Whatsup with Puerto Rico?

Does anybody have any experience with it? It seems like it really gets slept on.

I am still thinking strongly on doing the temporary living thing in Cali or Pereira...but PR popped into my head as another good option.

How would San Juan be to live for two months? Worth it?

I know the chicks aint quite as hot as Colombianas, and they are not going to give me that crazy attention just for being an American dude...but thats fine with me, if the place and the people make up for it. Chicks will still fuck if I play it tight, just like anywhere else.

Tell me whatsup. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Well, puerto ricans are US citizens, and actually are born holding US passports, so that is really something boricuas do not care about.

PR is still a very poor US territory nonetheless. Women tend to go for guys who will ensure they get out of the ghetto, but also who will put up with their bullshit and laziness.

Puerto Rico, in my experience traveling there, is not a place you'll enjoy much for gaming girls. You see, puerto rican girls typically go for bad boy thugs, and actually prefer other Latinos or black men. If you are a great Salsa dancer, they'll be all over you! It's their customary dance.

Puerto Rican girls are the most confrontational of all Latinas. They ate not afraid to get in your face and say "hey modeifoque, I'll cut you up if you touch me".

I had a puerto rican girl literally threaten to cut my face last week just for moving in for a kiss after 4 dates! What a bitch.

After you've travelled to places lime Brazil, Colombia or Honduras, Argentina there is a reason nobody talks
about Puerto Rican women - they're a waste of time. When you go to Colombia, especially Medellin, you'll see
scores of Puerto Rican men doing the same thing you are doing. Especially in June and August fot the major
festivals. Wonder why that is? Hell, even Daddy Yankee himself can't stay away from Colombia. He's there every friggin month!

I'm in Orlando now, and it has a massive population of Puerto Ricans. You'll know you're in a puerto rican neighborhood when you see all the drug dealers and ghetto graffiti of Kissimmee, fl!

Skip Puerto Rico, stick with Colombia. Trust me on this!!

HaHaHa I know exactly what you are talking about on all accounts, as far as the PR community in the U.S. goes.

But I also hear a lot of people on the Island are TOTALLY different than this. I hear its a great place, the people are nice, the girls are cool and most people disdain the "proud to be ghetto" culture of the Newyorican type Boricuas in the U.S.

I also know the most of the people who migrated to the U.S. back in the day (the people who created the Rican barrios that exist in the U.S. today) were mostly poor, lower-class and uneducated. Puerto Rican immigrants also were more likely to be Afro-Boricua than the average in PR.

This could be part of the reason why young Puerto Ricans in the U.S. identify more with Fat Joe and Tego Calderon than Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin.

Here is an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUPvGbBS30g

But you seem like a cool dude and you say that you have actually traveled there as well...so you obviously have more experience with PR than somebody who has never been there (me). I definitly give what you say some weight. Thank you, armanid27, you came though once again, now I REALLY owe you lol.

Do I have any other takers on this though?

Anybody else ever been to P.R. and have an opinion about the culture/place/nightlife/girls on the island of P.R. itself (not PR's living in the U.S.)?

All due respect to armanid27, who obviously knows what up, but I do like PR.

I have been there multiple times although mostly as a kid.

The last time I went was about a year or two ago, can't remember exactly.

I was also "working" there and I was mostly on the wessyed of the island, which is beautiful but not recommended for swooping. Too resorty.

The El San Juan hotel (I think) is super sick and Sinatra used to hang there back in the day. So you know the place has got the stamp of approval from the G's before us.

Fly girls.

I heard the old town area is to be avoided. Too many cruise ship people with visors.

I didn't go there.

All in all, I would say its worth checking. And I will check it out again.

If you want more info, I know a real cool cat http://ca2pr.com/ that has a whole blog on moving and building his dream house in PR, on the east side of the island. A veritable treasure trove of data sheets. (His wife also posts on there).

Oh yeah, and the surf is sick, if you are into that sort of thing.

Gmanifesto, hit some great points. PR is worth checking out for surf spots and even Scuba diving at isla cans de muerto.

I stayed in Conquistador hotel on Fajardo; one of the most beautiful resorts i've ever seen.

