After Aqua broke up, the singer tried to shake off the Barbie Girl image with slutty solo videos...
...but I still prefer her in Aqua. Am I gay?
I like this video because in the end Barbie Girl turns out to be a strong woman who turns the tables on the pirates who kidnapped her. No really I'm not trying to be sarcastic I think she looks just adorable in that pink dress.
I actually listen to this music. I know it's cheap and I know I'm supposed to get tired of listening to it on repeat but I don't. Let's have more Aqua...
Almost everything about the 80s sucks. The 70s had Abba and all the imitators and the 90s had eurodance and lots of happy, upbeat Scandinavian dance pop acts. Even British music was briefly resurrected with the Spice Girls before it went back to the grave. I even liked the Macarena but it doesn't fit this thread. I'm never embarrassed to say that I liked the Macarena because everyone always thinks I'm joking.
Boyfriend by Bieber.
Fuck you all.
Fuck you all.
...
I listen to a lot of music that people think is stupid or weird or whatever, but I really do not care.
I use the opportunity to talk down to boring people whenever it arises.
Tell me you don't like this song, for example:
Here's a serious panty-dropper:

Read my work on Return of Kings here.
Slick Shimmer I'm pretty sure that I want your playlist
My player card will self destruct soon as I post this
(no gay)
This song is so stupid and crazy gay in the most literal sense but I like the chord progression and aggressive eighties disco beat:
Boom boom boom let's go back to my room so we can do it all night and you can make me feel right ohhoh!!!

Also Kansas' dust in the wind

That's sooooo bad... sounds like pressing the "DEMO" button on a 1980's keyboard.

Ha! I've got the 12" single. I picked up a lot of girls dancing to that song back in the day. I'd sing the chorus to them as we danced - except I'd sing "We can do it all night and I can make you less tight." It would always get a slap on the chest, but we didn't stop dancing. And then I would.

I miss Prince: you'd get great lines where you could lock onto their eyes as you'd sing along "I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth."
Oh man, THIS song. Used to dance with chicks to this all the time. The 80's seem like another world. Girls were happier and much less weird about their sexuality. It's odd now to think you could have a video clip this sexual, and there was no immediate cultural dialogue on sexism and misogyny and attempts to shame her by ugly lesbians. For all the talk of out-of-control millennial sexuality and 'hookup culture', they're puritans to my eyes.
This is so embarrassing that I won't be surprised if I get banned for this, but I've always loved this song. I don't like pop, I don't like boy bands, and I don't even know any songs by them but this, but I've always thought it was a kickass song.
And let me raise the ante a bit. Who thought Taylor Hanson was cute only to find out she was actually a he?
