Bali? yah or nah?

I saw some good prices for a flight from Brisbane to Bali for $230 next month. I did a quick search but I didn't see anything recent on Bali. I just want to go relax, and maybe get drunk, see some sights and what not.

Id rather not interact with backpacker if I can help it. I heard Kuta is a dive, but how about the rest of the island?

Advice?

I personally thought Bali sucked, but I only went to Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud.. the 3 biggest tourists traps. I'm sure it's a great place if you avoid the 3 I mentioned. In Kuta at Sky Garden I got my Indonesian flag- a girl from Jakarta, who was one of the hottest girls I've ever banged. In Bali (mostly at clubs in Seminyak), I met quite a few girls from Jakarta who were there for work of vacation. You should go to Bali and see for yourself if you like it or not. I think it's a very hit or miss place.

I took the flight from Australia to Bali a few times. This feeling when you are finally able to leave your workplace in Australia and move back to Asia must be similar as when a prisoner is set free.

It is nice to eat all the cheap food again, and Kuta offers a lot of them. Also the value for accomodation is great. Only downside is that it is full of drunken aussies, other backpackers and annoying locals. But it is alright to get drunk and laid and just enjoy your first day in freedom. If you dont have enough of Bali by then, you can explore the other corners of that island. I am sure the island has much more to offer. If you want to make sure to avoid the mass tourism then just take the bus and the ferry to Java. Surabaya is good first stop with lots of hot women and surrounded by awesome nature including a popular vulcano. Yokyjakarta and Bandung are also on the way to Jakarta and have a good reputation. Jakarta is a serious choice to live in Asia so you should check it out anyway, otherwise you will get cheap flights from there to BKK.

Not enough of this beautiful country? Then explore Sumatra and expect some rough traveling. Your white men status will skyrocket. From there you could take the ferry to Singapore, get another flag, and take a cheap flight back to Bangkok. Or even go all the way overland. Malaysia is probably not the best bet to get laid, but has a beautiful landscape and on of the friendliest locals in SEA.

Actually you can go the whole way from Bali, once you have left Kuta to the boarder of Thailand, without seeing more than a few backpackers every day.

Check out my mini-datasheet on Bali.

In short, unless you really want to surf, don't bother.

Kuta can be wacked but honestly the parties are pretty legit and there's tons of chicks from all over though yeah too many Aussies especially when its a Aussie holidays. There's that one club, Sky Garden, that is like four stories and its pretty impressive. Don't want to say Kuta is Vegas cause it ain't but it has that feel to it. The beach in Kuta actually isn't super, and at least from what I saw none of the beaches in Bali are that great by Indonesian standards.

I went to the center of Bali to Ubud. It's okay but mega touristy too. Really honestly, if you want to see the real Indonesia take your cheap flight to Bali and then get a cheap Indonesian domestic flight on Lion Air, etc to somewhere like Sumatra. To just get wasted and party though Bali can be pretty top notch if you go to the right place and it's not a Aussie holiday. Nearby Gili is legit too and its better IMHO for swimming in the Ocean.

^ Yeah, i've always wondered what the Gili, Amed, Lombok scenes were like.. i heard it's more relaxing, but i assume that equates to less sluts to bang. Ideally you'd pull a girl from Kuta and drag her all the way to Amed for then next few days.

I'd have to agree that Bali isn't the type of place to game chicks.. although i got tons of attention, all the real hotties are those that work there / for the tourist industry so a bit out of reach. theres no reason not to get the # of your waitress, masseuse, motorbike dealer (!) for a private date though - and Kuta is absolutely wild, but again the girls are so stimulated already that they dont feel the need to bang.

I would say yeah.

You dont need to avoid Kuta just limit your time there.

Udud is beautiful. There are some amazing black volcanic sand beaches in the north that no tourists ever seem to go to.

Base yourself in Ubud, rent a motor scooter and explore the island. Be careful though Indonesian truck drivers are dangerous drivers.

Take care not to create a false sense of security around other vehicles, as they are all piloted by unaccredited idiots. They either don't have licenses (most bus drivers) or simply bought them. Or they are ten years old.
I would say stick to the slow "lane," but people making left turns (= right in the US) tend not to check for oncoming traffic.
OT rant that could save a life.

Its always filled with Aussies, the food always sucks and the only real decent attraction is the surf.

I would definitely recommend Thailand over Bali.

Yes there are. I met 2 Taiwanese tourists on the beach. My friend met a Japanese tourist at the mall. Lots of Indonesian tourists too. Indo girls love Bali. Plenty of other Asian tourists, but way more white tourists than Asians

And why would you want to meet Singaporean girls anywhere? yuck

Bali? yah or nah?

I spent 3 nights in Kuta and 3 nights in Ubud.

Bali is worth visiting. Is it worth visiting for the girls? Maybe, but I didn't know enough to go to the right places when I visited. I did get laid, but it wasn't my best lay in Indonesia.

Kuta is a fucking dump. Sky Garden, the most popular club there, is shit.
Hard Rock Cafe is full of Asian tourists, but it was half empty when I went.

I heard a lot of good things about Seminyak and club Mint which is located there, but went there on the wrong night mid week, so it was closed.

Ubud is fantastic, definitely worth visiting. It's not about looking for girls, although there are girls out there - both Indo and foreign. I haven't seen anything like Ubud anywhere else in the world. It just puts your mind at ease, makes your forget about all the shit. I highly recommend the downhill cycling tour to see Balinese villages and rice fields.

For girls, I recommend Jakarta. A lot of educated, upper class girls who are promiscuous, love foreigners and speak good English. The night life there is just fucking insane.

I live in Sydney but don't have much interest in visiting Bali even if it's close. Drunken Aussies and beaches, I can get that 15 mins from where I live.

Haha, I also picked up one of the hottest ladies in my life from Sky Garden. She was a model and actress in Indonesia.

I have to say I was amazingly popular over there. I just went to the hottest girls in the place and after 5 minutes of talking they started making out. Even the professional dancers were easy.

I only fucked 3 girls on the 7 days I was there but I'm pretty sure that if I had a double room for myself I would've fucked every night.

Bali? yah or nah?

I would say Nah and consider another destination.I agree with Vicious for the exact reasons more or less.

My experience there involved drunkin tourist that I wasn't attracted without being drunk myself. Not to mention the annoying teacher during the day/hooker at night type of girls that kept trying to make out on the dance floor with every other guy that wasn't Indonesian.

Not worth it unless I brought a female I wanted to impress from over here in N America. Chicks here loved going though my Bali vacation picts. My guess it's due to the beaches and they have all been to the Caribean and Mexico at some time.

Btw, my wingman was a tall Brazilian brother that could pass for Anderson Silva in a heartbeat, except that he has more of that bodybuilder physique. You would think that I was travelling with Michael Jordan from all the attention he got - Non stop attention and picts requested from the locals including kids, store owners and even club owners. However, he even wasn't feeling the island.

We both connected with some German chicks, as well as possibly some semi pros that we felt should have paid us.

Anyways, that's just my opinion coming from over here in Canada.
