Cliche-filled, but I think that's a prerequisite for these kinds of things.

This is a great speech.

That said, I believe that there are some things in life that do have intrinsic value (banging fine bitches, eating a good meal), and it can be argued that we don't need to arbitrarily follow the hard road all the time if we want to find "real" meaning.

Some things are just easier now to accomplish than they were in the past. For instance, game. Even though it is an example of something that can be very hard to master, it is an example of a technology that has made that which was previously impossible, possible. We live a in world where paupers have greater access to princesses .

I think it's best to stay present and apply only the effort that is needed, no more, and no less. Hard work just for the sake of hard work can be as silly as "everyone is special."

Soup, very interesting comments! You are a deep motherfucker!

But I sort of disagree here:

This guy is not a "pauper". He is a popular and successful rapper. Practically, a "b-list" celebrity. He already has a baby with Erykah Badu and with his level of fame I'm sure he has girls throwing themselves at him all the time. If he were living in his mothers house and working somewhere for minimum wage, I might call him a pauper, but, this is an established guy in the music business who I'm sure makes a very good living.

Giovonny - keep in mind that someone of his birth would not even have gotten close to a princess 50 years ago. Class divisions are more fluid than ever now.

Edit - she's not a princess though is she?

As for the talk the message is timely but hard work is only part of the equation. Important to highlight to a generation who don't understand it's importance but often the lazy man finds the most efficient way.

Not to derail the thread, but I wonder how much horseshit that poor dude had to crawl through in order to get her hand. The guy obviously doesn't have the frame to be able to handle a woman. There is no reason that with their money that she needed to work. It had to be some gurrl power shit she spewed in order to be allowed to leave the house w/o a chaperone.

She may not be a princess by title, but to her ilk her boytoy is nothing but street trash. He may have money, but it was made by selling filth to other street trash, and it's a drop in a bucket compared to the money her family has. In the old days he would have been killed for looking at her too long.
