Your Personal Xanadu

What is your ideal city and what place on Earth that you've been to has come closest to it?

My ideal city would have:

--- Southern Thailand's warm, sunny weather (during the dry season)
--- Great infrastructure, public transport and internet
--- Minimal taxation/bureaucracy
--- A high volume of thin, feminine women
--- Decent beaches close by
--- Delicious food
--- Good BJJ/MMA schools
--- Friendly locals
--- Relatively safe
--- A 'Western' standard of living

So far, my makeshift solution to 'the perfect city problem' has been living in Bangkok (which ticks most of the boxes, especially the volume of attractive girls box) and traveling every few months to the Southern islands or Northern mountains for a recharge on nature and relaxation.

I've never been to Rio De Janeiro but I feel like it might fit the bill as well.

Great idea for a thread, VV. I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the other guys here have to add.

Rio certainly has its redeeming qualities (disclosure, I am planning to move to Brazil in the next year or so) but it's also lacking in a lot of aspects that you described as well. I think that Brazilian women, for what I like, are pretty cool, and in that regard it's the tops for places I've been. But Rio's cost of living for what it offers and development is far from top notch.

The climate is certainly nice.

Taxes could well be problematic and I'm leaning toward keeping my business activities offshore until I get a better handle on that.

Beaches are outstanding, though many Brazilians tell me I need to see the northeastern beaches, which are supposedly better.

Regarding food, I think that a lot of good food is available there, but that as an American, I'm spoiled. I think that Sao Paulo would be better for me in this regard, from what I know. There would still be a lot of things I would like to have but are hard to get because of trade policies, etc.

Locals are definitely friendly, and as a general rule, like Americans.

Safety is definitely a concern, though having been there did alleviate some of my most acute concerns about safety there.

Travel infrastructure in Brazil is very poor by western standards. Traffic jams during holidays turn 2 hour trips into 6-8 hour trips routinely, for example.

I think it would be pretty hard to find places that would have both the quality of women that I require and the ease of doing business. I did find Sao Paulo to be easier in terms of getting things done, and to be more business-like, which I liked compared to Rio's very "land of tomorrow" vibe. So, I guess my Xanadu would be some combination of Rio and Sao Paulo with some downtime in other locales. And I found the quality of women, for my tastes, to be very similar between Rio and Sampa, even though the women are quite different.

I'm also quite fond of Costa Rica, though I am somewhat of a city person, and San Jose is too far from the beach and the beach cities are too small for my tastes. The women, if you know where to look, are quite stunning, and the vibe of Costa Rica is very cool.

I also believe that Bangkok is a good fit for me. With occasional trips to the Southern beaches. [Image: thumb.gif]

I love lounging on a beautiful beach. I can lie in the water like a star fish for hours. But most of the time I do prefer city life. I'm a simple man who likes feminine Asian women and likes to go out and drink a lot. I also love tropical weather, partly due to growing up in Grey ol' Britain.

It's awesome to have different options in one country. I think it's impossible for me to be unhappy in Thailand.

Ideally though, my perfect city would have:

- Southern Thailand's warm, sunny weather (ditto for that one)
- Summer all year round
- Taipei's super-efficient and cheap MRT system
- Raleigh beach (Krabi) accessible by MRT (and a <10 minute walk from the MRT station)
- Indian food (Thai, Mexican and Vietnamese could be made available too)
- Street food stalls found very frequently (Like in Bangkok)
- Every woman is Mongolian, with a Thai personality and a Korean accent (and they wear bikinis, 100% of the time)
- Every person has the friendliness and warmth of Taiwanese people
- The streets have the safety of Korea/Taiwan
- English hooligan-style aggression is punishable by excommunication
(- Short hair on women is also punishable by excommunication :-P)
- The live music scene is as awesome as London's
- The park atmosphere is the same as London's (in the summer time)
- The party atmosphere is the same as Patong's. Every day is full-pelt (but minus all the seediness)
- The street atmosphere is the same as it is currently in Bangkok (hopefully it doesn't get violent, it's a festival atmosphere currently)
- Outdoor music festivals are held every weekend
- Beer Lao is the city beer
- For some reason, the city's flag is the same as Albania's (Cool as fuck IMO. Though Thailand's flag is more 'beautiful')
- Tropical vegetation is found everywhere. (I love tropical trees and greenery, can happily stare at it in the park for an hour or so. Did that today :-P)
- The street art resembles the best of Berlin's
- Weed, LSD and mushrooms are legal
- Everyone drives an old-timey car like they do in Havana, Cuba
- The sun stays out as late as it does on a Scottish summer day
- Universal healthcare (with Korean efficiency)
- British police are in operation (Arguably the nicest in the world)
- Everyone lives in houses like the ones in Southern Portugal (white villas with orange roofs)
- People also have that laid-back attitude like that in the Mediterranean
(- I am the mayor)

Thailand has a good chunk of those sorted or somewhat sorted, in my opinion. It ticks all my major boxes (women, weather and lack of aggressive people). Will be hard to move on from this place.

Barcelona is a good one for Europe

I find that being near the beach makes me a lot happier.
Bangkok is an amazing city, if it was on the beach it would be perfect.

I love Thailand but i'm surprised people choose Bangkok over the southern islands for living. Bangkok is a dump IMO, polluted, crazy traffic, dirty etc

There's not much to do in the southern islands on a day to day basis, I need the infrastructure, possibilities and sheer amount of people a big city provides.

