Best place in BKK (Bangkok)

Hey guys!

I have been following the posts on this forum for some time now. This forum or rather the people on this forum have motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and travel to and bang women from as many countries as possible.

A small intro:

I am a 27 year old guy living in a God forsaken shit hole aka New Delhi. I have been travelling since the age of 5 and have been to many countries. My game is not good but I have had moderate success with foreign women.

New Delhi is a sorry excuse for a city. Its polluted, crowded and dusty. The Majority of the girls (9 out of 10) are ugly by European standards and the ones that are good looking are extremely cocky. I am one the few Indian guys to admit this because I have met girls from countries such as Iceland, Serbia and Brazil and I know what a real woman is all about. Two of my really close friends were complete converts after they visited Mexico and New Zealand (yup, NZ, I was told the Russian and Persian immigrants down there are really hot).

I am sick of living in this city and want to get out, FAST! My dream is live in South America but my budget does not allow me to do so at the moment. So, I have decided to move to Thailand for the next 3 months. In fact my plan for this year is to spend the next 3-4 months in Thailand where I will focus on creating a solid online business and then move to Iceland or Romania (depending on how much money I have) for the summer. After that I want to move to either Brazil or Argentina.

As far as Bangkok is concerned. I just love that city. The food is good, people are polite and almost everything is dirt cheap.

For a good working environment on a tight budget BKK seems like the best choice. I have been to BKK a number of times but as a tourist and have only lived in hotels in Pratunam. I don't know much about any other area in the city.

I want rent out a studio apartment

1. with a a kitchen
2. in a peaceful and quite neighborhood
3. that costs below 6,500 Baht per month
4. with a decent market nearby
5. with a good internet connection, preferably dedicated.

I have already checked out 2 sites for apart hunting
http://www.mrroomfinder.com
http://en.9artment.com

So, I know that I can find the kind of apartment that I am looking for but I need suggestions and recommendations regarding the area in the city in which I should look for an apartment.

Mystiktraveler,
Welcome to the forum.
To answer your question about very cheap apartments in BKK, specially for under 6500B/month, yes they are around, but expect nothign more than just a bed in an empty room, more than likely far away from everything and in a typical thai area. And on top of that, you'd need to commit to at least a 1 year contract to get those rates. Not exactly fun if you ask me. I mean why would someone want to come to BKK and stay in a crappy place? People come here to take full advantage of geo-arbitrage where your money goes further than in your country so you can have a better lifestyle than currently, not to regress. This would defeat the purpose of coming to BKK. But that's just my views on the matter.

I've been looking for an apartment and i've been using those sites you mention, but the ones that would be acceptable are more into the 10k in the lowest to 15-20k/month for a fully furnished nice apartment in a nice part of town and close to the BTS and or the MRT (this is vital to get around town). As to areas, I for one have been looking into Sukhumvit, as this is the best part of town to stay. Specially an excellent part of Sukhumvit to stay at is near the Thong Lor BTS station. Lots of very nice/posh apartments there but expect to pay at least 20k/month there. This is an awesome part of town to stay, great restaurants, good nightlife as this is the place where the thai elite come to chill/relax and the girls there simply spectacular. So try to stay around Sukhumvit, except in or around Soi 3/4 on Nana as that place is the ground zero for the pay for play crowd and shady at times.

But I hear that other good areas are Silom/Siam specially Siam is a good area to stay in. I'll post more about the best areas in BKK to stay in the upcoming days.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if you have been to Delhi. I could move into a 12 sq mtr studio in Paris and live on 200 Euro a month and I would not be regressing. The thing about Delhi or India in general is that you can have loads of money and live in the poshest area and drive the fanciest cars but the people around you will always be the same and those people are fake, shallow and downright boring. So, even if I move into a low end apartment in BKK my life would be much better than what it is at present. I can live comfortably in Delhi with the same amount of monery but the lifestyle will be much better in BKK.

Also, I want to move there not to game chiks but to concentrate on work. I know that Sukhumvit is the poshest area but I don't really want to live there because I won't be interested in partying for at least the first couple of months.

This apartment (http://www.mrroomfinder.com/detail.php?id=4127) for 6000 Baht a month would be perfect for me if it had a kitchen.

Man, I wouldn't recommend you to go to Romania. True, girls there are beautiful, friendly , don't seem to have much attitude. It's a safe country and not expensive. But there is definitely racism against gypsy in Romania. When I first heard the comments on gypsy from a well educated Romanian girl, I was a little shocked. It's not just one person, many Romanians I encountered during the trip or met in Canada gave me the same impression. Of course Indian are not gypsy, but you might be mistaken by locals and that 'd put you at a disadvantage.

I'm not sure how Indian would fare in Estonia, Lativa or Lithuania. Maybe you can try those countries. I myself haven't been there but after reading subutai's post about Lithuania, I'm getting interested! [Image: biggrin.gif]

I haven't seen an Indian guy yet who'd look like a typical gypsy, and there is a lot of Indians in in Bay Area. Even if he looks like one (which I doubt), he definitely doesn't dress like one, behaves like one or speaks like one.

Also racism against gypsies in Romania is not violent. Locals do dislike them, and blame them a lot, but there are no witch hunts or gypsy-beating gangs.

My mother is of Persian descent so I am not your typical Indian guy. I lived in Europe for a considerable amount of time and I was mostly mistaken for a Latino. Even the Indian tourists in Europe thought that I and from South America. Also, I don't dress like the typical IT Indian guy. But you never know, things can go either way for me in Romania. The country just sounds really exotic and I want to give it a try. Maybe stay there for a week and test the waters before actually making a commitment of 3-4 months.

As for for the Balkan countries. I do want to go there but I am worried about all the skinhead gangs especially after reading YMG's posts. I don't know Muay Thai or any other martial art. [Image: sad.gif]

Sorry man if my post offended you. Romania is a nice country. I like the mountains in Transilvania and the friendly people. On the flight from Bucharest to Maramuresh (the Northern part of Romania), I was chatting with a guy sitting beside me. After we got to the airport, he picked up his car and game me a ride to the city, also gave me a Hagi ( a great Romanian football player) DVD as a gift knowing that I'm a soccer fan. [Image: biggrin.gif]

It's safe there. I felt much safer than in Turkey or South American countries.
Most Romanian girls are brunette, which is the type I'm mostly into. Not many fatties , compared to North America. Hotel isn't very good, specially for the price you pay. I only went to two clubs during my stay, didn't see guys grinding on girls at all, lol. For the most part, guys and girls didn't seem to dance together.

LOL. Don't worry about my friend, you didn't offend me at all. Emotions don't really translate well into words.

I am also into brunettes. I just love them and that is one of the main reasons why I want to go to Romania.
