Hey Bolo, I'm planning to hop around a few places in Asia later this year, basically to decide where I want to set up shop for a few months. The info on Taiwan is pretty lacking. How does it compare to other countries in the region when it comes to:
Ease of hooking up
Quality of girls
Quality of life
Gringo advantage
?

Break down Taiwan while you are at it.

How do you use the quote feature on this forum?
1) Ease of hooking up
My experience might be different since I'm Asian American. From what a lot of my white friends tell me, it's easy to hook up with Taiwan girls as compared to other Asian countries. I heard one story about a white guy and girl in a club. A Taiwan girl rolled up to them, asked if they were together, found out they weren't then asked the guy to dance. She then proceeded to initiate make out on the dance floor.
I once went out on a coffee date with a Western women. She told me how Western guys aren't interested in western girls. She also told me how most Taiwan girls are willing to have sex on the first date.
As for my own experience, for whatever reason, it seems like I have to keep plowing to get laid. Tried to kiss two girls on separate occasions after the 2nd date and they turned away. I tend to need to frame sex in a positive light and keep plowing.
I did have this one...very strange experience a few years ago.
I was riding the MRT and noticed this girl checking me out. This was in my pregaming days so I had no idea what to do. We got off on the same stop and she was walking ahead of me. Then a silky, little handkerchief dropped out of her purse and fluttered to the ground.
.....this actually happens in real life? It was like something out of a cartoon. I grabbed the handkerchief and went up to give it back. Before I reached her, she turned around, took the handkerchief and sauntered off with a sway of her hips.
I just stood there wondering if that really just happened.
2) Quality of girls
The girls dress like it's a tropical climate. I previously lived in Korea and a lot of complaints were that the girls dressed too conservatively. I can't say this is the case for Taiwan. You'll see a fair amount of skin.
As for looks, I know a dating instructor who loves Taiwanese women. He's done workshops in China and said that the best looking chicks were usually from Taiwan.
Girls here do tend to have a more laid back attitude. At least compared to Korea. I don't have to deal with any "Princess Disease".
3) Quality of life
Cost of living is pretty cheap here when compared with Korea or Japan. A decent Taiwanese deal can run you about $3. Rent in a decent place can run you around $300-500. You can live pretty well...At least if your making an English teacher salary.
I recently started working for a Taiwan company and realize why things in Taiwan tend to be cheap...that's cuz Taiwan people make shit. Some people in my company make about $1000 a month. Some of my co-teachers in ESL school make $500 a month. Ouch.
4) Gringo advantage
My white friends seem to enjoy it. I knew a guy who would walk around college campuses with a Chinese-English dictionary. He would open sets and ask to be language exchange partners. After the first exchange, he would try and kiss the girl. If she kissed then it was on.
This guy was hardly a good looker. Fat and unshaven but very tall. He had tons of girlfriends. He would bang a girl. She'd leave. Then he'd call another one up. It was crazy.
5) Break down Taiwan
ehhh...that's a lot to cover. Ask me specific questions.

My bro, who should also be posting on this site, just came back from Taiwan and says it's the most absolutely overlooked place. The girls are hot (and he's not into asian chicks) love to party, want to practice english and like Bolo says are more laid back and welcoming.
He's been trying to talk me into going there ever since.

Man, Taiwan must be one of the most boring countries on Earth. I hated
the place. Brazil is much better. Most of the Taiwanese girls are looking for green cards, too. I should know. My ex-wife is from Taiwan.

Well today is my 4th day of my first trip in Taiwan. First impressions possitive. Coming from a city like Manila where the infrastucture is dirty and fucked up it was nice to be somewhere much cleaner and less chaotic.
Got my Taiwanese flag on my 3rd night (last night) with a cute, middle class local chick in her mid thirties.
Interestingly enough she says that she does not like or date local guys and only goes for white guys so it was not too difficult.
Went for a bite to eat and drink (she paid the bill before I could even notice) went for a walk and I just suggested we grab a bottle of red wine and some chocolates and share them back at ther place.
Fed her the chocolate mouth-to-mouth while we finished the red wine. Game over. SNL.
I met her at 6pm and I had a choice of two different girls lined up for my 9pm but I had to flake on them. Will re-arrange them for some other time.

Good Stuff Lumiere...did you do any internet pre-game before arriving to line up chicks?
Do you need a Visa to visit Taiwain like China?
How long are you there for?
