É, português gato! Querido, bofe, rapaz! E a lista aumenta. Não recomendo chamar ninguém de bofe. É bem gay.

I'm learning Brazilian Portuguese at the moment.
Could you guys recommend some good groups/individuals to listen to to help me getting used to listen to the words?
Thanks.

Just watched Tropa de Elite with Portuguese subtitles. Was perfect with helping to understand how the words are pronounced and the flow of conversation.
I speak Spanish so it was easy to read, but listening to Portuguese is completely different!
I think I will try to watch Cidade de Deus with Portuguese subtitles also.
Could you guys recommend some good Brazilian films to watch and a newspaper to read online?
What is the Brazilian equivalent of the Wall Street Journal / Financial Times?

If you like Cidade de Deus, definitely get a hold of Cidade dos Homens, the television series.
Seasons 1 and 2 are the best episodes. After that, the quality of episodes tails off quite a bit.

Hi guys
Just wondering anyone can recommend any good Continental Portuguese courses?
Also any grammar books as well.
learning basic to intermediate
Good in the sense that they found the course or books beneficial in actually learning Portuguese and not just reciting touristy phrases.
Obrigado!

I am thinking about doing this Portuguese immersion course during my last few months in DC before I come down to rio. It's basically class everyday for a few hours a day for several months. Also, they include living with local Portuguese speaking families. But they arent all brazilian families, some are from other portuguese speaking families. I met someone who took this course in dc, and they were fluent. So I am willing to invest the time and money. This will be my 3rd language BTW. Does anyone have any advice on how to maximize this few months before touching down in Brazil? Im looking for someone who learned from scratch to fluency, even thought this isnt the case for me.
obrigado

I just learned this: "Eu vou te deixar molhadinha"
Saying it with my strong accent seems to escalate a bar conversation and create laughter.
I'm working on my street approaches. Asking for directions works, but just saying "Oi tudo bem, como vai voce?" does not spark a conversation as I hoped it would. Any recommendations for going direct in the day time?
Would this work "Desculpa, Eu vi você andando e eu tenho que lhe dizer, você está linda" ?
What should I say to follow?
