Western Ukraine Datasheet

I've spent a ton of time in Western Ukraine over the last year or so, and while it doesn't get much attention outside of Lviv, I think that people should start going there more often.

My ideal Ukrainian girl is one that grew-up in Western Ukraine, and moved to Kyiv. I have a thing for these village girls with the Kyiv look - it's something special.

Many men are afraid to go to Western Ukraine, but I can assure you - the level of English is above what you'd expect. In fact, I only met a handful of women that didn't speak at least a basic level of English.

For the purposes of this datasheet, I will skip Lviv.

As a note - I'll be back in Western Ukraine in January for 6-months, so I'll be updating this as I go along.

Cities talked about in this datasheet - Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Uzhhorod.

1. Ternopil (Тернопіль).

Ternopil is a 2nd-tier city in Western Ukraine, with a population of around 200,000. It's a large university city, and I should start off by saying that there is an African contingent here that comes to Ternopil to study at the medical universities. In saying that, you won't often notice them in your every day life.

How to get here:

It's easily accessible via train. Train prices vary, but you can get a one-way ticket from Kyiv for anywhere between 100-400 UAH.

To book your tickets, you can use Укрзалізниці (Ukrainian Railways http://www.uz.gov.ua/), or book your tickets in person at the Kiev-Pasazhyrskyi railway station, located at the Vokzalna (Вокзальна) metro station.

Rent:

Rent is cheaper than Ukraine. I stayed in a two-bedroom in the centre for $300 USD/month. For this, I used a realtor (you can google any in Ternopil). So, upfront I paid $650 (I negotiated the realtor down from his $150 fee).

You need to be near the centre, which is a 15-20 min walk from the main central rail station in Ternopil. The centre is large, with a lot of pubs, cafes, all within walking distance.

Things to do:

Like most Ukrainian cities, there are a plethora of cafes, pubs and bars. I won't go over this in great detail, but as long as you're in the centre you'll be fine - there aren't too many foreigners in Ternopil, so no matter where you go, you'll have a good time.

Koza - Decent bar, but better in the Summer. Live music, usually quite crowded. Cheap prices, and a lot of girls. Mostly a student population (suits me).

Bunkermuz - Good place to meet locals. Artsy bar, but has a good, non-hipster vibe.

Allure - Decent nightclub, with some face control on some nights. Good ratio of women-men, and 99% locals.

Game Spots

The centre for day + night game is superb (the area surrounding the Ternopil Academic Drama Theatre).

The amount of traffic in the centre of Ternopil is awesome, with a consistent flow of girls all day and all night long. There is also a ton of benches, outdoor stands and cafes to sit and look at girls all day long, approaching at will.

In terms of day-game, it's similar to Shevchenko park in Kyiv, but in a larger space.

Outside of that, hit up one of the universities.

Overview

Decent city. Uglier than the two below, but more students - also more foreigners (although a lot less than Kyiv). I do recommend Ternopil as a stepping stone to the other Western cities.

2. Chernivtsi (Чернівці́).

I won't cover this as extensively, as I spent less time here. It's another 2nd-tier city on the far Western reaches of Ukraine close to Moldova + Romania. For the history, it could be worth a visit on its own. Population is just over 200k as well, with a historic university in the city that is worth the visit if you're here.

You can arrive here by train - same as Ternopil although prices are a bit more expensive, typically.

In terms of rent, I did some research prior to going (although I only stayed 2-weeks), and as you'd expect rent is cheap.

The level of English is lower, so you best know some Ukraine, or Russian. Despite what you may think, people in the West can speak Russian - not all, but a lot of them.

For day/night game, anywhere near the centre/university is great. I admittedly didn't do many approaches, but the approaches that I did do had great results, as they typically don't see many Foreigners/Canadians in their city.

Prices are cheap, women are village-girls, but they are typically Slavic girls - very attractive, cute and traditional. Western girls are very sweet, as well.

3. Uzhhorod (У́жгород).

Uzhhorod is (I think), the most Western city in Ukraine. It's smaller (100k people), but I loved my time here - the centre is very nice, and is bustling with traffic all day and night.

