I beg to dispute. People of Carribean descent consider themselves black. You have British born blacks who consider themselves black.
If black Africans don't consider themselves then what are they?
The question then lends to ask: What exactly is black?
Of course I am not by all means saying
Everybody is like that, but from my
personal experience I find that
Black immigrants here and overseas are very quick to correct you by saying that "I am not
Black, I am (
insert nationality here)" In Africa on more than one occasion I had dudes who were darker than me said that they were "colored" or tell me the name of their tribe instead. What you need to understand is that the whole concept of
Négritude i.e. having some sort of kinship because you share the same dark skin is non existent overseas at least from what I have seen. It kinda of makes sense because if you meet an European guy in Europe and ask him what he is, he's not going to tell you "I am White" but his nationality. The same rule applies in Africa, people don't see themselves as "
Black" but identified primarily with their tribe or ethic group.

You don't think that sometimes this is attributed to social conditioning? Years and years of brainwashing can break a people down...I mean in DR and Brasil It's kind of obvious. That's really what I'm getting at here. Even a few dark skin guys I know here in the States have this weird complex about not wanting to date other dark skinned girls and think I have it easy because I'm light skinned. Some of these cats I have never seen them with anything darker or even close to their same skin color and they wont even look at em.
This is a fair point and you might be right 99.9% of the time when you see an interracial couple. But without knowing the individuals involved you kind have to give the benefit of the doubt to the Dark skinned Brother walking hand in hand with Becky. Maybe he's fucking with Becky not because he's been brainwashed and socialized to think that "White is Right" but because she's mad cool. When I used to be younger this used to bothered me a lot, people would automatically assumed if I was dating a White chick that it was because I had some sort of inferiority complex and wanted my kids to have good hair when it was clearly not the case. Also, I am guessing because of my complexion, cute White women approach me all the fucking time, like Memphis Bleek so eloquently said it "What I look like turnin' down chocha?"
