Nachos. Places charge like 20 for a big plate, give them choices of toppings

Jalapeno poppers, fries tossed in different seasonings, different flavoured wings, poutine basically anything bite sized that people can share

Hamburgers, club sandwiches, and wings are all popular choices and can be made without too much difficulty in other countries. Cheesesteaks are a huge challange, not only in other countries, but in most of the United States. Outside of Philadelphia and South Jersey, the only places in the world I have seen where you can get a decent cheesesteak are The Shack in Santa Monica, California and Magurk's in Baltimore. I have heard that Cafe Martorano which has locations in Fort Lauderdale, in the Rio in Las Vegas, and in the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida also has good cheesesteaks, but I have yet to try them. The problem is of course getting Amoroso, Formica, or other quality Italian rolls to other parts of the United States or to other countries. It seems as though it would be much more cost and trouble than it would be worth to import real rolls from Philadelphia or South Jersey to another country. Without those rolls, I seriously doubt that expatriates in Latin America or the locals there would be huge consumers of cheesesteaks. The other foods you mentioned should be popular there. I have seen decent club sandwiches in Mexico.

Deep fry anything and toss salt and cheese on it.

Burgers.

I'm ready to write my own thread on it - I'm very opinionated about them. I fucking hate it when people claim certain burgers are awesome when they're mediocre. Like In-N-Out - it's McDonald's for yuppies. Anyone who says In-N-Out is anything more than a good $3 burger is suspect in matters of taste.

Fatburger used to be my favorite, but I've since had a couple gourmet burgers, served on brioche buns, and they are awesome. I heartily recommend finding a joint near you that serves a decent gourmet burger, which are often served on brioche or other buns more sophisticated than the typical sesame.

And simple street tacos. Small hot round tortilla, carne asada, raw onion, lime, cilantro and salsa.

Greasy Bacon Cheeseburgers. I was on a burger mission a few years ago and went to about 50 hole in the wall spots around town within half a year. I might have to go back to one of my top choices and take a picture so everyone can bust a nut to it.

Wings

Nachos

Chili Cheese Hot Dogs?

I have a lot to say about burgers too. I've been on a mission to find the top burger in NYC for over a year now.

One of the taverns I frequent has fantastic spicy garlic chicken wings. On Sundays they're all-you-can-eat for like ten dollars. I get 'em with a side of cajun-seasoned curly fries, which I dip in blue cheese dressing.

Nachos. load it up with steak or chicken, cheese, jalepenos and sour cream/guac. so good with beers.
buffalo wings too.

not sure how well this will do in Latin America. I mean Mexico has a few american chains like chili's and hooters, etc and they don't seem to do that well except for tourists.

Maybe you can do fusion american. things like "california fries" where you basically top fries with nacho toppings. Mission Burritos from SF...just non-traditional stuff...tex mex, etc.

No tex mex. So nachos could be a bust. Basically you serve American classics with the taste tweaked for Mexican pallets. Aside from mass crap like Mcdees people will taste foods differently. Hell even a Big Mac in Canada tastes different from one from the states. Mexicans may like things sweeter or something I have no clue but it's best to find that and then start brainstorming classics you can tweak.

Since many mexicans are fans of Antojitos, you can do plays on that. Smaller versions of these american bar foods. maybe kind of a fusion of tapas-stype appetizer type stuff. Sliders, chicken fingers...etc. Go to the cheesecake factory and basically copy their "small bites" and appetizer menu. They do all the research for you and you get the profit!

another area, although not really american but american influenced are sushi rolls. I've had pretty atriocious sushi in Mexico (I'm thinking there is only low end and really high end) and I think there's definitely a market for the korean-leaning versions of fake sushi rolls (philly rolls, steak rolls, tempura rolls, etc) in the middle range.

I'd go exotic and throw in some Filipino or Thai street foods, like fish balls and the like. Cheap and easy to make on the bbq. Chicken livers, hearts, gizzards grilled and basted with a little ketchup/soy marinade. BAM! In Latam where people don't mind eating lips and buttholes, it might be a hit.