If you are thinking of San Juan, the major PR babes are at hotel San Juan, but put on the flyest suit you have. Puerto Ricans love casinos, and cruise ships. There is only one major club I remember going that had solid 9's and 10's, and it was at the 5 star hotel San Juan. The other clubs just felt like tourist traps mostly.

The most down to earth puerto rican girls I met were in Ponce. They will not bang you the first night! They are semi-conservative. Work them for a good 5 dates, and u got a shot. However, I'm spoiled! Colombian women throw themselves at me! Waiting to bang a girl by the avg 4th date is not my thing.

Hoodrats will bang you in the first few hours! But you may not want those
unfortunately.

On the positive note PR Fellas are not ruthless cockblockers like Brazilian guys. If they see you gaming, they respect and back-off.

Just be very careful driving/exploring Puerto Rico, I was mugged at gunpoint while filling my rental up with gas, and it was clear daylight!

Ok, PR is a place that is very near and dear to my heart as I have lots of family that lives there and visit there quite often. When I need a place to decompress and get away from it all, that is the #1 destination for me. There's nothing better than plopping down on the beach with a Medalla and staring out into the waves for hours on end.

I will say this about PR though, if you are going there to game chicks, you will be very disapointed. This doesn't have as much to do with logistics or the girls themselves as much as it does with the guys that live there. They ALL come off as strong good looking alpha males with swag and game and all of that. They can pull all this off with minimal dough and resources. I took some gringo friends of mines there with me not too long ago, guys that do well with the ladies here in the states, and the first thing they said to me was "Damn, all I see is a bunch of huge Alex Rodriguez looking dudes every which way I turn...". So if its competition and a challenge your after, I can't think of a better place to test your skills.

As for the women, they are definitely not impressed with the gringos and the ones that are live on the east coast in the US somewhere. As armanid27 alluded to, yes, these girls have lots of 'tude and if you get on their bad side they won't hesitate to get confrontational. They are very passionate, almost too a fault, as their behavior seems to mimic the telenovelas they watch incessantly. It's not uncommon to be in a relationship with one of these girls for a week and find yourself prefixing every sentence with "ohh Mi amor" this and "ohh Mi amor" that. They are very beautiful though, and if you manage to get through the "outer shell" she will take extremely good care of you. Just be careful though as I have yet to find or hear about a good strategy for ending a relationship with a PR girl in a civil manner.

If you are trying to run traditional game that works here in the states, San Juan is the city for you as this is probably the only place where chicks respond to that and are out in the open enough for you to find them. Isla Verde beach right next to the airport is where all the major resort casinos and tourists usually stay. There should be a good amount of targets here on the weekends or even the weekdays as PR is not a 9-5 kind of place. You might even catch some naked sunbathing going on further away from the resorts. If you are gringo, I would stick to this beach as the rest of the beaches in San Juan are mostly where the locals hang, and you will stick out like a sore thumb and might even get confronted. The only other day game spot that I can recommend where there will be enough women to make it worth your while is Plaza Las Americas. Yes, its a mall just like any other mall in the states but in San Juan it's basically like a town square. One other place that I would recommend if you're feeling adventurous is Plaza del Mercado. Great food and scenenery. When it closes for the night, an all out drum circle dance party is known to break out.

Night game in San Juan is mainly concentrated in Isla Verde/Condado and the clubs and bars in Old San Juan. The El San Juan hotel has a club inside of it that is open on the weekends and I believe on Fridays. It's a high end sort of place that will resemble fancy clubs in Miami or Vegas, but not quite that huge. If you are looking for mulitple places within walking distance then I would head to Old San Juan, but just be extremely cautious and know where you're going ahead of time as this is not a place to get lost in. Take a cab and make sure that you know how you're getting home. One of the places I like is Nuyorican Cafe, good atmosphere, nice ladies there and bad ass salsa dancers. Calle San Sebastian is where a good amount of other clubs are located. There was also another club called Lazer in Old San Juan that I was dragged to one time and when I got there I felt like it was the place where the younger people from San Juan liked to go.

http://www.clublazer.com/

If you plan on going to PR, do some research because clubs and locations change all the time. I'd imagine there are some good options further into the downtown/inner city area that I just didn't know about.

