Is the value of fame game being diluted?

Two of the most famous people I've seen up close are Justin Bieber and Arnie on separate occasions at The Grove in Los Angeles.

The striking thing is that these two mega-celebrities were able to walk through the mall unmolested. I did not see crowds, I did not see paps, and I did not see women (or men for that matter) coming up asking for autographs.

Some young girls (very few though) did approach Bieber for a selfie, but for the most part the type of scuffle you might see on TMZ is utterly contrived.

Not doubting the power of fame game, but it may be a little overstated.

It's also LA. Like you said, a few did approach.

Imagine if that were any other city. The crowds would chant.

I personally did security at a bar in Hermosa Beach that Justin Bieber rolled through when I was a bouncer a couple years ago.

The bar was DEAD on a Friday and rumors started spreading quickly on social media. Girls on facebook/twitter/instagram were tweeting that Justin Bieber was at our location.

Within 30 minutes we had a line out the door and were charging cover. Girls were asking "is it true Justin Bieber is here"? We had to set up a perimeter around his table and stop people from taking pictures. Girls were trying to take selfies with Justin in the background.

I'm sure Justin could have invited any one of them for a drink and at LEAST got a blowjob in a luxury car or something. Not saying all groupies are down to fuck like that but if he spotted the right one it could be possible. At celebrity parties a lot of times they make people sign consent forms, NDAs, and not allow certain use of electronics. Do y'all really think fame game doesn't work...? Like wtf am I even reading here?

Though one funny part about that night is when I was keeping the perimeter around his table two drunk white guys are talking and the guy tells his friend "Hey man that's Justin Bieber" and his friend is like "No it's not dude that's a fucking look alike".

Hilarious.

Does fame game work. Yes, if it's perceived as real fame in a girls head.

Faux fame game is useless and will make you seem like a complete idiot. I saw some guy say he is a youtube comedian. Come on now.

A good way to start is to see if you have a blue check mark on Twitter / FB. That weeds you down to 250,000 or so people in the world. Vast majority of those are not really "famous" so true fame game works for but 0.00001 percent of the world.

You're all essentially having mental masterbation arguing about something that is so rare it's like saying does having a million bucks game being diluted.

Now optimizing your Google results is a good strategy in today's online world. Own your name.

That's TRUE fame game. He doesn't need to brag about his fame. Everyone knows it. If you need to tell someone who you are, then you're nobody.

Although I hate his music, I'm pretty sure that he slays more pussy than we'll ever slay.

An acquaintance of mine is an up-and-coming humorist in my canadian province and over the last year has acquired some definite kind of ''famous'' status (I sometimes hear random people talking about him, mentionning his name, we hear from him on local TV sometimes, one of his videos on facebook has been seen 1,5 million times etc). It's still not full fledged celebrity status yet, but solid.

Loads of cute girls message him on facebook saying that they saw his show, that he's funny and asking if they can come over to his place to have sex. LOADS.

Fame game is not being diluted. And it's getting amplified with social media.

Bumping this thread.

As an artist I'm interested in cultivating my social media presence for fun and profit.

I'm finding it quite a good fit for my introverted personality as interacting online is not as draining as in person.

I have skills and experience to do well in real life but it's there's a limit to how much time and effort I can sustainably dedicate to that and not have it impact my creative output.

Do comedians have groupies? I'm not talking about the top tier guys, obviously they have enough momentum built up to have a decent selection, but do mid/ lower mid level comedians get chicks throwing themselves at them like some mid / lower mid level rappers do? Something tells me they don't.

That's what my friends and I thought until we saw the messages. But as we think about it, now, given his status in our province of 8 million people, it's not hard to believe.

In my canadian province the guy is top-tier, not mid-tier. He was on provincial TV this week on a show. As I said, it's not rare for me to hear his name mentioned by other people (colleagues or other random people). On top of his celebrity, he's still young and he's good-looking.

''up-and-coming'' wasn't probably the right word in my first post. He's actually a successful humorist, rising very fast, but not in the top 5 of the province yet. The guy is doing stand up comedy shows every 5-7 days these days around french-canada and every show is fully booked.

The comedian Mark Normand isn't really that famous but he was opening for Amy Schumer and he claimed to be absolutely slaying it since all of her fans are young chicks. For other comics it is probably just a function of how good looking they are and the size of their fan base. If you're good looking and can make a whole room laugh you're most likely able to have your pick of the single chicks at the comedy club that night and the mid level guys probably get some action here and there off of their social media accounts.

In NYC I've hung out a bunch with a recognizable actor and in the bar all ranges of quality constantly approach and get giggly even though he is probably a skinny 6.5 on a good day. I can get girls much more easily just by being seen with him. When walking down the street in the city you can tell people recognize him but are usually polite enough to not harass.

The size of the social status halo around your head obviously depends a ton on the quality of the entertainment you're associated with. Mainstream stuff that women like is obviously going to cast the biggest net. It just takes one girl in the group to get giddy and all of them will love you because women are lemmings for the most part.

It's fairly obvious why a guy who is very good looking and has 300k followers on a Youtube channel that appeals to young women has a hundred times more potential and social status than an average looking guy who has a million 13 year old followers from one of those douchey prank channels.
