii, of course, but a nice place to visit, eat and drink. When I went there, i think things cost 25 percent of what they do now, though.

I've referral links for most credit cards, PM me for them & thanks if you use them

To expand on this, that's the most popular beach in town too. If you don't mind a little peace and quiet, which I could use at the moment, I imagine the price will go down a bit.