I would say that the best thing about PR to me is the nature of the whole island. They've got everything from phosphorescent bays to huge mountains to secluded beaches and everything in between. If you are going there I would focus more on checking out those things and let the ladies just magically appear while on your journey. Some notable activities are kayaking in Fajardo, a drive through the mountains in the middle of the island stopping along the way at the kiosks to have a drink and a crab empanada, you might even come across a cock fight arena where shit gets real interesting, and driving all the way to the west side. The west side of the island is very laid back with one of my favorite beaches, Crash Boat, located in Aguadilla. Lots of surfing and some expats hanging here. I would make it a point to head here as its much more inviting and you will see other gringos hanging out here.

I could write about this place all day but Ill stop here for now, if you guys have any questions let me know. I'm thinking about heading back sometime in March cause there seems to be some good deals floating around. Its turned into a very popular spring break destination because of the passport thing.

Wow JoeSea! You just made ME want to go to PR even with my own experience there!

Great stuff! We have an official PR G!

Dead on regarding a boricua girlfriend, once she considers herself yours, they are incredibly fun and happy women. Just break up with her (if you choose to) via text or email if you value your pretty face. [Image: wink.gif]

do not for the love of everything holy, get caught cheating!!! I did, and I lived to tell my story fortunately.

Whatsup with Puerto Rico?

Damn...you guys really layed it all out...now I'm torn up over which way I should go with this.

The reason I even thought of P.R. in the first place is because I've had mostly good experiences in my life with Puerto Rican people, men and women.

One of my closest childhood friends (elementry school) was PR from the South Bronx.

As I got older and in high school, the group of girls that always gave me the most open and outward attention was las boricuas.

One of the dudes I ran with doing my little hustle in high school thing with was also half-Italian (as am I) and half Puerto Rican...I used to love it over his house chilling with his mom and grandmother.

Then I went in the Army and served with some great guys from the island itself. They were usually class acts.

Then I got home from 3 years in Texas, California, Kentucky, the war and all that...and scooped a nice little Boricua chick (another south bronx transplant) for myself for a little bit. She was cool. I broke it off because I like to fuck random and my game wasnt developed the way it is now, I didnt want to disrespect her by cheating so I just dropped her instead. She didnt cut me, she cried though. These days, I just keep it 100% honest with a chick and if she stays, she stays, and if she goes, she goes.

I'm not really worried about the chicks not being into me just because my skin and hair happen to be light and I happen to be raised in the States. The stiff competition factor is something to consider, but I'm not the type of dude people stereotype for a typical "White dude". Yea, my hair is dark blond, but thats about where it stops. Anybody who even utters that word "whiteboy" in my direction in a condescending tone gets corrected with the quickness, "its European-American or if you must, White Man, thank you". I dont rock khaki shorts with cargo pockets.

I cant see it possibly being any harder in PR than the clubs where I live in Allentown, which are packed with black, PR and Domincan dudes and very few chicks. I still get play here, in fact Boricua and Dominican chicks tend to show more attraction for me just for the fact that I do hangout in those places and dont get shook up about it. I fucked a Dominican bartender chick who I picked up while she was working at a place patronized exclusively by Dominican/Boricua, and she later told me the reason she was so attracted to me from the gate was the fact that I walked up in there with my head held high and a smile like I didnt give a fuck.

Maybe its the fact Im "White" yet also 6'1'' 205 Lb with black/grey tattoos done by ese "Puppet" down in Texas, a fresh haircut and some Spanish lingo lol.

But yea, my decision is going to be harder now.

I still know Colombia is going to be even better for the chicks, as in greater abundance of hot girls and their willingness to fuck with me quickly.

But PR still seems to have some kind of pull on me too. DAMN! haha

Thank you all. I'll keep yall updated whichever way I go.

armanid27, if I do end up choosing Colombia, nos vemos en Mayo, ya tu sabes.

armanid27 & gmanifesto, 'preciate it fellas!