It's also filled with bars, cafes and pubs - I didn't meet any foreigners here (aside from Hungarians) over my three weeks here. I paid a higher price for my 3-weeks, but looked online and found great places in the centre for $100-$200 USD a month.

It has plenty of history, plenty of Western-type women that can speak reasonable English (for a Western Ukrainian city, it was surprising).

For such a small city, there was a surprising amount of stuff to do and keep myself busy. In between Ukrainian lessons, my own work, day/night approaches, I never found myself bored.

There's a big river(Uzh river) in between both sides of the town - with the centre strip on the one side (you can clearly see the difference and spot it).

--------------

I know this was a quick datasheet, but as I intend on spending more time in the West, i'll update this as I go along.

Kyiv holds a special place in my heart, but I'm finding myself having a more fulfilling experience in the West of Ukraine.

The people are nice & welcoming, the women are attractive and traditional, there's plenty of history, and tons of pubs, cafes and bars that you would expect in Kyiv.

You do need to learn some Ukrainian/Russian, but the girls in the West are mostly untapped. While everyone else is going to Kyiv, I'll be drafting some unknown talent in the West of Ukraine, before they ever get to Kyiv.

If you have any questions, just ask away. I'm glad to answer anything regarding Western Ukraine.

Chernovtsy is not a bad city, good nightclubs like Egoist Palace, which is one of the most salubrious clubs in all of Ukraine. Chernovtsy is dull as dishwater in the daytime though, although the city is close to the Carpathians which is nice in the summer.

Chernovtsy is also an affluent city, you will notice higher prices there than other Western Ukrainian cities, this is due to there being a big market there, and being so close to Romania there is a lot of border trade and dodgy stuff going on.

I found the girls to be rather cagey in Chernovtsy and had little success, I think that the closer you get to the Balkans the harder it becomes

I think it would be very boring to live there for me personally

Uzhhorod - Not a bad little town, cheaper than Chernovtsy, some nice little cafes and bars. I found the nightlife to be very poor though, probably the worst I have experienced in all of Ukraine.

I do agree with the fact that W Ukraine is somewhat overlooked, then again I would not recommend that side of the country to those looking for fast results, for that Kiev is better. The girls in W Ukraine also tend to be more conservative and religious, there are always exceptions of course.

I don't think living in/visiting these smaller cities is for everyone, personally I need some foreigners to hang out with to pass the time, and there are almost zero in these cities apart from some Turkish, Arabic and Indian students.

I think staying in a place like that to learn Ukrainian will definitely impress the locals, then again they will often ask you "Wtf are you doing living in Chernovtsy?!!"

How long were you there for?

For the few weeks I was there, I didn't find this at all. Although, I had a decent social circle that I had built on prior trips, and met people through some language clubs that I did for two weekends.

Depends on what you want. If you don't have a social circle, I agree with this 100%.

Again, I disagree with this. As above, where did you visit? It isn't Kyiv night-life, but you need to give + take. You get the more traditional girls, less foreigners, but a less superior night life.

But in Ukraine, day-game is king anyways. So this shouldn't be a massive issue.

If you're looking for quick results, I agree - Western Ukraine is not recommended. But for longer (3+ months) stays, it can be a great source of untapped pussy.

In regards to the foreigner thing, most of my foreign friends end up coming to the West, or I make periodic visits to Kyiv/the East. Additionally, I usually end up creating a good social circle through people met at language clubs, people I meet out etc..as I can decently speak the language as well.

You'd be hard pressed to find Turks/Arabs/Indians in the West, aside from a few that sell their cheap goods. On your average night out (Ternopil aside), you'll seldom see them.

All in all, it depends on what you're looking for.

I've been to Ukraine too many times, and Kyiv gets boring if you're looking for something longer, and a more traditional girl. I said in my original post that Kyiv holds a special place in my heart - but the West is worth exploring for the 'untapped' potential.

@WeekendCasanova - thanks for this introduction. I agree with Henny that it would be nice to have a few friends from the West to pass the time with, day game with, otherwise I find myself going a little bit insane. You mentioned language clubs, and possibly other stuff -- are there even enough foreigners in these places to find someone to pass the time with, do a bit of day game, etc.?

