Tomato juice

Just started drinking tomato juice daily as I read that it's good for your skin and hair.

I can read all the internet articles I want about the subject but I'm more satisfied with "real life" stories and opinions.

Who's been drinking this on a regular basis? What benefits have you noticed?

Not tomato juice, but a relative, persimmon juice, is great. As well as persimmon leaf tea.

Also, Beet juice, is just insane! Awesome for blood flow, healthy blood pressure and clear skin. Really noticeable results after a week of two glasses per day morning and night.

supposedly the lycopene in tomatos are great. I did tomato juice for a whole month. didn't notice anything (bought the mini cans of concentrated tomato sauce from Hunts at the supermarket and shot a can a day.)

the best thing for my skin was to quit alcohol and apply aloe vera straight from the plant. everyone was like "wow you have a glow" but tomatos...nothing

I like to eat a full raw red tomato each day. Delicious and very healthy. When you say tomato juice, are you talking about raw tomato juice that you squeeze yourself or juice that you buy in bottles? I'd personally go for the one you squeeze yourself.

I've been buying tomato juice from the bottle, but I think I'm going to start blending my own. I already do green smoothies so may as well start doing it like this too.

Problem is, the acidity isn't too great for my stomach when I eat tomatoes and the juice from the bottles hasn't been problematic so far. Not sure how it'll be when I blend them.

Dupe thread kind of: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-13375....t=lycopene

Lycopene, the substance to which tomato's benefits are attributed, are more bioavailable in cooked tomatoes. I try to eat tomato sauce, paste or dried tomatoes daily to get a dose. Raw tomatoes have supposedly much less lycopene available.

Ah nice one. Didn't see that.

The easiest way to get lycopene's benefits is simply to eat some sun dried tomatoes with olive oil every day.

I have white skin and need to smother sunscreen or my life is wrecked.

When I drink tomato juice (and watermelon juice), I don't get sunburned.

Yeah, it was a thread on the forum on tomato juice that got me looking into it.

I do tomato paste, too, and am pretty sure there's a juice recipe incorporating it.

I'm googling red palm oil now.

Red Palm Oil is a MCT just like coconut oil. So it comes all fuked up looking and solid when virgin and unrefined. It has potent amounts of beta-carotene in it and is one of the reasons why West African people whom use it exclusively as a cooking oil normally have great eye sight. My grandma is near 90 and has never needed glasses.

It gets a while to get used to because it does have a taste to it from the richness of the beta carotene. I recommend using it in stews, curries, and heavy sauces; it also goes good to fry your eggs in a the taste of the oil complements well with the eggs.

Back to the main topic of tomatoes. Raw tomatoes have too much water and fibre which slow down the bodies ability to absorb the lycopene. It's best to consume concentrated (cooked, paste, sun-dried) and paired with fat. Tomato juice gives you a concentrated hit and just making sure you have healthy fats in a meal with it is sufficient. Eating a raw tomato a day isn't a bad habit though so no reason to stop, but the quality of your tomatoes are better from paste and other concentrated tomato items.

For skin it does what it claims: You just have to be consistent since new skin takes around 6 weeks to show. But you will notice your skin gets a "tint" from the small blood vessels being more dilated and re-enforced. You will then notice your skin becomes more supple and elastic, It isn't drastic but you notice it for sure. When the summer hits your skin takes in sun better, hold it's color, and you will burn less. For me with dark skin I will hold the sun better and longer in my skin versus not being on a heavy tomato diet. Unless your a Viking, Irishmen, or Nordic being a white brother with pale ghost skin isn't the norm IMO. You look around Europe and for the most part depending on the parallels and diet of the people if they are healthy they always have that "tint".

My sheet outlines the other benefits but for skin it's easily the best natural way to strengthen your skin cells. Lycopene is one of natures strongest anti-oxidants and it's also paired with another strong anti-oxidant in vitamin C which is also abundant in concentrated tomatoes.

Now is a good time to start a tomato regimen as 8-10 weeks will give you strong skin for when summer and the sun starts to peak.

Tomato juice is easy to make with just paste or concreted strained tomatoes, and adding water and some spice. Make a large mason jar daily of it and drink it down.

I've been eating it straight out if the jar with a spoon. I also put it in my white rice when it's done cooking, it is really tasty.

Good stuff.

where do you get beet juice

buy the beets raw and juice them yourself.

I buy organic from Jeju Island in Korea (the cleanest environment in this area) and have them shipped to me 15kg a week.

A good juicer will set you back around $200 and then about 20minutes of your time to juice them all. I try to mass juice them all at once then refrigerate them.

Side effect is red urine and sometimes red stools... but it is only an aesthetic issue, no harmful side effects.

infact the UK olympic team is famed for using beet juice as a 'legal' performance enhancer for their athletes.. which tallied the highest medal score in living memory in 2012

I think I eat tomatoes nearly everyday. Not sure if that's the same as drinking the juice or not though.

As for the acidity Matt, I get that also. If it's heartburn you're getting, the magic of baking soda sorts that out.

Tomato juice

Just made my first tomato juice thanks to your thread Kosko. I've updated the rep point I've already given you. Thanks for the info.

Being in Spain, I couldn't find what I thought was tomato paste but found the most crushed form of tomatos in a tin. I google translated "paste" but it turned out to be a load of shit so I guessed by the pictures. Upon opening the tin, it wasn't paste, per se, but it'll still do the job I'm sure.

3/4 of a 400g tin
Water
Tablespoon of lemon juice (straight from the lemon)
Tablespoon of salt

Tasted really fucking refreshing. I didn't like the taste of the tomato juice from the bottle that I've previously bought, but this was a hell of a lot better. I want some more!

No Teedub, it's not heartburn.

I also have really white skin, but about 2 months ago I started running shirtless around noon, 3 times a week. I started doing just 10 minutes, then 2 days later, I'd increase it by 5 minutes, etc. I'm now up to about a 90 minute run, 3x a week.

So this past weekend, I went to the beach and didn't have to slather myself with sunscreen (nor did I get sunburned).

I also juice and take rather good care of my health, but I was excited that for once I didn't get pink skin (or burned) from going to the beach.

In regards to acid and possible heart burn from tomatoes. It's likely what you eat them with....

Pasta with cheese and tomato sauce...

Tomato Chili with a pound of meat....

Tomatoes are very acidic yes, but they slightly turn alkaline in the body. Nature knows what it's doing. Just like with lemons which are even more acidic when consumed they are one of the more alkaline foods.

Acid is developed more by the starches, dairy and meats that are paired with these foods as the body creates it's to help to break those foods down. I've drank liters of tomato juice and have never bad heartburn but if I drink a glass of milk (when I used to), or maybe eat a big bowl of pasta then things can get dicey.

It may be true that there is more bioavailable lycopene after cooking tomatoes.

But if you are blending or juicing fresh tomatoes, that is undoubtedly a very healthy drink. Dont let the best be the enemy of the good. Chug some tomatoes and move on, its better than Tropicana thats for sure
