Not sure how many posts a week I will do as I am just in the planning stages but....I appreciate you guys discussing the pluses and minus of both methods.

I really respect both of your opinions.

No problem man. I'm sure P Dog is going to come back at me with a well written and thoroughly thought out post, so I'm going to go ahead and throw up a preemptive agree to disagree right now, because I actually need to work on my shit today, and not fuck around on the internet lol.

Bottom line is either way can work, it just depends on how you execute it.

Look into doing Youtube video blogs, I think it's the new wave. Notice how Roosh and Mark Manson of Postmasculine are now doing video blogs? lol.

It's also a lot easier to be consistent with them. Writing 5 posts a week is tough. Talking into a webcam for 10 minutes, 5 times a week is easier. And monetizing videos on Youtube is a lot easier, than on a blog, at least for me.

"Shelling out cash"? Dude, it's $10.

I remember it being more then that.. Maybe cuz I'm dirt poor. Either way, changing url's will mess things up search engine wise, so be sure of your domain before you implement it.

@Rio, a lot of game blog posts hit 1,000 word mark already even they're already posting really often, my last one was 991 words and I would've thought that was medium... Heartiste's posts are often well over that and he posts all the time. It depends on what you're definition of "long" is. Like I said, quality trumps all. If those two bloggers have the expertise to post once a week but their writing is so dope that's all they need to add tremendous value then yeah that will work, but most successful game blogs started off posting basically every day for a few years and then slowed down as time went on, even the very blog that is the reason we're on the this forum right now.

As for the Google Images thing, when you're posting all the time the same readers will come back and check your blog from time to time (assuming they haven't subscribed to RSS or Email). If you're not posting often, they will forget to do that plus you're robbed of the chance of them subscribing on the 2nd or 3rd visit, leaving a higher portion of your hits being randoms who've never even heard of game.

@Jof, is Youtube blogging only for guys who don't want to hide their identities?

The thing about video blogs, is that someone has to be looking into your face all the time and if your voice is annoying or your face is annoying then it takes from the quality of your posts.

It's also hard to create imagery with voice..especially when one is distracted by face.

I was also thinking of doing a vid blog but I think I'll wear a disguise.

I'm Starting a Blog

I've built out over 400+ wordpress blogs and been to and met the owner of hostgator and used them since they started out in boca raton.

Start with your own domain and hosting from day 1 if you cant spare $10 for domain and $8 a month hosting, dont bother. You have bigger issues. do not use the free wordpress.com domain blog, if and when the blog grows you will run into all kinds of limitations that will cost your money to fix and you will have to move over to your own domain anyway, the domain is your brands home on the internet make sure you own it from day 1.

follow the advice, buy domain, use hostgator the support is excellent for noobs and 24/7 and english all techs usa based. and use the 1 click script installer and start writing, dont take a 20 min job and make into a yearly decision.

if enough people are interested ill write a post about how to start a blog,

as rio mentioned viper chill is great resource

changing domains is easy if you think of a new domain can copy over the wordpress to the new domain directory or make the domain a perm redirect and have the new domain point to and mask the old one, done it a couple hundred times, seo rankings stay in tact and old backlinks are still valid.

Man that guy is biting off me hard. Now he's doing book reviews in the same format as me, the same posting schedule, etc. Only difference is he's obsessed with traffic so he's pandering to betas and feminists to boost his numbers.

Funny thing is, him and his forum hate on you hard, too.

I couldn't read his forum though because they have a bunch of dudes talking about getting more girls on the forum to contribute and shit. Not sure what some chicks can contribute to a game forum. Maybe they are trying to get some e-pussy from them or somethin.

This is true, but I think it also adds some authenticity. Other idea are podcasts, for those that are worried about identity.

I like video blogs because it also helps you work on your public speaking and keeping people interested. If you can talk for 30 minutes and keep someone's attention, that goes a long way in game.

You could wear this lol:

I noticed it as well. And he's doing the whole travel around the world thing too. I follow his blog here and there, but sometimes he can be a little too unrealistic and feel-good with his advice. He claimed to be getting more numbers than you which I found hard to believe.

The ironic thing is he talks about treating women with respect, but he's known for pumping and dumping erika awakening haha.

@Giovonny,

Delusion Damage once wrote a series of blog posts on this very subject:

Starting a Blog

Getting Email at your Website

Blogging 101

How to build a high traffic website (Steve Pavlina)

I've followed his instructions almost verbatim and have a blog of my own. I made it a year ago. It's not traffic heavy - but I don't mind. I blog for me, myself, and I first, and an audience second.

However, it is really cheap to start a blog. You can get your first month free, get spam and identity protection free (or very cheap). My upkeep is $9 bucks a month. I could afford that in my last year of high school.

Good luck and enjoy the process.

Thanks for asking..

I will launch in December/January. I am currently organizing all my posts and notes.

It is a little scary because once I go down this road, I will forever be linked with game.

I don't want to ruin my professional reputation. Some people in my family will have some issues with it, some of my friends might be offended. I will likely lose some friends and associates.

Fuck it. I have to follow my heart.

I want to do something that no else is doing.

What would you like to see?

I know IRT gets a lot of hate here but teaching Indian men game can be a Niche , You would just have to look into finding a way where they will be willing to spend money on your brand of Game.

You are good at College Game, that's your niche, teach college kids how to game at a discounted rate, off course as their finaces are limited.

Teach rich people how to game , most have no clue.

Tons of Ideas, Do it right and Do it Big with proper maketing, advertising the whole deal.

Just saw this thread.

That's a great idea Gio! You're one of the best posters in here and are vastly experienced so no doubt that it will be a success. As others have said, go the niche route and establish yourself as the expert in that area. Become a relative expert in that field, which is not that difficult as most people are ignorant and lazy.

To solve your concern about affecting your personal and professional life, simply use a pen name, a fake/2ndary FB/Twitter account and you'd be set.

Regarding your comment about launching it in Dec, just one thing: don't overthink or over analyse it. Just get it done asap. The soonest it's up and running, the soonest you'll have a hang of things and will be able to build a brand/following. Write one quality post per week and take it from there.

Also, since you're one of the top contributors in here, if you need help with the site, I'll help you set it up and build you a professional looking site it at no cost.

Cheers man.

For a dedicated Wordpress host, I would recommend WP Engine. Then you are prepared the day your blog goes nuts with traffic.

Hostgator is pretty good, I'm generally happy with them. Plus buy their middle plan and you can host lots of sites there.

The gaming niche is fairly saturated these days, so you'll really have to do something special. Agree either go deep niche or just do something amazingly original. The languages niche had been done to death, then along came Sexy Mandarin with a whole new spin on things.

Don't put your site on free wordpress.com, if a feminist complains you'll just get shut down.

Also hostgator are OK with porn and smut.

The gaming niche has been done to death, but there is always a niche within a niche. A game blog for older guys specifically targeting younger girls fills a niche within a niche that hasn't been done yet.

Gio, get started bro. Don't get everything perfect before you start, or you will never start.

The real problem is finding a niche which will draw traffic and hasn't been staked out already. You might do a blog on STAR WARS, popular subject, but how many other blogs are there with the topic? Good luck trying to get on the first page and I guarantee you Lucas Films will always have the top slots. You can blog about Flat Earth theory and might even get a number of good links, but what kind of traffic will it get you? And don't ever, ever try to game Google. The have people who live for punks trying to put one over on them.
I've had a literary blog for the past few years, has PR4, plenty of links, but the traffic averages 20 hits a day. Whoop-de-fucking-do. My conclusion: people don't read many books these days.
Key word search is good idea, but it won't anticipate the Next Big Thing or a crash.