Would you say the younger generation are better at Russian than the older? I have heard that pretty much everyone "knows" Russian, but responses are more often than not in Ukrainian...

I didn't find many decent cafes/bars/restaurants in the centre, so limited to how I spent my times in the day, not bad if you have a social circle though.

As far as nightlife goes in Uzhhorod, Panorama is the main club, but you can barely call it a club, it's a cheap restaurant with a small dancefloor. Yes you can do daygame anywhere, but sometimes I want alcohol, music and flesh.

I agree that the girls are more wholesome in W Ukraine then their E Ukraine counterparts, not a bad place to look for a wife. But I can't spend much time in these cities without going bonkers, Kiev for me has more opened minded girls, classy girls, foreigners to talk tactics with, more stuff going on, flights to some interesting places etc

Каменец-Подольский is not a bad little town, enough to keep you entertained there for half a day. The castle is not particularly impressive, nevertheless not bad for Ukraine

I have been to many Western Ukrainian cities, some are very charming, mostly cheap, girls tend to be on the conservative and on the holier-than-thou side though, often trumpeting their virtues. Nevertheless I have had some solid results.

They are the kind of cities that you could live for a short while if you had a girlfriend or at the very least a fuck buddy.

As Henny mentioned it might actually me a DLV to be in these cities, as the locals will think that you are a loser to be wanting to live in such a small impoverished city, when they even dream of moving to Kiev. You would need a very solid reason like "My mother is Ukrainian, I came to trace my ancestry"..."I came to negotiate a multi million euro Beetroot deal with some Saudi clients"

The foreigners that you meet in these cities are not often the dynamic type, old chain smoking and/or alcoholics looking for the very best bang for buck with their pension money.

This couldn't be further from the truth, and shows that you haven't really spent much time in the West (not harping on you, just stating).

I've been asked what I'm doing in the West, but I simply explain a) for the history, b) I've been to Kyiv and got bored.

I also use the fact that I'm a digital nomad, and just love to travel. Girls have zero issue, as (my point this entire time), Western Ukrainian girls AREN'T like those in Kyiv - they have a different attitude.

You don't need a bullshit reason, and most girls won't care, because again - although some want to go to the big city, they don't have that attitude.

Again, this isn't true.

I've spent months in the West, been out a lot, and encountered maybe 1, or 2 older tourists - mostly Muslim who own a bar, or sell their goods on the streets.

Most tourists you do meet, are young backpackers and people teaching English.

EDIT - I've never had girls trumpet their values to me. I'd like to know which cities you've been in, because it doesn't sound like you're describing girls in 2nd-tier Western UA cities. Most I've met have been sweet and traditional - which I admire and seek. If you're looking for sloots, you'll find those fake-sloots that pretend to be holy, are actually sluts, and trumpet fake-values. But that's dependent on the venue you frequent.

Au contraire, my philandering friend, I have spend extensive time in the Western Ukraine.

Well if you tell them you got bored in Kiev, they will think you are 100% mental, a lot of people in West Ukraine will hate on Kiev of course, because it's not as charming as Western Ukrainian cities, but boring Kiev is not.

I would ditch the fact that you are a digital nomad when it comes to the women, they are looking for a strong and stable man, they don't want a flighty man who will disappear one day. Better to bend the truth in my opinion, ie I'm working with a local company. Each to their own though.

Kiev has women from every part of the country, and there are not huge differences between the women, like there are not huge differences between the women in different areas of my country.

When I was referring to pensioners, I was talking about expats not tourists. I can tell you of at least a few in Chernovtsy for example that meet that description.

Few people teach English in Western Ukraine(with the exception of Lvov), they would have to be pretty down on their luck working for the money they would pay there, or perhaps they have a bigger second income, or do it primarily to meet girls.

Lvov girls trumpet their values more than most, by the way they act you would think that they piss holy water.

For me only the major cities in Ukraine are livable, but of course not everyone is the same. You are from Canada, if you are from somewhere rural then I can understand that the smaller places are more comfortable for you