Nacirema,

The competition factor I talked about is not really direct competition you get from the guys, its their mere presence and the fact that the girls that live on the island have been gamed every which way imaginable. The dudes there are just as horny as the next guy, probably even moreso because they eat a shitload of Carrucho (aka conch, aka natural viagra) and have just as hard a time as anyone else gaming the chicks. My cousin who lives there and would slay chicks here in the states told me that he had only been approached by 2 chicks in his life total, one of which he has a kid with now. (He was 25 at the time). The guys and people there in general are some of the kindest, warmest people you'll ever meet. You don't go into anyones house there without being served a heaping plate of Arroz con gandules with some pollo on the side, broke or not.

The chicks that live there have been pumped and dumped to no end based on the high rate of single mothers that live on the island. That makes for some highly on guard women. Of course these are just generalizations and your experience may be different. These are the things that stuck out in my mind though.

As far as you being a "European-American" there, this will only be a problem if you stick out as a potential target for someone to rob. Which mostly happens after dark or if you end up getting lost in some place you shouldn't be. It seems like you know whats up though, so it shouldn't be prob for you.

Nacirema,

You should do fine in PR. And the girls there are mad fly.

I think if you are white, but understand and respect Latin cultures, being white can be turned into an advantage.

I think really that is one of the keys to swooping foreign girls in general: have respect, a willingness to learn and experience, handle yourself well and try to speak the language.

Essentially do everything a typical American wouldn't do.

Agreed with Joesea on this:

"As far as you being a "European-American" there, this will only be a problem if you stick out as a potential target for someone to rob. Which mostly happens after dark or if you end up getting lost in some place you shouldn't be. It seems like you know whats up though, so it shouldn't be prob for you."

On another note, PR reminds me kind of like rolling out in South Beach. Especially the El San Juan Hotel and scenes like that. If that helps.

JoeSea and G, both points duly noted. The insights are a big help. Thanks.

As far as my purposes and circumstances says go, considering all things logically:

My Major is to improve my Spanish with a Minor in pulling girls. I also have to do my other studies (business classes) online as well.

I'll be staying in the place I choose for 2 months and some change.

I'm gonna have like $2500 a month to work with, and for better or worse, I will be coming into either place solo.

PR sounds like a better place for a little vaction type thing once I'm well established monetarily. Sounds like a great place to blow a couple stacks in the city, ride some horses in the countryside, and enjoy the beaches on a 2 week vacation. Maybe bring a girl, maybe bring some friends. Maybe meet some girls there. There is some crime and people who act like chumps get busted up. PR has a VA hospital, I will have health care.

Inland Colombia (Cali/Pereira/Medellin) sounds better for learning Spanish, they talk WAY proper by comparison to el Caribe. Sounds better for living well on the budget that I have, $2500 a month. Also sounds better for the numbers of sexually available, beautiful women to a man in my specific situation. There is some crime and people who act like chumps get busted up. I dont have international health insurence, but I can probably get some.

This leads me to a story that may help with your dilemma.

A young Bull, and his dad are overlooking the fields with dozens of cows just begging to be banged, and the young, horny bull pleads to his dad "let's run over there as fast as we can, and fuck us one of them cows!"

The Old bull, calmly replies "no son, I have a better idea. Let's casually walk down there, and fuck them all!"

So, start walking boy - you got some serious puntang to hit before your next B'day!

Yeah man, If you're looking to dig in to the culture a little and do some exploring, I'd say rolling dolo my be in your best interest. Also, a little tip for you since you're already going to be in a studious frame of mind, try your best to find your way onto one of the many college campuses on the island. I went to the University of PR in Cayey one time to hang with people that I knew and the talent level was UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! I had never seen so many hot little tasty latinas in one concentrated area. Seriously, I had to take about 20 mins. to pull my jaw off the ground. It was at least 6 girls to every guy and when I asked about it, my peeps told me that yeah, education is way more valued by the women in PR. One thing though, that college campus was sort of run like a nightclub in that anyone that wasn't a student or wasn't associated with anyone going there was not going to get past the security guard. But Im sure there are other campuses that are easier to get into or Im sure you can figure out a way to make it happen.

"PR can also get to be like South Beach prices. JoeSea or armanid27 might be able to correct me if I am wrong on this."

