I have read the forums for a while and actually joined last year but never posted anything. Was thinking of messing around a bit (I'm married) but then got moved to Miami (civilian) and decided to forget about that...until recently.
BY the way, I have played around very sporadically through out the years...more like one every three years when it basically falls on my lap and cant say no.
Ok, so there is this navy girl (19) working in my section, she is maybe a 7 but I could be biased because she is filipina and I always like Asians so who knows. Well, she talks a lot, kind of goofy, video game player and for the last two weeks has been talking with me at work about anything she can think of. The first time we chatted she mentioned she had a boyfriend back home.......ever since she calls him " a friend" whenever the conversation leads that way.
My friend at work tells me this week the Asian girl its looking at me "shy smiling" whenever she walks by us. He then encourage me to ask her out blah blah. Fast forward today, walking to the car after work, she asked me what I'm doing this weekend....I tell her, she says "it's going to rain and you might have to cancel tennis.........it would be perfect for movie night". I kind of ignored it and go my way....my brain goes crazy after ten minutes "was she hinting at me?" I mean, the girl obviously likes me, her body language it's very clear and she keeps trying to validate herself every time I hit her with a neg comment
So what did I do? Got the roster, text her with "it's raining like you told me blah blah" I had her guessing a little before that line and she got my name of course. We are texting, everything cool....I call her and we start talking about stuff like we always do at work. I ask her what are her plans tomorrow after the haircut...she says she is doing all her errands tomorrow and will be done around 6pm. I said "let's hang out afterwards" and she goes into she always goes to bed early
around 8pm, then she ask me "aren't you meeting with your friends after tennis"? at that point a bailed out....say no worries is not a big deal; got to go hang up.
Obviously I never escalated...because of my position and the fear of young girl being unpredictable; I kept the conversation and even the asking her out very relax and non committed.
What are your thoughts? Should I distance myself from her at work (stop the chit chatting)?
