Roosh and Tuth pulled a prank that got out of hand. It was ill advised and they probably regret it now.

Regardless, there is enormous value in this forum. There is no other place like it on the whole web in many many ways -- and I've looked hard.

The emotions guys are feeling are justified. But please don't make any hasty decisions. There are guys that are uniquely important to the forum. I urge you and ask you personally to stay calm and don't do anything rash. I think I speak for many when I say that you are needed here.

I agree with all sides here. I think this was a badly played prank.

Should have waited until April fools or at least given the senior members a heads up.

That said, I do think this forum is a huge resource and do not want to see the heavy hitters go.

Unfortunately the fallout from the hoax is going to be a bigger news story with Jezzy, puahate and their ilk than the stories from the prank itself.

Co-signed.

For awhile, thedude3737 and MikeCF's "All Posts" pages have been, in effect, a couple of my favorite blogs on the internet. I'll log on sometimes just to see what they posted recently.

Losing dudes who dropped knowledge like they did would be 10x more disappointing than anything else that went down today.

Who gives a shit about these losers? They can write whatever they want.

I care about the guys here -- guys like Mike and thedude and others. These posters are precious to me and to others here and it would be a ridiculous waste to lose them over a prank.

I know that these are proud men and they should be. I hope they are also wise enough to weigh the long term value of this forum against what they're feeling now and realize which is more important.

While I agree with you, also consider that between the Vincent Vinturi thing a couple of weeks ago and this prank, the level of drama on the forum lately is probably much higher than some people are comfortable with. It just seems like bad timing and I can see how it would get annoying.

Even senior guys should recognise that at least initially they have taken out a lot more value from the forum than they possibly could have put in. Thedude started lifting and boxing as a result of it, AB said himself that he may not have hooked up with his current girlfriend if it wasn't for McQueen's advice. I was quite annoyed about this, and still don't think it was in good taste, but at the end of the day, its minor fuckup compared to the benefit people have gotten from it.

Time will shift some people's perspective.

Why are people freaking out about the prank?
So a few people got a little worked up about it big deal. I hate to say it but: your behavior makes it sound like you don't have lives outside the forum. Roosh and Tuth fooled me and I thought it was funny as hell even after I had been worried for Roosh's safety #moveon

And I hope guys notice the way Roosh has handled the fallout. I agree completely that it was a ham-handed stunt, and Roosh is taking a very public L on this one—but so far he's taking it like a man. (See here, here, here, and here.)

That may not be enough for guys who stuck out their necks for him, but it's not worth nothing either.

You clearly have never had stuff happen to your friends in real life. I found it funny too, but the reaction was kind of justified after seeing the aftermath and work put in. To a lot of us this forum is an extension of our lives. This place was god send for me because I finally found people with similar thoughts and that there are smart people out there as well as keeping my sanity. In my short time here I gained a lot more than I thought and learned more about the real world.

The idea that guys "put their necks on the line" is exaggerated.

Guys made some calls. I did too. There is some inconvenience. Life goes on.

You know who puts his neck on the line, for real?

Roosh.

What the hell happened to having a sense of humor on a Sunday evening?

Bad judgment, sure. "Irreparable damage"? Give me a break, not even close.

You're right - my situation is not the same as Roosh's. But I still think the implication (or maybe rammification is the better English word?) and moral are the same.

The implication = Serious loss of trust that may not be able to be recovered

Moral of the story = Don't do it again

Wald,

You don't lose trust in someone who has come through for you again and again and added a huge amount of value to your life because they did something stupid once.

I agree with Lizard of Oz's posts here. Sure, Roosh made a mistake, like we all do, but it was a big one because he underestimated the effect of the prank.

The forum and it's members has added to all our lives just because it let us down once doesn't mean we should turn our backs to it forever.

I understand taking a break from it, we can all probably benefit from taking some time off at one point or another anyways.
