Cuban cigars and cuban rum are natural to each other. Dont overthink it. Zacapa rum can work well too.
I dont care for scotch and cigars, give me nasty hangovers and a lingering aftertaste that I dont enjoy...
Port and cigars, OTOH can be quite a treat. 1977 Warres and a nice Montecristo are a treat. They do play off each other nicely.
Tequila and cigars are just a bad idea for me. Gives me all kinds of ideas.

One thing I learned from bitter experience--never pair Cigars and Bailey's Irish cream. Bad combo.
Favorite combo Romeo Y Julieta Vintage #5 and Hennessy XO. For about an hour or so you drift into a very relaxed state, where life slows down and seems less chaotic. Great experience.

Gag. Bailey's is a dessert/cocktail mixer. I'll take your word for it... lol
Another thing about that Camarena tequila, I've found it to be the best "rehab" tequila out there...getting people to actually try it who are adamant that they HATE tequila, because they've had vile hangovers from the cheap mixto shit like Jose Cuervo and Sauza.
I've heard this one every single time: "Hey...that's actually GOOD!"
Last time I had some with a cigar, I was smoking a Padron 3000. They went very well together.

Cognac is the way to go IMO, the more expensive, the better.
I used to blow serious cash on cognac but not so much these days. In my experience, it's worth spending at least $100 on a bottle, and it goes way up from there. I honestly wouldn't settle for anything less, especially to pair with a cigar. I've simply never experienced the nuance and smoothness in cognacs under $100 that you get with the cognacs that are $100 and over.
Look for Raugnaud Sabourin, Guillon Painturaud and Tesseron.
There's nothing wrong with Remy, Hennesy, Martel, and Courvoisier, but it's good to expand your horizons to lesser-known producers.

If you don't like scotch, I doubt you'd enjoy a cigar with cognac (btw: the world of scotch is pretty diverse. I'm confident that if you tried something light like Glenmorangie and worked your way up to an Islay, like Laphroiag, you'd find something that you'd like).
Instead of a liquor to pair your cigar, you might want to look into different beers. A heavy stout for your Cuban or Nicaraguan; or lager with a Dominican.

Dude, I only roll with either a cigar or Black & Mild wine flavored. I'll drink Vodka (preferably Absolut) along since I like Vodka. Wherever I go, people get impressed that I smoke Cigars or Black & Mild. Best thing to show style with, without spending a shitload of money. Another thing of style is your lighter. A good Zippo Lighter will do in this regard.

For me its Camacho (yellow wrapper) with Hennesy VS or VSOP. I smoke @ cigar shops, so the booze goes quickly. Its not a spot you bring your $100+ bottle as its gonna dissapear in 15 mins.

I like counterbalancing the heat and texture of the cigar smoke with a smooth liqueur like Drambuie, Benedictine, or Grand Manier Blue Label.

I know you said liquor pairings but I'd throw out there that some good coffee or espresso and cigars are a great combo. As I type this I'm wondering how Kahlua would go with a cigar...