^^^Or, short of that, give a thumbnail sketch of the difference between Hungarian and Czech girls that makes you say:

Bangkok has the southern islands beat on a few important fronts:

--- cost of living. Bangkok is way cheaper than basically anywhere south of and including Phuket.

--- logistics. I met a big breasted girl vacationing from Beijing on a Phuket beach. She was DTF if ever a girl was. Too bad we were like an hour motorbike ride away from each other.

No excuses; not saying I couldn't have made it happen but you're unlikely to fumble a lay in Bangkok on account of logistics. You have BTS, MRT, dirt cheap taxis, motorbikes, vans, buses, even freaking boats! And it isn't so spread out that you can't almost always get to a place of fornication before the moment fizzles out.

--- Talent. The sheer volume of young, hot, approachable girls in Bangkok is unmatched anywhere else that I've been in Thailand. And perhaps anywhere that I've been EVER, including Medellín, L.A., S.F., and Miami Beach (where the girls are pretty unapproachable anyway).

In the Southern Islands and in Phuket you can still score of course but they don't fall from the sky like they do in BKK.

Same here. There's only so long you can laze around on a beach smoking weak joints.

That's interesting. I'm curious what my reaction would be. I've never really thought I had a thing for Asian women, but I fell in love 100 times a day in Japan. I've been some places with some pretty amazing women, including all of those American cities (never been to Medellin). Now I've gotta go to Bangkok just to compare [Image: angel.gif]

Vacancier Permanent: I couldn't really trump the datasheets on the forum, they are quite thorough. I can give you a quick rundown why I like the place so much.

-The city is the perfect size. About 2 million people and kind of spread out. Prague and Vienna have a similar population but they feel a lot smaller.
-Stunning natural setting on the Danube, with lots of parks.
-Excellent public transportation.
-Weather. You do have four seasons but the weather is very mild for a central European city. I was just wearing a t-shirt in the first week of november.
-Low cost of living.
-Good food. The food was kind of shitty in most EE countries I went to, Budapest is a foodie city. Lots of very good restaurants.
-Excellent travel opportunities. You are literally in the center of Europe and Wizzair runs discount flights out of the city.

The women were the most disappointing thing about Budapest. I was there for a month and only saw a handful of 8s, never any knockouts. On top of that, there is a huge cultural/linguistic barrier, the biggest in the EU in my opinion. The only way I can describe hungarians is 'different', they are a very insular group trying to preserve their identity. As a result, they really don't like foreigners. The under 25s do usually speak English but they certainly don't like to. If you wanted to have any chance with the top talent in Budapest, you would need to learn Hungarian and I cant see how it would be worth it given the uselessness of the language and the hotter/easier women in nearby countries.

Capitán Peligroso: I suppose this depends on tastes but I found Czech women superior in every way. Physically, they are taller, blonder, have prettier faces and bigger tits. English levels were a lot higher and even in Prague, being American was a plus. In 2nd tier Czech, I felt like a rock star. All in all, I found Czech women friendlier and just a lot of fun to be around. A lot of this could be said about Polish women too.

I was doing a bit of research, and you can rent a decent apartment in Phuket with pool and a gym for less than $400 a month.

I would imagine restaurants are generally the same price as in Bangkok?

The Bangkok/Southern Islands thing would also depend on whether you prefer Thai girls to foreigner tourists, and whether you are paying for sex. My personal preference is Scandinavians/Russians/E Europeans.

The idea of living in Phuket, with plane loads of European hotties coming in every day, gives me a boner. The problem I can see is that Bangkok is a transit point for most tourists, they mostly do their shopping their or see some sights rather than let loose.

Hong Kong basically ticks off all of your boxes as well as mine (which have a lot of overlap), but the damn high living expenses are the only thing that slow me down from making a permanent move there.

I'd say that's accurate. You could even get an apartment about a 15-20 min motorbike ride from the beach for that price.

More or less.

TONS of Scandinavians/Norwegians, Russians, Italians, etc., down there.

Yes there are a lot of hot girls coming through but 1) logistics are going to be a guaranteed problem and 2) the influx of chicas is somewhat seasonal and 3) most of the traveling cuties are with a boyfriend.

Vacancier, I did a datasheet about Budapest a while ago.

http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-18494.html

Budapest is nice, and even though I live here, I wouldn't consider it a perfect city. People could be friendlier, and we don't get too much sunshine during the winter months, which gets depressing.

I wouldn't like the long dark gloomy winters in central Europe.

Bangkok is close to the ideal, but probably too hot, too polluted and too foreign in the long run.

Málaga, Seville, Valencia or someplace else in the south of Spain might be ideal. I speak Spanish, love the food, plenty of social and cultural opportunities, a variety of women.

This is a very valid point that I did not consider, most of the hotties from Russia/Ukraine/Eastern Europe cannot afford exotic holidays with their friends, they are either being paid for by their parents, but probably more often the sponsor.

Which leaves the Scandinavians, the hottest ones will probably only go at Christmas time, the backpacking types are mostly fat and ugly.

I don't think this is necessarily true anymore for many Russians really. There are all sorts of cheap, pre-packaged tours for them that cater to the Thai-seeking audience.

But the boyfriend things holds true....especially over New Years (Novy God). Had three sets of friends take their girlfriends there from Moscow (one girl was arrested and jailed for stealing some souvenir and they had to pay $1500 to get her out of jail). And I'll admit that it's still pretty prevalent for sponsored chicks to go all over the world with rich guys who pay their way. But you are finding more and more girls going with girlfriends or in groups for the long holidays.....they are dying to get out of Russia in Winter (as was I) and prices are cheaper now with more options.
