Odessa can not have a metro because of the caverns under the city. Add the fact everyone seems to want to own a car and the streets were made for horse carriages. What you have is a city with bad traffic and the public transportation gets caught in the traffic so movement is slow. I can often walk from my flat in Arcadia same time bus would take.Add that the biggest employer is outside the city ,means most girls will not come downtown often. Every area has shopping centers and supermarkets.

Daily flights from Turkey and a ferry brings them in. All of south Ukraine has ferries from Turkey in the summer. Its a curse. Turks also have own night clubs and other businesses there, so they are a big presence.
