Any Chronic Sinusitis Sufferers?

I did allergy shots for 4 years, quit doing it about 5 years ago. If that didn't work, I'm not trying again. Appreciate the post though.

Fair enough. I've been getting shots for ~6 years. First 4 years were essentially wasted time as my allergist was a family friend and he has patients moving forward at a snail's pace so he can max insurance reimbursements. It was my university allergist that was skeptical and sat me down saying "it should only take 1-1.5 years, 2 years max, to reach maintenance (1 shot/4-6 weeks), otherwise your allergist is scamming you." Switched allergists shortly after and made that 4 years of progress in 4 months. I know getting shots is frustrating but your allergist might have had his own intentions.

I am prone to this and I have improved it by doing a lot of little things.

first, I went to an allergist and determined that i was allergic to dust mites, pollen, dogs and cats.

second, you need to vacume your house frequently to keep the dust down.

third, a lot of what you are feeling may be inflammation. i'm borderline gluten intolerant (a family member is severely intolerant). so i avoid gluten and alcohol. I also started taking curcumin (tumeric) daily. if you ever get bone pains like arthritis then you probably have inflammation.

I have had a big improvement with more dusting and limiting gluten and alcohol. Just started with the curcumin but it seems to be helping.

finally, during allergy season, take mega doses of Vitamin C.

Get Beconase nasal spray and hit cardio hard. Move to somewhere with cleaner air if possible.

I've been suffering from chronic sinusitis for the past 3 years. It is literally the bane of my existence. I get head pressure, ear popping, loss of smell, and sometimes fleeting tinnitus. Alcohol, sugary foods, pasta, and increases in atmospheric pressure exacerbate my symptoms. I've tried pretty much everything: neti pots, herbal supplements, nasal steroids, ear poppers, sinus sprays, etc.

Has anyone had endoscopic sinus surgery? And if so, were you impressed by the results?

If you haven't done washes consistently I would try that first, because those surgery have just a little over 50/50 success rate and for sure lots of pain during recovery. I do sinus washes semi daily to keep them away. Its kinda a pain in the butt to do and got a little costly. I use a machine kinda like a waterpic which is great. Fortunately I found a good supplier for the saline rinse solution because that was getting expensive.

EDIT: The machine I use is called SinuPulse, great pulsating irrigation system. The solution I use is called Simple Saline Solution by Medical ITG, super fine so doesn't burn, natural sea salt, and its really cheap.

As CJ_W said above it's most likely the environment you're living it. Mold can cause this along with countless other issues, it can literally destroy your health.

In a prior condo, I had mold that was behind the walls in the shower that literally was making me sick for months. I kept chalking it up to seasonal allergies until I had a specialist come in to check.

Hi I know this was posted a couple of years ago but in the event you are still suffering, many times stubborn cases of chronic sinusitis is fungal. I'm guessing that's the case with yours judging by your post. I'm a in facebook group called "Chronic Sinusitis Support Group" where we talk about this stuff a lot.

I've started using this suggestion and have already noticed improvements:

Up here in the mountains in the winter the snow sucks the moisture out of the air so it’s not uncommon to see 18% humidity at night.

Installed humidifiers in the bedrooms to help sleep better but the real issue for me is being at altitude day after day. It’s driving me nuts the sinusitis at the moment. Need to find time to get to the doc for antibiotics to flush it out
