In my relationships, I generally pay 2/3ds of all bills. My last few girlfriends have cooked and even cleaned for me, so I'm glad to bankroll most of the relationship. Traditional feminine girlfriend makes me want to be the traditional provider boyfriend.

It's funny, but it's mostly only useful during the first few dates. I need something more substantial. Any advice? Any articles you guys could link me to?

First off sorry for your situation. Been through it and it sucks.

Second of all, I don't think coming up with a cocky funny line is going to help at all in your situation. I think all it will show is that you are insecure about your situation. When I was in your position, it affected me a lot and sometimes tried to come up with stories as to why I was not working during the days, etc...

People see right through it.

My advice: be upfront with her and let her know you are working on the job thing and need to take it easier on expensive outings.

Option 2: get creative with your dates. plenty of things to do that cost nothing.

I couldn't have said this better myself.
For a more temporary solution to non LTRs: I recently was taking a nap before a date with a chick and literally woke up 10 minutes after our scheduled time to a text of "where are you?".
