Does it matter if his mentality is beta, if his results is alpha?
If you go with the story that he got one-itis and was mailing her tens of thousands of gooshy emails, then yes, a non-player mentality would have been at the core of his downfall.
But once you do the math and see it would take him emailing her every 27 seconds to have sent the number reported, that story becomes less credible. And there being at least two women involved is hard evidence he was running a harem, not all moon eyed and lovesick with one-itis. And he seems to have his wife well under control; she hasn't blabbed one word to the media.
Still out and gathering data on this before can make a judgement.
There's still the question of, "What laws were actually broken?" here. Having sex is not illegal. Sending emails to a registered member of the press isn't illegal. Granting access to your biographer is not illegal, and was done above the board and in public, with emails sent between their meetings. She even has security access and has been an embedded reporter many, many times.
When investigators asked them about their intimacy, they both were forthcoming and casual about it --so unlike Martha Stewart, they didn't trip up on it being against the law to lie to a federal investigator. So the investigators were like, "Oh, they admitted it. And having sex is not illegal. Doesn't seem anything here then."
Despite the press deluge, there seems to be little actual meat at the heart of the case, and they're coming out quite clean.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."
