I enjoy the pat down. It's like getting a quick massage. Although I don't like that I can't hold my wallet.

a lot of my background was in x-ray physics. when i found out TSA started implementing these things I went for the pat down. for people who travel frequently, go for that pat down. the amount of x-ray exposure you get from going through those things is actually bad for you. its more than in a single x-ray exposure your dentist takes.

I think it should be pointed out that if you're really that worried about being dosed with a small amount of radiation, you probably shouldn't be flying at all in the first place. Even if you opt for the pat-down in the security line and skip the body scanner, you're still getting dosed with cosmic and solar radiation at such high altitudes that would ordinarily be heavily filtered by the atmosphere.

A few recent studies have been done with statistics showing pilots and flight attendants are more likely to get cancer due to exposure to this cosmic radiation. And it's been argued "that travelers who fly 85,000 miles a year or more should be classified as radiation workers" and "flying round trip from New York to Tokyo seven times a year would put a passenger or crew member at the limit enforced at industrial sites".

I think the rules have changed but I'll be opting into the pat-down from now on if possible.

I always opt out of the scan and do the oat down. Annoying, but if everyone opted out, the line would slow to a crawl and they'd actually be forced to get rid of it. Deport the Muslims that don't belong here, problem solved. Get rid of THE TSA, they are ineffective and annoying.

I choose the pat down each time.

Too many people told that scientific studies show that over time, TSA gives bone cancer [Image: sad.gif]

For those of you traveling into and within the United States, you're well-familiar with the absurdly invasive TSA Body Scanners (at most major US airports). Do you guys just walk through, getting blasted with radiation in the process, or do you opt for the (also invasive) pat-down?

Invasive? A pat down? Unless I am missing something, some of you guys on that side of the pond seem to take these things way too seriously. I've been patted down many times in Europe, had it done at Gatwick the other day after I set the detector off and it was not invasive,my cock was not groped or ass hole fingered. Maybe they do it differently stateside? As for the full scanner, everyone has to do it at Moscow's Domodedovo airport where I fly through quite often, never given it a second thought to be honest. Cancer will be the last of my concerns since I'm much more likely to die slamming into a mountain side on some unserviced regional airline somewhere in the FSU then living long enough to get cancer.

That is why I think I must be missing something, what exactly is it that caused such a media ruckus when these things were introduced in the States? Are you guys more protective of your private space then Europeans?
I'm pretty sure that this is why the USA left England. King George 3's troops were putting their fingers up our buttholes and we wouldn't stand for that shit. Then we threw your tea into the ocean and BAM, Freedom! Trump Trump Trump! Murka![Image: banana.gif]

I've opted out for at least 5 years now. My thought is that the scanner is just as intrusive as the pat down, except that no one is feeling on you. It was a know issue that the machines were able to retain the naked images of people, despite the fact that the machines weren't supposed to be capable of it.

The pat down, demonstrates that people have a choice, so I always do it. Sometimes it's been brief and other times its been downright unpleasant.
