What is better to use in a Roth IRA, ETF or mutual fund? I believe you can get indexes in both.

Connections, pedigree, and an absolute commitment to making money and loving it. Your drive to make and save money at every corner must be your calling.

If that's not on your mind every waking moment, go do something else.

Why are you talking like you're Warren Buffett?

After reading quite a bit on this thread, forum and the topic/career of being an investor, I've stumbled upon one question that I simply cannot wrap my mind around, how did top investors and finance guru's get to where they are???

I know one obvious answer that most here will point to is by having connections, but even with that its quite amazing how some guys make their way to the top.

A combination of skill and luck, just like high achievers in every other field. The founder of my firm is a very smart guy and charismatic. He's worth a few billion. There are thousands of other investors the same age who are only worth a few million. But the founder of my firm got lucky; he chose the right PhD advisor and when this advisor's research started becoming popular among investors, the firm started getting more and more money in.

I'm part of an investment society that pays more money in fees than in losses. They turned £100 into over £1000 in one year. PM me if you want to join so I make sure the person adds you to Facebook.

Sounds great!
Fortunately it has recently been brought to my attention that a distant relative of mine passed away and left me, as his only known heir, a rather substantial amount of money from his mining activities in Central Africa.
Luckily the Prince of Nigeria has volunteered to safeguard it in his private bank for me, requesting only 50.000€ to pay for the necessary taxes. Afterwards it shall be transferred to its rightful owner and make me a rich man.
Now that´s an offer I couldn´t refuse!
However, as soon as I receive the inheritance I´ll make sure to contact you again and hear your advice on investing and wealth management.
Much appreciated.
