Chart: 48 country survey on casual sex and male/female ratios

The most useful chart ever.

Sociosexuality is basically a measure of how open one is to casual sex, a higher score meaning more casual sex.

Sex ratio is the ratio of men/women. A score of 100 means equal amounts of men and women. A lower score means more women than men, and a higher score means more men than women.

So bassically, Taiwan is no dice, and the baltics look real nice, and Mixx's Slovenia reccomendation looks pretty dead on.

Not surprisingly, more men seems to mean less promiscuity. Naturally, when women are scarce, men value them more as long-term partners. When there are extra women around, men play the field.

The full study includes more great info, such as rates of ''poaching'' mates, and the difference between male and female sociosexuality in these countries: http://psych.mcmaster.ca/dalywilson/comm...chmitt.pdf

Once again, I've been to quite a few countries on this study and I can't tell you how impressed I am with the accuracy and how it jives with my own opinions and impressions of these places.

I'd rank France, at least Paris, much higher on the sexuality list however.

Nerdy scientists explaining sluttiness of women? I'd approach this chart with hesitation.

Explaining the sluttiness of women AND men. The chart above combines both sexes, this partially explains why turkey and argentina are ranked relatively high.

If you skim through this beast of a white paper for more than 2 minutes, you'll find the raw data for women only. Combine that with the fact that the study spreads through multiple age group (20% are above the age of 25) and the results don't seem as insane as at first glance..

(Argentina's women sociosexuality is ranked equaled to the US's [Image: smile.gif] )

The problem with this is that whatever getting laid is like for a country as a foreigner can be completely different from what it is like as a local. Argentinians might hook up with each other, but that doesn't mean they are that keen on hooking up with foreigners.

What determines how easy or hard a country is what the local girls attitude to hooking up with foreigners.

As an example, on your chart Spain is ranked as more sexual than the Philippines. But I've been to both countries, and I know for a fact that hooking up in the Philippines is much easier than in Spain.

You're not going to get the info you need from any chart. You can't really study this scientifically. The best way to know what countries to go to is to read other people's travel experiences.

Very true.

And how your 'ethnic look' is received within that country's value hierarchy can also play a big role.