I would say that the South Beach prices are only going to be found in the touristy spots, especially the resorts, but all in all prices are pretty reasonable. The food there is extra cheap. There's a spot called Bebo's bar b q located right across from the airport that will serve up about 3 pounds of mindblowing food in the form of rice and meat and sides for about $7. So once you get past the touristy spots, shit gets pretty cheap. There's also a lot of reasonably priced apartment rentals on craigslist.

Yea, I actually was looking at Craigslist for awhile about places to stay.

I also have been checking this site: http://www.clasificadosonline.com/Rentals.asp

Its all in Spanish, but thats never a bad thing because it seem like anything that involves English in Latin America always seems to cost more...for the obvious reason.

I think Cayey and I think Wisin y Yandel in the country, Los Vaqueros and shit haha.

That is actually one of the places I was thinking about if I was gonna do P.R. but its small though. Im sure I could find a boxing gym out there.

Seems that it would be cheaper than San Juan, more laid back, less Spanglish, still not too far from the beach.

I live near a city with a huge Puerto Rican community and i have to say I have NEVER seen more ugly, bitchy, and downright nasty-ass hoes than Boricua girls. Virtually all of them are ghetto dumbasses and the guys too.

Not sure I've seen a five-year-old thread resurrected before [Image: confused.gif]

In my experience, Puerto Ricans (in Puerto Rico) have a chip on their shoulder. They consider themselves better than the rest of Latin America because they're part of the US (a commonwealth, not a state). On the other hand, deep down they know they suffer from the same problems as the rest of Latin American: poverty, low educational levels, low civic involvement, corruption, etc. The beaches are only amazing if you haven't been elsewhere. English is an official language and rates of bilingualism are relatively high but far from universal.

UPDATE:

I've been living in PR for the past couple of months and went and read back the stuff I posted from a few years back. Yeah, safe to say shit is wayyy different now. The economic problems this place is going through can be felt in almost every facet of the society. That it's one thing to come as a tourist for a week or two at a time, b/c you will mostly be shielded from it unless you have local ties, but if you're here for longer than that it won't take long for you to see the cracks and frays.

Which is not to say that it's not a good place to visit, only that the level of difficulty in navigating the place went up a couple (few) notches. As far as the women go, you definitely have much more of the traditional latina type here on the island than it sounds like you'll run into in the northeast. That you'll want to speak spanish b/c although most can speak english, a lot quickly go from telenovela latina hotness to New Yawk/New Juerzey thick accents on a dime.

I've also ran into a lot that have never lived in the states and when they speak english *droooool*. One thing I will say though is that I RARELY if ever see random gringos running around anywhere outside of isla verde/condado or exploring any further than the tourist stretches. So take that for what it's worth.

JoeSea. thanks for the update. Are the beaches and Plaza Del Americas still the best day game locations?

I was considering spending a few months out of the year in PR to take advantage of the massive tax incentives. However, I prefer day game to night game. Thus I'm concerned there would be far less day game opportunities in PR than in my current location (3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA).

Thanks in advance.

One of the best things about PR is how cheap it is. You can find apts on the beach in isla verde/San Juan for $500/month. I heard apts in mayaguez go for $250/month. Condos on the beach for $100k. The locals don't make very much money so it drives down the cost of everything.

There's a lot of gringo Americans moving to the Condado area to take advantage of the tremendous tax breaks PR offers for business owners and high net worth individuals. I've met guys from the states who are having the time of their lives living cheap, making money, chilling on the beach and banging girls. PR is a great place to live if you work from home and make decent money, you can live like a king for cheap.

The issue is the hottest of the hottest Rican girls are the white PR girls who come from money. Typically they will go after other White Rican guys with money and do not like guys from the states. They can also be very stuck up and bitchy. But these will be some of the hottest girls you'll ever see in your life, girls who win Miss Universe and shit lol. There's always been a weird hatred of Puerto Rican's towards Americans from the states. I've always said about 50% of Rican girls are open to talking to a gringo and the other half just want a Rican guy, it's up to you to find the 50% that are open to talking to a gringo.
